  1. Thank you Lottie, the 'London junior and senior ballet' looks really interesting. Will be doing an application for those too!
  2. Wondered if anyone could recommend an associate scheme, have been looking at the Tring Associates scheme, My daughter is 12 and is RAD grade 6 and has just taken her Interfoundation exam where she got a distinction. She dances 6 times a week, 4 hrs ballet, 1 tap and 1 modern, but she wants to do more ballet. We are waiting on RBS MA results, have central audition in May but wondered where else to audition for. She is very keen to gain further training, but not sure where else to look. We are about 90 mins from Central London. Thanks in advance Nancy ????
  3. Thanks so much. That's been really helpful, looking forward to another day out in London!
  4. 'Swan princess', your post moved me, you have a very mature attitude, which will get you far! but now reading the latest reply from 'If Only' I'm in tears, over my glass of wine! Your words are so true. Thank you for sharing a lovely family story! So much emotion for a Friday night x
  5. Hi everyone. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of the Central assosciates audition. We have sent off my daughters forms and photos and have received an email saying she has an audition and further details will be sent nearer the time. Do all applications get an audition? Is the audition in the form of a 'ballet lesson'? Are the classes every week? How long do the classes last? Any other information would be greatfuly received. My daughter is 12 so would be a senior I think? Thanks in advance Nancy
  6. Well no letter today!! The wait continues! x
  7. Reading lots of other threads about audition results letters arriving, seems sometimes the 'yes' letters arrive on different days to the 'no' and 'waiting list' letters. Does anyone know if this happens with the associate letters?
  8. Hi, Sorry, just presumed as most in our area had finished this week, know they nearly always have that extra week! Perhaps another week to wait then ????
  9. My thinking was it's an Independent school and they all finish for Easter hols today, admin staff will be in next week so letters must be out at some point next week! Let's hope so. Good luck to all those waiting x
  10. Hi, is this RAD inter foundation or ISTD?? Just wondered as at my daughters dance school they study RAD grades and if you show particular strength in ballet you get 'invited' to the IF classes, which are ISTD. this is usually around grade 4, age 10 ish. But the teacher always mentions that it's a trial at first, as some girls will never be in the position to take the exam, as they just aren't build right for the pointe work. My daughter has just been 12 and has just taken the exam, and is now in intermediate. I think they spend a while in these classes before moving up and obviously not good to start pointe to young x
  11. Hi everyone. Thanks for all the info, so helpful. Just checked with a friend who was also at the London auditions, and they definitely said results 'this side of Easter'. We were given the impression that there naturally becomes a few space, from the children who are now to old for MA and are moving onto SA classes. The spaces that may or may not come available are from those who aren't offered another years training or decide to leave , these are the spaces for girls placed on the waiting list. This was from chatting to one of the lovely PTA ladies whilst waiting for audition to finish. Good luck to all of those facing assessments today and over the next few weeks
  12. Thanks tulip, sounds like bad news then for my daughter!! Just playing the waiting game now for the letter to tell us so!
  13. Hi Smiles! I see we are based around the same area! I feel worried about the whole 'being touched' thing! Was it a good sign or a bad sign!! My daughter was put on waiting list for JA about four years ago, but didn't get a place. This time she feels more nervous about it. Her dance teacher also told her to audition for central associate programme but the audition isn't until 24th of May. How did your daughter feel her audition went ? x
  14. My daughter is currently yr 7, I have no idea how the classes work! Not sure if they are grouped through age / school year or ballet grade?? Don't hold up much hope of a place, as very limited space and not sure what they were even looking for!!
  15. Hi Flora11, when my daughter auditioned on 17th January in London, they said that it would be this side of Easter. All results for white lodge and upper school are now out, so I think we could expect something next week!! When did you audition and where?? Nancy
  16. Hi my daughter wears Bloch Suprimas, she has done for the past two years and finds them really comfortable. She has a really arched, narrow, strong foot, and these really compliment her foot shape. Good luck on your hunt for the perfect shoe!!
  17. Thanks Spannerandpony, and hfbrew. Upon further investigation, Central sounds great. We had photos taken for RBS, which are the same required for Central, plus a 'pointe' one. Do you think it would be ok to send these, as they are bare foot, or should I redo with ballet shoes on. The application form just says practise clothes. Many thanks Nancy x
  18. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of Central Ballet School associate scheme. My DD ballet teacher has recommended her going for it, we have printed off the forms and they ask for a short letter stating why you want to be considered for the scheme. Has anyone done one of these letters? How long was it, and what did you say, was it 'formal' letter? The lessons sound great, with a mixture of ballet, pointe and Pilates, can anyone shed any light on their audition process, as our only previous audition experience has been EYB and RBS MA, which we are still awaiting results of. Thanks in advance. Nancy
  19. Just out of interested, did they move from the table to have a closer look at anyone, or test for flexibility? I would expect them to be looking at everyone, then the ones they liked the look of, would be observered from a different angle perhaps? But RBS are the professionals, it just seems unfair if they've dismissed you before seeing what you have to offer. Huge 'good lucks' to anyone awaiting results. This is life changing, and I'm dreading a few years time when my daughter is in this position x
  20. Hi Bou, the MA lessons take place at the upper school in covent garden (i think)!! Alternate weekends, they said the letters would be posted this side of Easter holidays so not expecting anything from them until end of march. Please let me know how your daughters audition goes x
  21. Hi vonrothbart. I have no personal knowledge but my god daughter went to RBS lower and upper school. I asked her about 'numbers' for each year group and she said "if they really want someone they will make space!" She also mentioned her friend who went for a Associate place but they liked her so much they put her through to WL finals for yr 9, she got a place and finished her training there. Good luck to your granddaughter xx
  22. Hi Bou, my daughter auditioned for JA at 'the point' in Eastleigh a few years back, when she was 8. It was a lovely experience which she really enjoyed. Lots of warming up and stretching going on outside before hand, but my daughter was happy to sit and watch the 'stretchers' putting their legs up by their ears!! Some parents were involved in the stretches and obviously knew what they were doing, I on the other hand had no clue on what was expected of them. My daughter was offered waiting list, but unfortunately a place never came up. She has just auditioned for Mid Associates which means going to London but once again had a lovely day, just awaiting the results of this now! Good luck xx
  23. Thank you all so much for the advice. We have to wait until March to find out the results, so keeping fingers crossed for a place. She was put on the waiting list at 8, for JA but didn't end up with a place, so really hoping this time is a 'yes', but will keep on thinking 'no' so not to disappointed! Any other advice will be greatly received. Many thanks x
  24. My daughter attended her MA audition this weekend, whilst in a group of around 20 girls, there were around 4 JA girls. When she came out and told us how it went she said that the 'judges' came over and bent her feet forwards and back then twisted her arms and wrists and felt her hips. This was obviously to be expected, but they only did this to her and 3 others. Her dancing friends went into audition after and they said that nobody was 'touched'. Now I feel worried that this was a bad thing. She is 11, grade 5 RAD, and istd interfoundation. Her ballet teacher always comments on her naturally arched foot and loose hips. Just wondered if anyone knew of this happening at RBS auditions and could shed any light on why they only do this to some girls. Sorry this is my first post, I'm have no previous experience of this and just thought someone could help. Many thanks
