  1. Completely agree with WoodlandGladeFairy above. Totally magical. The whole company danced beautifully. I believe this was Frankie's and Alexander's debut in the role of SPF and her Prince but no notice was give of this was given on the cast sheet. She danced wonderfully; her phrasing is amazing and I look forward to watching many of her performances in the future. Over the years I have noticed that in classical ballets there are a number of people on the stage who do not dance at all but just fill the stage as a crowd, or courtiers or peasants depending on the ballet. I wonder if anyone knows who the actor is who wanders around for most of the first act, mostly in front of the tree, appearing very busy but not actually doing much at all. He carries the chandelier at the end of act one as everyone goes to bed. I have seen him doing this for a good few years now, he never gets in the way of the dancers but manages to keep out of the way. I would love to know who he is, does anyone know? I too wondered about the sleigh, it looks very strange that Clara and Peter just appeared to wander off.
  2. Hit the nail on the head here, Scheherezade. I totally subscribe to your description of both the set of Multiverse and your comparison with Akram Khan's Giselle. To me, Khan, has emotion by the bucketful whereas WM seems to lack any feelings at all, If I had not read that all the scurrying around in either the first or second section was to portray immigrants in their plight then I would not have thought of that whereas Khan is able to express the poverty of the peasants beautifully by simple body movement plus there is no requirement for the legs to be spread on every occasion which WM seems to love. I would love for Mr. O'Hare to employ Mr Khan to create something for the RB. I also second your remarks about Francesca, can't wait for the 29th and her SPF.
  3. Thanks for that, Bluebird. Could be the various "friends" have not had their go yet.
  4. Have to say, I felt sorry for her the night I was their. Whilst everyone involved in the production appeared for their curtain call, ( or so it seemed ) there is poor Frankie stuck in her mask. She was good though but, then again, she always is.
  5. Only in the Second Circle and I do not want to sit their. All the other areas show only restricted views. Do you think those areas are sold out or just not put out for sale yet.
  6. Beautifully put Bridiem, sums up my feelings exactly. Stina Quagebeur appeared to be on-point for the entire second act, magnificent. I really like Mr Khan, perhaps he could go and show Mr. McGregor how emotion is displayed in contemporary ballet and does not require dancers legs to be continually spread-eagled. I tried to book tickets for next September but it has disappeared from the ENB web site and, although it is still showing on the SW web site there are no tickets available. Surely it cannot be sold out already.
  7. This is just about Multiverse. It is in three parts, parts one and two is a loop tape of Brother Walter speaking ( shouting ) and it repeats a phrase over and over again, the phrase becomes a word, repeated over and over and over again, then the word finds an echo so you hear the same word twice, over and over and over again. Part one lasts about 10 minutes ( but feels like a couple of days ), Part two is roughly the same but a NEW PHRASE. Another couple of days go by until a small orchestra take over. I remember being at a Prom some years when they performed a piece by John Cage where 24 or so vacuum cleaners where switched on and off for a bit. It reminded me of the intellectual rubbish we all sat through in the Warhol era when all kinds of things where written, played etc. in the name of ART but was in fact total crap. Meanwhile those wonderful RB dancers were somehow or other dancing , how they kept it all together with this going on the background is beyond me. My advise, MAB, would be to go to the bar and give it a miss. But if curiousity compels you to go, it must be ear plugs.
  8. Agreed, how can you learn the dance to that racket. No more now, look forward to reading others.
  9. I find I am enjoying Mr McGregor more and more. Loved tonight's Chroma and Carbon Life but I really did not like the noise that our wonderful dancers had to cope with in Multiverse? I won't say anymore now, I don't want to spoil anyone else's enjoyment other than to say I hated it. Looking forward to read other, more knowledgeable than me.
  10. There is a live stream tonight at 7.30 of a rehearsal on their You Tube Channel tonight.
  11. Not a review because I know they are frowned upon for rehearsals but just back from todays friends one and I found as a ballet the first two Acts are purely window dressing but Act 3 is from a totally different world. WOW! and go and see Lauren.
  12. Me to, to be honest I dont care for Nutcracker, so much rather have Fille. We could change the maypole to a Christmas tree, the ribbons could be glittery and Peregrine could be made to look like a reindeer. Job done.
  13. I was going to wax lyrical about tonight's performance until I read lily_883 and our own dear Bruce who said what I was going to say far better than my words. Just pure magic, a shout for the dancer carrying the basket behind Peregrine too, you can guess why I say this. The corps were wonderful too and in Mr Sambe and Miss Hayward we have two wonderful dancers. More please.
  14. Surprised no-one has started a thread on this, being last night was the opening night. However, I went to it and thought the whole evening was lovely. Program. Winter Dreams - Farewell Pas de Deux - MacMillan - Marianela Nunez and Carlos Dying Swan - Fokine - Sarah Lamb Rhapsody - Pas de Deux - Ashton - Yuhui Choe and Valentino Zucchetti Scheherazade - Pas de Deux - Fokine - Gabriela Lugo and Luis Valle Manon - Bedroom Pas de Deux from Act 1 - Macmillan - Laura Morera and Ryoichi Harano Don Quixote Pas de Deux - Petipa/Acosta - Marianela Nunez and Carlos Part Two Mayerling - Final Pas de Deux from Act 3 - MacMillan - Laura Morera,Carlos and Valentino Zucchetti Gloria Domine Deus - MacMillan - Sarah Lamb and Ryoichi Harano Requiem Offertoire and Pie Jesu - MacMillan - Yuhui Choe and Carlos Rubies Pas de Deux - Balanchine - Sarah Lamb and Valentino Zucchetti Apollo Pas de Deux - Balanchine - Marianela and Carlos Anadromous - Reinoso - Gabriela Lugo and Luis Valle Memoria - Altunaga - Carlos Good mix of styles and types of ballet including some contemporary, the final two particularly. The highlight for me was the Don Quixote - both Nela and Carlos having so much fun with it. It included some gravitas as well, particularly Winter Dreams, Manon and Mayerling beautifully danced as were all the pieces. Carlos was in complete pieces at the final "curtain" ( except there wasn't one), plainly overwhelmed and the whole of the Albert Hall on its feet cheering to the rafters. Great send off. Great night.
  15. No disrespect to Mr O'Hare but I wonder if the RB missed a trick with Ms Rojo.
  16. Well LTD you have cheered me up. Because the ENB are late in announcing casts I have successfully guessed when Alina would be dancing and picked the right date; wait for it; but not this time. I guessed the 19th November at SW but alas she is dancing on the 18th. Still it is Tamara which is not a bad deal at all; but I love Alina's Giselle.
  17. Just looking at the RB web site and there are loads and loads of tickets unsold for this, even the rehearsal has over 100 tickets still for sale. Could they have a fire sale and knock them out cheap do you think?
