    I have to admit to being rather surprised when I read this: firstly because it's a "short" work, so that in itself seems rather unusual, and also because I couldn't see any obvious link between the subject-matter and the Bolshoi - unless of course the link is Osipova herself. On the other hand, it does have a commissioned score from a major composer, and I have no idea what the sets and costumes are like (I presume photos are embargoed at present), so it could be quite expensive, and the tickets are relatively cheap.

    Some tickets have now become available for several performances of this bill - largely at higher prices, it has to be said.

    Just discovered that my local WHS has done the same: and there I was thinking they'd discontinued selling it. It's surely not rocket science, though, is it? Just put it along with the opera and music magazines would seem to make most sense. But no ... Actually, this month's Dancing Times looked to me to be better - but it contains a number of letters complaining about the lack of ballroom coverage ...

    Sorry, obviously misread "what" as "who" I've said it before (so many times), but cinemas, companies and distributors really need to get their act together on this. There's clearly a market for the broadcasts, but even now, the problems I have trying to get information about them ... Twice in a not-too-local Odeon, 3 times in 3 different Picturehouses, I've tried to get hold of printed information about what is being shown and when, and getting blood out of the proverbial stone would be easier! And they *still* haven't really got the mailing lists together properly. I did get something from Picturehouses the other week, but again it's not laid out in a suitably list-like format to make it easy to read.

    Very sad to hear what's happened to Beth: I always thought The Jump was a good step - or even leap - too far. There are just some things you shouldn't do without proper training.

    We've had discussions previously in Doing Dance about how many ballet students don't actually seem to go and *watch* ballet. And when you think of the number of leading professional dancers who have said something to the effect that it was only when they actually went and saw their first ballet that they really "got" what ballet was, and that was what ignited the spark inside them ...

    I'm amazed: 5 of the 7 performances are currently showing as sold out! I never expected that that many people would be interested in an all-Wheeldon triple bill.

    She was certainly dancing with them the other night: she was mentioned in the reviews for the first night of the recent bill.

    Excuse the mess - quotes not working here again - but: Nureyev didn't exactly respect the hierarchy, from what I remember, did he? Was Guillem the only one he promoted differently? Thanks, A frog. I could only interpret it as meaning that he had several ballerinas in mind for Sylphide, and one for Giselle, but it's good to have confirmation from a native speaker Does the POB *have* Les Sylphides in its repertory? Oh yes, I think so, from what I've picked up in recent years. The concentration on a more contemporary rep at the expense of the Classical was a feature of the last few years of the previous regime - in fact, it was going on for several years before this forum started up, because I remember people complaining about the season schedule on the old forum.

    I was just listening to the Rach/Pag (aka Rhapsody) on the radio earlier, and really noticed the absence of dancing At least my brain inserted a lot of it - I was surprised at how much it remembered.

    Ye gods - £40 for the balcony! It used to be £25. Oh well, I'll *have* to pass, then. There's no way I can afford that. EDIT: And now I look lower down, I see rather more seats still in the Dress and Upper Circles than I would normally expect one month ahead, so I guess other people may be baulking, too. This gala used to specifically raise funds for various charities, but I don't think I've seen any indication in recent years that it still is?

    Jacqueline, all your posts will always show your total number of posts: try posting another one, and they should all go up to 200.

    They *are* very dependent on the position of the seat in front, your own position, and the person in front of you, that's true. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I remember once going and getting one of those inflatable cushions from front of house - but then it's a long way down to the footrest.

    But, knowing how intense it gets on Dansomanie, probably only if you have several hours to spare ... That's a point: does Dansomanie have one of those "Print" settings or whatever that allows you to read several pages of text on one page? I don't think I've ever bothered trying. (Come to think of it, do we? EDIT: Sort of. There's a Print icon down towards the bottom left of the page along with all the social media icons and so on, but it looks as though it doesn't show more than one page at a time. It strips off the avatars, poster's details, signatures and so on, giving a simpler look with seemingly more text for your money.)
