  1. The two London plaques for Lenin are not English Heritage plaques. The Islington one is a private plaque (I think) replacing a former LCC plaque. The Camden one is from the Marchmont Association. It's certainly possible for a person to have a commemorative plaque in more than one location, but I believe that English Heritage plaques are restricted to one per person, as I mentioned above. Sorry if this is too much off topic.
  2. Thanks so much Jacqueline for the information about the Daily Telegraph article. A very interesting read. The link is here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/property/3341264/Rudolfs-secret-refuge.html
  3. I believe that English Heritage blue plaques are restricted to one per subject in Greater London. Other plaque schemes exist, e.g. local authority heritage plaques, so there would be other routes to try, assuming the property owners give consent. English Heritage will not place a plaque in a location where the subject is already commemorated by a plaque from another scheme.
  4. I think Jacqueline is right. One of several conditions for an English Heritage plaque is visibility from the public highway. Perhaps this would be more difficult to achieve at the East Sheen property.
  5. A blue plaque for Rudolf Nureyev is amongst those planned by English Heritage for 2017: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/about-us/search-news/blue-plaques-announced-2017
  6. Thanks Blossom. Yes, the cancellation is disappointing. I was just on the point of booking!
  7. The JW3 website now states that this event has been cancelled: https://www.jw3.org.uk/event/royal-ballet-genius-sir-kenneth-macmillan?pid=26918#.WIkrT3hFDqA
  8. There are currently some tickets available for all 3 performances. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/les-enfants-terribles-by-javier-de-frutos
  9. Just spotted this on twitter!! https://mobile.twitter.com/IsStevens/status/820724577231925248?p=v
  10. Whittards in Covent Garden now has a 'tea bar'. It's at basement level and so has no daylight, but it is brightly lit. They serve excellent tea I think, with a wide range of choice. Loose leaf, as tea should be!
  11. ROH page now shows Kristen McNally and Thomas Whitehead as cast members (in addition to Yanowsky and Watson, and other dancers named previously) http://www.roh.org.uk/events/xr9n7
  12. An exhibition of photographs by Andre Uspenski will be shown at 91 Brick Lane, London E1 from 28 April. Information from Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=241904602899023&id=241894019566748
  13. Lovely to read these vivid reviews by Sim, Nina G and simonbfisher. Also capybara's, which I've just seen. It was a fabulous day, giving a wealth of exceptional debuts. I loved especially the warmth and grandeur Beatriz Stix-Brunell gave to Sugar Plum Fairy. She and Nicol Edmonds impressed in a very beautiful partnership, and I hope to see more. Personally think Bennet Gartside is RB's finest Drosselmeyer, giving the role both darkness and benevolence, and clearly conveying the enormity of Drosselmeyer's task in summoning supernatural forces.
  14. This may be well known already. Zenaida Yanowsky will be dancing in concert with Bryn Terfel at Grange Park Opera next June: http://www.grangeparkopera.co.uk/whats-on/performance-details-page/?event_id=2742 It may be worth mentioning that Yuri Yanowsky has posted on Instagram that he will be dancing with Zenaida at Grange Park Opera next summer. I assume (but don't know for certain) that this will be at the 'Bryn and Zen' event. To the moderators: I hope it is OK to mention this, as Yuri Yanowsky's Instagram account is open and therefore in the public domain. Please advise if not. Thank you.
  15. Personally I think Matthew Golding gave a very memorable performance as Onegin. I also liked him as Des Grieux, and thought his interpretation powerfully showed how morally compromised DG becomes by the choices made. I hope to see him repeat both roles.
  16. Monica Mason will be discussing The Sleeping Beauty on Radio 3's In Tune tomorrow, Fri 16 December http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b084vwdl
  17. Ed Watson will be the guest on Radio 3's Private Passions on Sunday 18 December: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0855ynh
  18. Kevin O'Hare is 'In Conversation' at Liberty London on Thursday 24 Nov at 6pm. Advance booking. Tickets are £10. http://www.libertylondon.com/uk/liberty-life/what's-on/in-conversation-with-kevin-ohare.html
  19. Although from 2010, I am posting this as a new topic, following some discussion within the McGregor mixed bill thread. Here is a clip of Kim Brandstrup talking about his intentions in creating this work, with glimpses of Leanne Benjamin and Edward Watson in rehearsal: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zw9MZceVa1E I thought that this work had been created on Benjamin and Watson, but would be interested to know if Brandstrup originally made this on other dancers, as he did in part with Ceremony of Innocence before it was staged at the ROH.
  20. Personally think Invitus Invitam a very fine work. I would love to see it again. It saddens me that Brandstrup's work seems undervalued at ROH. He gives powerful choreographic expression to both concept and emotion, drawing on deeper insights than McGregor offers (for me). With the single exception of Infra, McGregor's stage imagery has never haunted my imagination as Brandstrup's does.
  21. I know that I read recently (I think with reference to the ROH rehearsal photos of Anastasia) that Anna is showing a birthmark on her outstretched hand as evidence of her belief that she is Anastasia, since Anastasia was supposed to have had a similar birthmark. Unfortunately at the moment I can't find the feature where I read this.
  22. Roberta Marquez will be dancing in this Gala in Spain in December: http://www.fundacioct.cat/es/programacio/gala-destrelles-del-royal-ballet-de-londres/
