Justdance1
My daughter had auditioned for CSB and was put on the waiting list and she couldn't audition for anywhere else because she pulled a ligament in her foot if my daughter auditions for next year for other schools does anyone now if she would be put in first year or would they not consider her because she would be a year older as at the moment she is in year 11. LinMM
I think you may get more response if you put this in the Doing Dance section!!

Kerfuffle
I know a boy who started in the first year at Central aged 17. Other posters have mentioned starting at Elmhurst older too. I don’t think all ballet schools are rigid about staying in your year group. There’s a thread about this on here! Hope your DDs foot recovers soon.
Twirly
There are quite a few people in Central first year now who are a year or two older so don’t worry. It’s a fabulous school and my daughter is extremely happy there. Fingers crossed that she recovers quickly and gets off the wait list.
taxi4ballet
Quite a few take older students, yes. The more contemporary-based schools seem to prefer it, in fact.
Mamaderuby
My DS has just been offered Central, Northern and KS and he turns 18 this June. Age was not an issue at these 3 schools. However, he was advised by Elmhurst that he was too old to start in first year of the diploma course, and suggested he audition for direct entry into 3rd year. He did not do this as he did not feel experienced enough. I know Rambert certainly take older students too. Hope she recovers soon and fingers crossed she'll get a place off the Central waitlist. Best of luck .
taxi4ballet
Yes, I think for places like Tring, Hammond and Elmhurst it is more difficult, because the first two years of the upper school training are basically their school 6th-form.

Dancing unicorn
KS Dance is more Ballet based rather than contemporary! And will take 16 and 18yr olds for their Diploma! 💗
glowlight
I'll just throw Northern Ballet School into the mix. When my dd started there were students ranging from 16 to 26 in the first year. If she is still interested in going this September, and is recovered from her injury, it could be worth contacting NBS and seeing whether she can make a late application in the circumstances. Not at Hammond. Many apply age 18 after taking A levels.
OnlyDance
There were 18 year olds at my DD's Hammond audition
taxi4ballet
That's interesting to know about Hammond, it is a few years ago since we were on the audition merry-go-round, and for some reason Hammond was one that slipped through dd's net and she never auditioned there. Can't remember why now, but I don't recall them offering all the courses then as they do now.
Jewel
A lot has changed recently but the only thing that has changed in terms of the college level courses offered is that the post 16 Level 3 drama course (Btec) has now changed to be called Theatre Arts and students choose either drama or music specialisms. This is for 16 year olds and there is no funding (there may be a few scholarships). As far as I aware it is still Level 3 A level equivalent and designed to prepare for entry to drama school/university/conservatoire. The DaDa funded courses in Dance or Musical Theatre which I guess are the courses most on here would be interested in have always been open to anyone aged 16-23. I think the fact that A levels are offered alongside perhaps have confused some people who assume it is 6th form education only. A levels were optional and when my child was there anyone who didn't opt for them did a fitness teaching qualification instead. 1

MaguiRP
You could also look at London Studio Centre. There is a good number of 16 year olds going into the classical ballet stream in September. If their auditions are finished, it might be worth reaching out anyways.
