  1. Thank you both for your quick replies! Today was the first day she's complained of pain. Thursday is her night off of dance, so she was resting all evening, she did however do netball and cross country run today at school! Will contact GP tomorrow and get an appointment.
  2. My daughter is complaining of hip pain, I placed my hand on her hip and when she moves it feels like its popping in and out. Obviously it's not but there is some clicking / popping here. She's always been able to do this but has only recently started complaining of pain. She's 12 years old and does 2 hours of grade 6 rad ballet plus 2 hours of intermediate, and tap and modern. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on what this could be, should I take her to GP or another practioner? Thanks in advance, x
  3. Yes we were there too! DD got a place in senior section, well done to all who auditioned x
  4. Yes we were there too! DD got a place in senior section, well done to all who auditioned x
  5. My daughter auditioned for LCB on Sunday for the first time. She got to the call back stage on the day, they then said we would receive the results in the post. Today she received a letter, asking her to attend again for finals in a few weeks time. Can anyone shed some light on what is involved in this next part. How many get through, past this round. We are used to EYB, finding out on the day! Thanks in advance, any info or tips gratefully received x
  6. Southerndancemum, sorry had only just seen this post. Yes got email, audition is for group 2, so need to be there for 9.45! x
  7. Good luck for this weekend and sleeping beauty Tracey47!! Bethany - they really like a 'good performer' so as long as your daughter is confident and smiles, she should get a place. Every audition is great experience so worth trying, x
  8. Bethany, Think it has something to do with ballet grades to. I think that on the application forms somewhere it said, that if you are 11 and grade 5 plus you do the senior audition. There are non pointe parts for seniors as last year my daughter was a junior (junior school age 11) with a pointe part, but there were seniors in the non pointe part of her dance. Thanks for the advice everyone. Hopefully she will be offered a place again! Good luck to anyone else going for EYB this season.
  9. Hi shygirlsmum. I know exactly how you feel, I was in your position a few years ago. My daughters ballet teacher was great but held them back from taking exams and going to auditions. She also charged a fortune in extra exam lessons. I decided enough was enough and took the plunge to phone her and tell her we were leaving her school, after half a bottle of wine I plucked up the courage to make the call. Like your teacher is was devastated, crying down the phone, which made me feel terrible!! I felt like I was breaking up with a boyfriend! Lol. Anyway it was the best decision we ever made, the new school did everything so differently and DD came on loads. Do what you feel is right, don't let the old teacher pressure you into staying. You are the customer and the customer is always right. Punishing your daughter and taking her out of festival, is very unprofessional, and very imature of a grown woman. Good luck with your decision, you know what's best for your child, x
  10. Hi everyone. My DD has taken part in the last two local EYB productions. She was in the junior category and got into the scholarship group each time (although she never got it!! ). This year she will audition as a senior. My question is, how tough are the senior auditions? Do they take as many seniors as juniors? The ballet this year is sleeping beauty, does anyone have experience of this production. I know she is worried about not getting a place this year, any advice or tips gratefully received. Thanks in advance!
  11. Just wondered if anyone has paid for audition and heard anything yet. I sent off form and cheque in June but haven't had anything back, not even an acknowledgment letter.
  12. Southsea dance summer school is ran by Viennen Fesstival ballet. The 6 day long course is based in Hampshire. My daughter attended last year and has a place for this year. It was excellent, 9.30 - 4.00 Monday - Friday with performance on the Saturday. Younger girls do ballet, character and limbering, older girls incorporate pointe. I think it was £140, well worth the money. x
  13. Hi Flora11, yes please keep me updated, as Tring is now what she really wants to go for. she has central on 25th may, but it's such a big commitment travelling to London every Saturday, if she were lucky enough to gain a place! Can't wait to hear all about your DD audition. Good luck to her and anyone else who still has auditions looming x
  14. Hi flora11, I just forgot to send off the form, I went on the website yesterday to get address and there was a message saying that applications have now closed for May audition but is now open for November applications. We will have to wait until then! My DD was not very happy with me, but with younger children, a career etc, I just forgot! Thanks Loulabelle, she is 12, year 7 and currently grade 6 and intermediate ballet. How do you go about applying for RAD associates, is there an audition. I know 2dancersmum mentioned that the ballet teacher has to put you forward? Thanks everyone again, everyone is so helpful x
  15. Hi 2dancersmum, thanks for that, wasn't aware of RAD associate. Just looked into it and the class take place just up the road from us. Closing date was in March, but will definitely look at it for next year. ???? I've missed the closing date for Tring park, CBA auditions for May so will have to wait till the November round of auditions. Thanks everyone for all the info regarding things to entertain small children near Tring park, it's all been very helpful. ????
  16. Well done for having a go!! You're braver than me. A mum offers the darning and stitching on ribbons service at our school for £15. Bargain as I'm hopeless at it!
  17. Thank you to everyone for all the useful tips and advice. Tring looks great and DD will hopefully be auditioning in May. I have younger boys who may have to come with us if hubby is at work, so all the museums park and zoo sounds great!! Just have too get through the audition now. DD really looking forward to it. Many, many thanks to all ! Nancy xx
  18. Thanks so much for the advice Amandalou1978. How long are the classes and how are they grouped? Is it dependant on ballet grade or age. My DD has just been 12 and is RAD grade 6 and ISTD intermediate. Also is there much to do in the surrounding area. If she was lucky enough to get a place, I have another child to entertain whilst she is dancing!! x
  19. Thanks Amandalou1978. It looks really a great opportunity, put details in 'sat nav' and is about 1 1/2 away, so similar to London for us. The website states classes take place over 6 Sundays a term, so wouldn't mind doing the journey. Just completed application , just hope she gets an audition as they are only a month away. Thanks for the advice.
  20. Congrats dancing girl!! So good to hear a yes from someone!!
  21. Are there any 'yes' today or perhaps they go out at a different time?
  22. Hi Smiles. Thank you!! Can I PM you with a few questions about our DD and Tring x
  23. Well obviously the 'touching' in audition was a bad thing!! Just had 'no' letter. Oh well, daughter seems keen to move on and get to central audition. Good luck to everyone still waiting xx????
  24. My daughter has done EYB three times, last time, We had a family wedding in London, which would have meant my daughter missing Saturday and Sunday rehearsals. Miss Lewis said my daughter had to make the decision, ballet or wedding! She chose ballet. Had to rely on friends for sleep over and pick up / drop off. My cousins were disappointed she wasn't part of the wedding. Miss Lewis told us that they need 100% commitment and absences would not be tolerated. As others have said, it's an expensive experience, so if you are going too miss three sessions it may not be worth it. Good luck with your decision. Nancy ????
  25. ooh, thanks spanner. Upon looking at the website it is the 'classical ballet academy' I was looking at! Do you have any experience of this??
