  1. Thanks bluebird22, sounds like GCSE dance is worth taking another look at. I just didn't like the way they told her during a options meeting that she would need it for vocational school, and they expected her to do it. It's a fee paying school, so they say they would run the GCSE for minimum of 2 children. I'm from a non dancer back ground so often use this forum for help and info, thanks for your insight. Much appreciated X
  2. Am after some advice for my DD, she is currently yr 9 and they have started to look at GCSE options. She is 'known' as a dancer at her school and has been told by her form teacher that they expect her to take dance as an option. She has never been sure whether she is keen to choose it, but now feels under pressure to take it. The school only ever has a handful of children taking GCSE dance think the maximum was 5, and they achieve good results. My daughter is grade 7 RAD, advanced 1 and attends 2 associate schemes. She's hoping to audition for vocational school at 16, so will not having GCSE dance go against her? Personally I would rather her stick to academics but she feels she owes the school to do it. (They've always supported her ballet, from auditions, exams and EYB / LCB performances). Any advice gratefully received. Thank you x
  3. My daughter did LCB and was able to have day off when she auditioned for RBS MA as it fell on a Sunday. I just gave them plenty of notice once I had the MA audition time. They were more than happy to let her go and wished her luck the week before x
  4. My DD has just changed to Merlet Diva too and she loves them, she was in a Bloch suprima strong. They have lasted all EYB rehearsals and performances, so would definitely recommend x
  5. We would highly recommended Tring CBA, although there always seems to be less places available at the November audition, if you get a no in November do audition again in May. Auditions are a mix of ages, if I remember correctly my daughter was in an audition of 28 girls, aged from 11-13. Next group looked older and had less girls. X
  6. Personally I would leave grade 3 now and concentrate on going for the grade 4 at Easter. If she knows the syllabus for grade 3 and isn't to worried about not having the certificate in her portfolio, perhaps it's time to move forward being able to focus more on grade 4 and competitions. x
  7. Just wondered if anyone's sons or daughters are attending this summer school?
  8. Lovely news!! So pleased for you swanprincess xx
  9. Would agree with Shelia, my daughter tried all types of toe pads / ouch pouch and the Tendu advanced are the best she's had.
  10. Good luck to all who auditioned. My Dd Loved her time as a JA, the whole audition process is a fantastic experience. Hopefully you will get results soon, perhaps email might be quicker than waiting for the postman. Fingers crossed for all x
  11. Good luck everyone for tomorrow!! Hope you all move up a group or have good feedback. still no letter here for us, but we do live in rural location and post is often a few days late! We always get school reports a few days later than some of her class mates.
  12. Has anyone heard anything for potential group 5 or 6. No post today at all!
  13. Fantastic news petalviolet!!
  14. Brilliant balletmum1979, so pleased for you x
  15. Thanks for that info ballerinamummy, hopefully your daughter can do November. They must of liked her. my daughter wanted to audition last May but I missed the deadline, so got an audition in November. Then she was ill and couldn't go!! She finally got to audition on Sunday though, fingers crossed for all x
  16. Didn't say she was too talented!! The letter said she was talented but they couldn't offer her a place in November. Perhaps due to lack of space? Can't ever imagine tring turning down someone who is talented. Lol xx
  17. In November 2 girls from my daughters ballet school auditioned. Just checked with one of the mums, she told me they auditioned on the Sunday and had the results on the Wednesday after. Her daughter got a letter saying they felt she was talented but couldn't offer a place at the moment and to audition again, so she was there again Sunday, the other girl got a straight no letter, saying thank you, no mention of auditioning again. So it seems we are waiting for one of three letters, hopefully everyone gets a YES!!!!! xx good luck, hopefully tomorrow will be the day.
  18. Lisa, that made me chuckle! Balletmadgirl, good advise with the shorts for when the time comes! I just hope that her body changing wont effect her enthusiasm and confidence in dance x
  19. How do people deal with the dreaded period!! It's something I'm dreading with a 13 yr old daughter!
  20. Hi balletmum79 my daughter is 12 so in group 3. Audition is at 10.45, so not to early for us.
  21. Today we received an email from Tring with audition times etc. obviously they were off for Easter and our application somehow slipped through the net, even though I posted it in December! She's really looking forward to it now x
  22. I expect so JulieW, hopefully she will pick up message next week. Has anyone else heard anything about audition times?
  23. Still nothing. Have tried phoning but no answer so left a message and hopefully mary Schon will get back to us soon
  24. Still nothing from Tring CBA for us yet either! Slightly worried as I missed closing date last year, then applied for November audition but DD was ill and couldn't attend! Will she ever get to audition!
