  1. Almost anywhere between D.23 to D.40 is good standing I think I’ve noted D.28 to 33 as being the very best of all but others may think differently! I don’t like the extreme ends so not D1-5 or the upper end D.50 as I’m taller and think those ends are harder for anyone over 5ft 8ins!! If I’m in those I sometimes stand flattened against the back wall but this only comfortable for a while so tend to avoid as it’s bad enough standing now at my advanced age and have already ruled out standing for Sleeping Beauty or Swan Lake again (except for exceptional circumstances) only because it’s longer than an hour before a break!! D.10 is also blocked a bit with a pillar too. But I do think your standing ticks are okay and if younger than 65 you will be fine!!!

    Room 101

I agree! I have sat in this seat before but would not sit there when charging nearly double the price it sometimes is.

Just wondering what people think of this. When advertising tickets for sale on the Forum should it be said if the ticket is restricted view? There’s been one advertised this week which is very annoying to sit in because although view from seat is only partially restricted so many people along the line ahead have to lean forward to see so in the end makes it much more restricted than it may appear. The seat is still over £100 so a bit of a cheek really for ROH to charge that anyway but people may assume it’s a normal view if nothing is said when advertising it.
  4. Two new Nutcrackers next season then!! Will make up for not being able to see it at all in 2023!!!
  5. Well I think you will very much enjoy it!! I remember the first time I saw Swan Lake over 50 years ago now that one of the things that struck me (apart from the dancing itself) was just how much wonderful music there was I’d never heard before as only ever a couple of tracks were played on the radio at the time. I suppose these days as there is so much video etc available this might not be such a surprise but hope you fall in love with at least one section you’ve never heard before!
  6. Thanks Jan for info links. Looks like I won’t be able to see them this year unless perhaps can manoeuvre a trip to Canterbury perhaps …we haven’t done a “Kent” trip for a few years now!!
  7. When I looked into my account I found I’d already signed up for offers etc.🙄 It’s just I’ve never had any from the ROH only emails inviting me to spend more money whilst in the ROH at the ballet to enhance my experience!
  8. My old childhood route up to London and used regularly as an adult in the years between various cars when visiting parents!
  9. Cesar could be a great actor/dancer though I know he’s keen to do the classics as well. His sometimes ( not always) rather heavy landings have some compensation in his beautiful feet ( as believe Fiona M mentioned up thread). I hope he doesn’t lose that wonderful bountiful enthusiasm of his with all this injury which must knock your confidence a bit.
  10. Cesar Corrales is that exciting dancer in the Royal. It is just such a shame he has been so injury ridden. I was gutted some years back when heard he was leaving ENB as thought he was most exciting dancer had seen for ages and now he was leaving!!! So joy was restored once knew was joining RB However since then he seems only to have had half a career and it takes a while each time to dance at full strength when returning. I can see why those who did not see him earlier at ENB may not rate him but I’m really hoping he can come into his own in the next season.
  11. So many posts since but hope your back is better soon Sim. This winter has definitely been a test in stoicism in one form or another! If make it on Friday will find you all….hopefully …though there are three sets of stairs down from Floral Hall!!!
  12. You have my sympathy Richard LH am so very glad do not get these “classic” migraines any more preceded by the dreaded visual disturbance. I even saw a depiction of my aura in one of Oliver Sacks books!! Luckily they stopped in my early 50’s but were a scourge for many years from the age of 14 about every 3 months or so. Hope all is well for you by Friday which I think will be a very special performance!!
  13. I’ve booked but not received any offers. Had no idea that you could or how to sign up for offers….as otherwise why wouldn’t you?
  14. I did have a vague idea who Francisco Serrano was but nevertheless just looked him up to double check!! Well the powers that be must have great faith in him to cast in this role so will be exciting to see what he does with it.
  15. Well done Dawnstar for persevering! I’ve never done Friday Rush as know I couldn’t take all the tension especially as I only ever book one ticket at a time 🙄 Still no pain no gain as my hand physio keeps saying!!
  16. I love your description of trying to wrap the flowers Dawnstar! I’d be in a nervous Twitter if suddenly decided to do that and then panic about exactly what to write on the card lol!! A bit the other way around when I finally got Joe Sissens autograph unexpectedly walking along Floral Street you would have definitely needed a hieroglyphics expert to decipher his writing!!! Perhaps we should have a “guess the dancer” thread where people try to work out autographs Forum members have received over the years!!
  17. I know I’ve always had a soft spot for Joe Sissens (since seeing him in YBSS summer school a good few years ago now) but I just love the photo of Sissens and Sibley standing together at the curtain call …just look at Jo’s face you can tell he feels so honoured …what a lovely memory for him to cherish.
  18. Sibley and Dowell in the Dream are still my favourites in the roles of Titania and Oberon. Never seen anyone as gossamer light as Sibley and Dowell so ethereally aesthetic you really could believe the King and Queen of the Fairy Realm were genuine entities!
  19. So so annoyed to have missed Sibley on stage on her 85th birthday! I saw her in Manon many years ago and still remember her dancing in the final Act.
  20. I just looked up your name Borzoi so just cottoned on that it’s a type of Russian hunting dog. So that should be interesting on stage!
  21. Thanks so much for best wishes regarding missing yet another ballet performance! Usually when I have to cancel a ticket I ring in and was loathe to have to ring in yesterday to explain cancelling yet another ticket. However a friend suggested doing it online via account …so rather nervously (I always expect things to go wrong when doing first time online) went through the process and it was just SO easy! Everything straightforward including the confirmation email etc. So that’s one new thing learned but which I hope I don’t have to do again for a long while! As usual the returned ticket resold within about 20 mins! Hope all going enjoy what I’m sure will be a fantastic performance tonight.
  22. Hope you make it Dawnstar! Am jolly glad didn’t have to go up to London today as severe delays on Brighton to London line earlier today.
