The Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker, 2015-16
ambros1a replied to Bleaden94's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Agree wholeheartedly. This irritates me so much but I think it was much more prevalent in this screening. I also thought that in the wider views of the stage it felt as if the camera was in a hole looking up at the stage rather than on the same level. Aargh!! -
The Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker, 2015-16
ambros1a replied to Bleaden94's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Apologies for the confusion in my last post (#83) in response to Alison (#82). I misunderstood the question. The cast I gave was for the previous cinema broadcast in 2013. I'll pay better attention in future -

How to help ensure we still get arts coverage
ambros1a replied to toursenlair's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
"If we want to still have dance coverage in our major newspapers,we have to click on those links. Even if we don't read the article because we don't have time!!! Keep on clicking." I agree Tours-en-l'air. I click on most of these links - except for those behind a pay-wall - and then share them to Pocket for reading later. Pocket is a great app for mobile devices and it also has an add-on for desktop browsers so you can save and read from any device (I have no connection with the company that produces this app; I'm just a happy user :-)) -

I missed it, but Deborah Bull interviewed Sylvie on BBC Radio (I think) last Friday as part of their Edinburgh International Festival Conversations series. Their webpage says it will be on iPlayer shortly: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/19mgFqGwFhpZCW2gyfnbHcb/eif-conversations-1-sylvie-guillem

Sergei Filin's contract will not be renewed
ambros1a replied to ambros1a's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
A report from Ismene Brown including translation of the press release: http://www.ismeneb.com/Blog/Entries/2015/7/30_Bolshoi_gives_Filin_notice_-_his_job_abolished.html -
Vladimir Urin has announced that Sergei Filin's contract will not be renewed when it expires in March 2016. The decision is linked to internal affairs in the theatre. There is a proposal that he continue to collaborate with the theatre in another way but does not specify what that might be. http://culturebox.francetvinfo.fr/scenes/danse/le-bolchoi-licencie-son-directeur-artistique-attaque-a-lacide-en-2013-225103 http://www.gazeta.ru/culture/news/2015/07/30/n_7420113.shtml

The Bolshoi will be in London from 25 July - 13 August 2016 at the ROH. http://www.bolshoi.ru/r/_content/cc9f1467ac9e145158d16c326b2e512e/240%20season.pdf They'll be performing Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Flames of Paris & The Taming of the Shrew.
