  1. Bea has put a photo of her foot on instagram and it looks really painful, just on the joint of her big toe. Poor girl.
  2. I know, Bruce, and I will be cheering Miss Takada on and wish the very best for tonight, can't be easy for her, but still sorry Frankie is sick.
  3. Following on from Frankie's wonderful performance last Thursday when I was sitting in the Amphitheatre; I was standing in the SC this afternoon round about number 54 so, although I lost the right hand side of the stage ( couldn't see the baby in the prologue ) I did see faces clearly. I purposely glanced at the girls faces watching Yasmine during the Rose Adagio and they looked absolutely thrilled for her, absolute genuine joy and how deserved it was. I have now seen two joyous performances from two ladies who, I hope, will be our jewels in the crown for many years to come. I think a word to for Gina Storm-Jensen who did a lovely job of the Lilac Fairy, no real barnstorming solos but told the story really well. How about Leticia Stock, Fairy of the Crystal Fountain in the Prologue, I am sure she was also one of the knitters who nearly got put to death, good job she wasn't as she was then one of Florestan's sisters and Anna Rose; a Golden Vine in the prologue, a friend of Aurora's in Act 1 the bluebird with Marcelino in Act 3. There is star quality there to. And finally a shout for Alastair Marriott as Cattalabutte, he really hammed up the character in the prologue and the sequence when Carabosse demands to know why she had not been invited to the christening, the Queen quickly blames the King, who immediately blames Cattalabutte was perfectly done, followed by his agony of his wig being removed, Brilliant comedy. Only one left for me now, Frankie again on Monday. My standing companion reminded me that this will also be Osipova's debut as Aurora with the RB as, when rehearsing for the last run, she injured herself and was unable to dance - sorry I haven't got a ticket for that now.
  4. I had no idea Frankie was so unwell, so her performance is amazing, hope she is O.K for Monday I am going to see that as well. And Yasmin on Saturday-happy days
  5. Can only agree with the others regarding Frankie's debut. Am I alone but I thought her Rose Adagio was wonderful, the pace, her balance and musicality was a total joy. The whole company danced beautifully particularly the younger dancers, we have some great years ahead, hope I live long enough to watch it.
  6. I am a friend+ Which puts me further up the food chain than a friend and there has only been side slips available for the 2nd May Watson performance since booking opened for us. So all the seats have been scooped up by the people who can afford the top memberships or kept for students.Grrrrr
  7. I can only echo the earlier comments about this performance, it was pure magic. Alina is just perfect, for me one of the great Giselle's of our time. I was hugely impressed with Laurretta Summerscales' Myrtha, power and authority combined with wonderful dancing. Congratulations are also due to the corps who performed as willis beautifully. Mr. Hernandez partnered Alina with great care and danced his solo's powerfully, last but not least Rina Kanehara and Cesar Corrales were just lovely in their peasant pas de deux. Well done, Tamara, reminding us of a traditional Giselle following the wonderful Khan version. Hope they are able to film the performances in September. I, for one, will be first in the queue to buy a copy. If you have never seen Alina's Giselle go see it. You will remember it forever.
  8. I am at Giselle on Wednesday, hope it is available on the ROH tube channel.
  9. I have no problem with the concept of reducing prices for our hard working students, my son was one some years ago, I did help with his rent and bills but it was tough deciding where to drink etc. It's the fact that it's Osipova/Watson that has ticked me off
  10. You are able to buy "packages" for either the opera or ballet or a mix of both in the stalls or amphitheatre where you get the same seat and they do offer a discount for doing it. I am a Friend+ which covers myself and wife which puts us just before a Friend. One thing I have noticed that when booking opens for us nearly if not all of the stalls circle standing tickets are not on offer, whether this means they are sold or being kept back I know not. I know this is off topic but one thing that has really annoyed me in this booking period is the 2nd May performance of Mayerling ( Osipova/Watson ) the whole of the amphitheatre is being kept for students, only the sides are available. I really don't see why students should get priority over friends of all types, we pay enough for the priviledge.
  11. Sent a tweet to Tamara expressing my disappointment that the Khan Giselle performances at SW in September are, and have been, sold out for some time and I asked her would it be possible to have additional performances or, if not, what about a DVD She actually replied saying they are hoping to film the September performances, so that is my wish for 2017. Like many on here I am also really excited to be seeing Frankie and Yasmine as Aurora. I am also holding my breathe waiting for Nat and Ed bouncing off each other in Mayerling. that could be some collision. Wow
  12. Not being familiar with either the Mariinsky or the dancers if I were to select one which one should it be? If the Bolshoi prices are anything to go by then it will be one.
  13. According to Theatremonkey the best stalls seats are from row D to H. Very good rake from F onwards. Plenty of leg room. You can tell your "friend" that these are good seats. The theatre itself is huge.
  14. Below is from the ROH web site Prologue 35 minutes Interval 25 minutes Act I 30 minutes Interval 20 minutes Act II 30 minutes Act III 40 minutes Sorry, Capybara beat me to it
  15. Giselle - Akram Giselle - Osipova/Nunez Frankie - Lise/SPF/Clara/Rhapsody Roberta last performance as Lise Harrison Lee - RBS performance at ROH Alina - Swan Lake at RAH with ENB WORST Wheeldon's - Strapless Acosta - Carmen ALL TIME - WORST Multiverse Multiverse Multiverse
  16. I watched the Nut's documentary last night and would be interested if anyone else, other than me, noticed that during the section when Frankie and Alexander were rehearsing the GPDD in front of Ms Collier and Sir Peter the director cut to a picture of Ms Collier and Sir Peter exchanging a quick look with each other, both with expressions that said to me that this girl has got it. Hope it isn't me being fanciful but that look said more than any words. I really enjoyed the whole documentary, the feeling of excitement at the school was very well captured and it didn't strike me that Darcey's appearance at the stage door was a set up nor the children's response at seeing her. Frankie has posted a photo of herself on her Instagram account today ( frankiegoestohayward ) of life as a ballerina which is wonderful.
  17. Olivia has tweeted that more are on the way and asks for a little patience.
  18. Olivia Cowley is selling used pairs of Pointe Shoes on her Ballet Style blog, signed by the RB ballerina who wore them for £20 + postage and all profits will go to the Alzheimers Assoc. Great cause. Well done Livs. Sorry, Mods, I've just noticed there is already a thread for this under "Not Dance" Sorry
  19. Thanks Alison, I thought I had seen either an asterisk or mark next to a name then an explanation given lower down, similar to when a particular character is being sponsored.
