Unwarn. DD didn't even try them on in the shop. Only realised we had been given the wrong size AFTER she had sewn in ribbons and elastic!! £20 including post (ribbons and elastic still attached)

Anyone on here with current or recent experience of training at NBS Manchester? Any information on the standard of teaching, timetable, accommodation, graduate destinations etc. would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Just a shame the Central open day is 2 weeks before the actual finals! Quite costly and time consuming to make both trips unless you live near London. It doesn't sound like we'll get a chance to look round at all at finals. Very annoying!!

Pecking order of these school opinions
Yorkshire Pud replied to Flexible Fred's topic in Doing Dance
If you are lucky enough to have a choice and all are affordable then let your dd decide. Wherever she chooses there will be some people singing its praises and others telling you that somewhere else is better. Its enough to make your head spin ???? -
Recommendations for a school in Leeds/West Yorkshire
Yorkshire Pud replied to Isobit's topic in Doing Dance
Yes definitely recommend Tutugirl and The Yorkshire Ballet Academy in Leeds. Northern Ballet in Leeds offer open classes, associates and a ballet CAT scheme. -
Any info on what to expect at Scottish and Central finals would also be appreciated. Thanks.

To apply for a DADA I have been asked for info for 2014/15 and you had to note on the form if your circumstances were going to be different for 2015/16. I don't know what year they will want info for once the 'proper' DADA applications are sent out. That is if and when you are actually told you are going to get a DADA. For any degree courses applied for it won't matter you will get the student loan of £9000 and the minimum maintenance loan towards the accommodation whether you are above or below the £90k.

Definitely a great summer school for vocational and non vocational students aged from 6 to 19. Teaching faculty and choreography are excellent resulting in an amazing show at the end of the week.

It is on the letter Chaperone. All candidates will sit a 35 minute academic assessment. Flexible Fred my dd will just be putting a pair of black footless tights on top of her ballet stuff for the Jazz section. Probably school ones with the toes cut off!!

Elmhurst said they would be taking about 40 to finals. Last year they took on 7 non-Elmhurst students into upper school. Don't know about Tring yet.

When you are given a DADA Self Declaration of Income Form to complete there is guidance on the back, telling you what evidence is required.
-
You will include your gross income as per your P60 for 2014/15 and any other benefits as per your P11D for 2014/15. A car allowance is taxable income and will probably be included on your P60. Self- employed people use the taxable income figure from their Self-Assessment tax calculation form for 2014-15. There is no allowance for additional children with a DADA.

If we stopped paying billions more into the EU each year than we get out, then we could support our own farmers and other strategic industries that we currently let go bust or sell off to the French, Germans, Chinese .......

Question re leotard for lower school auditions - belt or no belt?
Yorkshire Pud replied to amos73's topic in Doing Dance
You can buy or make a waist band to match or contrast with your DDs 'special' leotard. Some coloured elastic or nice ribbon from the market will do with velcro sewn on the ends.- 18 replies
