zxDaveM
I see that a horse called 'Vadream' won at Newcastle this evening, at 6/1. And no, I hadn't backed it....

capybara
The owner is a huge fan of the RB and of Vadim Muntagirov. He and his family regularly travel abroad with the company on tour. (Just to add that I know who the owner is by chance. The horse is news to me but, given the family’s enthusiasm for ballet, it’s name cannot be simply coincidental. 🐎 ) Edited November 18, 2020 by capybara

zxDaveM
I see Vadream (slightly misnamed, I feel, as she is a filly) runs in the Fred Darling Stakes (a trial for the filly classics coming up) at Newbury tomorrow (Sunday). 33/1 if anyone interested! 🙂

LinMM
Now if a horse named Vadream had been in the Grand National I would definitely have picked that on name alone!
zxDaveM
I see Aiden O'Brien's colt 'Bolshoi Ballet' is 2nd best in the betting at 8/1 for The Derby in early June. Fill your boots!

zxDaveM
Vadream lines up for the first fillies classic of the season, the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday. An outsider, at about 20/1 Another ballet connection (sort of) - Lazuli is fav for the Palace House stakes at Newmarket tomorrow

Perhaps 10 furlongs, rather than today's 8, is in her future. Shame my bookie only paid the first 4 home though (each way) Lazuli won on Saturday though

zxDaveM
Aiden O'Brien's joint fav for the Derby, Bolshoi Ballet, runs in the big Derby trial in Leopardstown this afternoon. Now Bolshoi Ballet about 2/1 for the Derby itself on the first Saturday of June

Going back in time ... when I had my horse phase my favourite famous horse was Nijinsky. I hadn't discovered ballet then but I read the biography of Vaslav Nijinsky because of his equine namesake.

Jan McNulty
As a Links person can I just say that people should be banned from naming horses after anything or anyone to do with ballet - horse racing is most of what I am getting in my news feed!!! (I exempt Nijinsky from this statement as I wasn't doing the links then and because his name led me to reading a biography of Vaslav Nijinsky and sparking my gradual interest in ballet!)
