  1. So glad the information was useful. Hope you have a lovely Birthday week, LinMM!
  2. Printed sources for dance history will feature in 'Georgians Revealed', which opens at The British Library on 8 November: http://britishlibrary.typepad.co.uk/untoldlives/2013/10/the-elusive-dancing-master.html
  3. Zen will be dancing in 'Elizabeth', a new work by Will Tuckett, at Greenwich on 27 Nov, in aid of ROH Foundation. Tickets are £1500 for those receiving invitations!!! I loved her interpretation of Tuckett's work at the Whitechapel Gallery about two years ago.
  4. Rambert is offering a wonderful programme of free events, pre-booking required: http://www.rambert.org.uk/our_new_home/rambert_moves_events
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03bfm1f I was enchanted by Deborah Bull's radio essay last night (iplayer link above).
  6. Nehemiah Kish resembles Ralph Fiennes about 20 years ago! Claire Calvert reminds me of Vivien Leigh.
  7. Liam Scarlett's The Promise is now on YouTube. The dancers are Laura Morera and Nehemiah Kish.
  8. In this interview Liam Scarlett speaks briefly about The Promise & the forthcoming Fall for Dance work: http://www.dancemedia.com/v/8710
  9. Mara Galeazzi mentioned this proposed work when interviewed by London Ballet Circle earlier this year. I think she said that it is intended for performance in the Linbury.
  10. Liam Scarlett's pas de deux 'The Promise' had its premiere in New York earlier this week. The Centurion reported on its creation, with a link to a video interview with Liam Scarlett: http://news.centurionjewelry.com/articles/view/forevermark-launches-the-promise-a-branded-ballet-discusses-fall-tv-plans Reports on the event from Style.com and True: http://www.style.com/stylefile/2013/07/cases-of-diamonds-and-a-pas-de-deux/ http://www.true212.com/english/blog/diamonds-and-dancing/
  11. I'm sure many people will have seen this post by Graham Spicer thanks to twitter: http://www.gramilano.com/2013/07/mara-galeazzi-by-her-royal-ballet-friends-and-colleagues/ It's such a lovely post and seems to belong in this thread! (To the Moderators: I hope it is OK to post this link here. Please advise if not. Thanks.)
  12. A few days ago the ROH web page listed [Laura Morera's] Giselle on 30 Jan as a schools matinée. It is now showing as a public performance, and I do hope it will stay this way. I would so love to see her Giselle debut.
  13. I haven't been watching The White Queen, but perhaps I will now! I'm frequently amazed by the resemblance between Nehemiah Kish & Ralph Fiennes (RF in younger days, that is!).
  14. Thanks for all casting information, barton22. Thrilled by the prospect of Morera as Giselle, but sad that she has only one public performance, as I think 30 Jan is a schools matinée.
  15. I do not know the original source, but these cast details for Manon in Monaco were given yesterday in tweets by @dansesplume: 27/6 Benjamin, Acosta, Cervera, Morera 28/6 Nunez, Kish, Soares, Mendizabal 29/6 mat Marquez, McRae, Cervera, Morera 29/6 eve Galeazzi, Watson, Maloney, Crawford
  16. On reading the posts by Margaret and A frog, I remembered an email exchange earlier this year in which the Friends' Office confirmed that the Friends' allocation comprises up to 80% of tickets, and that this allocation is released in full on the date when Premium 2 booking opens.
  17. ROH website now shows Nunez/Soares in all three performances of Symphony in C on 28 and 29 May.
  18. Two ballet novels by Rumer Godden are to be reprinted by Virago: http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2013/5/26/lifebookshelf/13153456&sec=lifebookshelf
  19. Thanks, alison and annamicro, for this confirmation. I wonder why ROH has not announced this guesting news? Thank you also for the link to the cast change page, alison, which I'd not seen before.
  20. I'm not certain that I've read this piece correctly, but perhaps others can confirm whether or not Igone de Jongh is to guest with RB: http://www.theaterparadijs.info/mtp/index.php/dans/1155-igone-de-jongh-gastsoliste-vij-royal-ballet
  21. ROH announcement answers first query by chrischris: http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-changes-symphony-in-c
  22. I've been wondering whether the intention was for Yanowsky to play the Witch as a male character, but perhaps final choreographic choices led to recasting (men lifting men). Speculation only.
  23. Sorry - my editing has failed to correct spacing error in post above.
  24. I enjoyed being wrong-footed, although Scarlett's subversion did not ultimately deliver what it promised. Too hampered by repetition & film references. I thought all performances tremendous and loved seeing the Linbury space so totally transformed.
