  1. Trying to sort my feelings out. I agree that, for me, too many close ups and some at the wrong time but it did enhance the chemistry that I felt between Nela and Vadim particularly in Act II. The whole production was wonderful, the boys and girls in Act 1 looked to be so into the story and then the same ladies became Wilis, you could feel the cold. They were outstanding. Itziar did have a bit of a wobble, but coming out for the first time to start Act ll; that must be a very difficult piece to dance. For me this was Vadims best performance since joining from the ENB, I rarely go to the Coliseum, to be honest, I have only starting going since Alina left, but I thought he partnered Nela wonderfully, his lifts towards the end looked rock solid and, I wish to knew the correct ballet terms but I don't, his jumps and leaps were fantastic. Nela always goes full on and tonight it worked for me and her expression at the curtain calls with the flowers she received was memorable. Wonder were Darcey was tonight, I like her.
  2. For those who may have missed it, here is Alina's tweet:- "I will be be performing ONLY under the management that made this ballet happen for our audience to enjoy, with @KOBBORG as our leader!!" Well done lady, right is right and wrong is wrong and they are the latter.
  3. More clarification from Dance Europe:- Johan Kobborg and the Opera National Bucharest The situation in Bucharest is complex but it transpires that, although Kobborg was engaged to carry out the duties of an artistic director of the ballet company, he was never formally contracted as such because the position does not exist due to some illogical bureaucracy. The arrival of one interim general manager, Tiberiu-IonuČ› Soare, who is a conductor, has resulted in an apparent need for absolute correctness, and so Kobborg's accreditation as artistic director has been removed from the company's roster and website. With a complete and shocking disregard for Kobborg's international reputation as a leading dancer, choreographer and director, the Opera National Bucharest has now listed Kobborg as an artist (i.e. a member of the corps de ballet). Such insensitive treatment of an individual who has raised the level and renown of the company immeasurably is nothing short of scandalous, and one hopes that the management of the Opera National Bucharest will concede that it has made a massive error and create the necessary legislation to give Johan Kobborg a title that he undeniably deserves.
  4. So it looks like this new guy wants everyone to speak Romanian or they are out. Wow.
  5. I apologise unreservedly if it was my comments that resurrected this subject.
  6. I got the impression that Johan left because he was not selected to take the reigns when Monica retired, so anything less than that would not be of interest to him. I do not know this as a fact, but my feelings.
  7. I wonder if Alina knew? She just tweeted about arriving in Stuttgart to dance Manon I think. I thought she would be with him! On Twitter he puts that he finds his name removed, which implies he has Been pushed out.
  8. Nela and Vadim, with Itziar as Myrtha and hopefully, with Frankie and Yasmine.
  9. So am I, I love Giselle. I have both Alina's and Natalia's DVD's and am sooo looking forward to watching Nela dance it. I like Vadim too, so looking forward to that as well. Roll on Wednesday.
  10. I must admit I did chuckle when I read that last bit about the "wonderful Carmen". Nineteen out of twenty is still a large "Yes" vote.
  11. Why preserve it if it is going to be kept out of the public domain. Just to gather dust on a shelf or sit on a hard drive somewhere.
  12. Regarding the release of a DVD with Nela/Vadim, up to 20 comments now. I give below part of the last contributors comment. "This superlative cast and Peter Wright's definitive production make this the best Giselle ever. I believe that you will be failing in your task as custodians of the Royal Ballet's heritage if you fail to preserve it."
  13. "Also, why do the matinees have to start so early? Even for those in London it makes having lunch awkward and means a really early start to get to the ROH. " I would have thought that given there is an evening performance of perhaps an opera or another ballet the stage crew will need time to re-set the stage.
  14. Great response on the ROH website so far for Nela/Vadim DVD , keep it going .
  15. There is a page on the website announcing the live relay in cinemas. Put your comments on their.
  16. Just seen the ROH website and, if I am reading it correctly, it seems there are no plans to release the Nela/Vadim performance to DVD. Maybe we could apply some people pressure???
  17. Would love to do a trip like this and see both companies, but being a bit lazy, is there any travel agents out their who offer packages does anyone know?
  18. I have been using Covent Garden a few times recently and all the lifts are working and you can leave or enter.
  19. As I write this tickets have come available for Frankie &James conversation on 8th June in the Clore.
  20. You are right, Coated, they are very hard.
  21. Susan Fisher, Customer Services, replied to my email saying:- "Our Insight Programme is managed by our Learning and Participation team which means that tickets are shared with schools. The event is also held in a small space so sometimes it sells out very quickly to our higher level members. We intend to record more and more event and make them available through our website." Given it says that cameras will be filming maybe they will make it available, which is better than nothing.
  22. It was, and fair play to them for doing it. This is not a review, but Kevin came front of curtain to advise us that he had told them to assume it was a working rehearsal as their first performance is not until the 23rd March. Basically I don't think they had anyone else so a big thank you to Lauren and Frederico.
