  1. I do hope the operation has been successful and that your daughter is now in recovery. Very best wishes to you all.
  2. Least said soonest mended about "Diana The Princess, A Celebration". I chose not to see Midnight Express!
  3. Will be reporting on Rojo/Lendorf later. Not long home from London and gathering my thoughts.
  4. Christopher Bruce created a number of works on 20th century subjects - off the top of my head I can think of Land (about the situation in Poland in the 1980s, created for ENB) and Cruel Garden (about Lorca and a full evening work), Ghost Dances (about the "disappeared" of Chile in the 1970s),
  5. Thinking of you and your daughter today, Regattah. Jxx
  6. Fiz, it sounds like your laptop is as naughty as mine, which keeps booking tickets when I am not looking!!!

  9. Oh I don't know Taxi, we're not on meters yet.
  10. It has been reported today that Dora Bryan has passed away at the age of 91. Here is the BBC report
  11. Unbelievable Melody! We keep getting letters from United Utilities advising us to insure our water supply pipes running through the garden. A friend told me that the law was changed a few years ago and the water provider is now responsible for the pipes right to the entry point into the house.
  12. Here's the thread BE mentioned. It's worth a read.
  13. Here's the thread from earlier in the year, where we heard that Ms Dean was leaving the Royal Ballet. Bangorballetboy's post number 4 gives some detail.
  14. Hello Tutu Anna, welcome from me too. Thanks for sharing your DD's experiences about training in Japan. I hope you will continue to contribute.
  15. I think the ticket prices may be contributary to a certain lack of bookings, combined with the new works. As was pointed out, the RB mixed programmes are often cheaper than full length ballets and this must surely help.
  16. Thanks for publishing this B2. It's great news for Mr Corella after his valiant struggles to keep his company going in Spain. (I neglected to put this in today's links so will include it tomorrow).

  18. The International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) is biennial. There were some fantastic companies in the festival this year and I am sorry I could only get to one performance (BRB). Please, if there is a dance festival can it be one without muddy fields and where you can stay in buildings???
  19. Or even BRB's Evening of Music and Dance at (Birmingham) Symphony Hall. Always a highlight.
  20. David Nixon, AD of Northern Ballet, has said on numerous occasions that the students he watches are often not "Company ready" and that is why the Northern Ballet Academy now offers a Graduate Professional Programme. Four of the graduates from this year's programme have been taken into NB (I don't know where the others have gone). There was a lot of controversy on this forum when the Programme was initially announced because a lot of people felt it was charging dancers to gain performing experience but you pays your money and you takes your choice. Very best wishes to your daughter Sylvie and to all our members' DC.
  21. Isabella Gasparini was much loved by fans of Northern Ballet for her five or six years with the company. When she left NB she was in Swan Lake at RAH on a short term contract and was then with NEBT before she got the short term contract at the Royal. Perhaps NEBT was able to help her get that contract and the RB, understandably, liked what they saw. Not only was Sarah Kundi a stalwart at NB but later when with Ballet Black she was nominated for a Dance Critics award so she has not exactly appeared on the scene from nowhere either.
  22. No, Scottish Ballet was already in Scotland when I first started watching ballet in 1984. ENB only took that name around 1989?
  23. Hello Trends Entertainment and welcome to the Forum. Thanks for providing the details of this interesting sounding workshop. Could I please ask you to add a signature to your profile as stated in the Acceptable User Policy "Members who have commercial interests must indicate that by adding a Signature line to their postings, stating the name and type of their business and giving their website and/or business email address for enquiries. (You set up a Signature via My Settings in the dropdown menu under your name.) If members wish to contact businesses, associate schemes or other commercial enterprises this should be done via the vendor’s website or email, not by starting threads on the forum." I have hidden the duplicated posts you have placed in the Performances Seen and News forums. It is not acceptable to flood the board with duplicate postings. The Doing Dance Forum is the best place to mention your workshops.
