mimi'smom
I watched on Friday but can't give any informed opinions due to my lack of ballet knowledge! But I did think it was a lovely snapshot of the week and the PDDs were stunning!
tutugirl
Yes I watched on Friday , as had a former pupil there . Pleased to say she looked fabulous . Dance*is*life
I watched classes there a couple of years ago and was very impressed with the standard. We were driving up to Scotland and stopped off in York. My husband did sightseeing and I did ballet seeing! I would love to send pupils there, but it's hard enough to send them overseas to London, never mind to get them up to York!
SwaybackSapphire
As a mum of a non-vocational student, DD is a senior associate and was offered a full time place at Tring, anyone any advice whether DD would be capable?
Kat09
Hi SBS I'm sure as a senior associate your daughter would be capable anywhere - congratulations on her places to Tring and don't worry many non vocational girls at ybss Edited July 27, 2015 by Kat09
SwaybackSapphire
Thank you Kat09. Cant take up the place at Tring this year unfortunately, had waiting list for an MDS place though. Need to win the lottery!! Â Will definitely consider YBSS for next year x

LinMM
The same Joe Sissens who danced in the recent RBS show? He's a great (was going to say little but not so little now) dancer and still hasn't finished trainings! Â Was at the YBSS two years ago and he was one of those who stood out then! Billyelliott
Can anyone tell me what age is the cut off for Junior /vs Senior - my DS is adamant he won't go if he has to do baroque with Juniors instead of contemporary with the seniors ! Lifeafterballet
When Dd did it at the end of year 8 she was put in the middle group, A2. Then last year at the end of year 9 she was put in the older group, A1. I think it was based on the scholarship audition. X
LinMM
I seem to remember that when you get there is some room to negotiate a bit if not happy with child's group. Â My friends DD was put up a group when she was there at 13 as she would have been out of place in the junior group as both more advanced ballet wise and more "well developed" than most in that group that particular year!
Dreamy11
I would really like to hear people's experiences of this summer school. What age are you classed as a senior as it talks about being / passing elementary standard? Also what do the classes consist of? How many classes a day, how many children in a class? Food? Accommodation? House staff? Thank you so much!
amos73
I have a few questions too - how does it work with auditioning for scholarships? Do you still have to apply as normal and pay the upfront £120 then apply as well for the scholarship audition? And does everyone who applies for the scholarship audition get asked to the audition? It wasn't clear on the website.  Thanks
SwaybackSapphire
Would have loved to apply for DD but she is still at school when it starts, the same goes for RBS. Â I expect this applies to a lot of children that attend state and some private schools. What a shame, maybe next year!
LinMM
How very irritating of them!! Â I was wondering whether many vocational dance schools will have finished by then so it's all been arranged to suit those candidates more!! Also many ordinary Private schools will finish that first week end as well. It's the state school candidates who are mainly disadvantaged in this choice. Though of course many students from the continent eg France and Germany will already be on holiday by then.
SwaybackSapphire
LinMM I asked her school for leave earlier on in the year to attend and was told a resounding no. Â DD is however attending OPES again and is excited about that. Â Do feel a bit that it's aimed at a particular audience, never mind!

swanprincess
Is this summer school quite hard to get in to? Am thinking of applying but not sure I'd stand much chance of getting in!!x
SBallerina
Swanprincess: I attended it 3 years ago. I did my advanced 1 exam that spring and was supposed to start advanced 2 after the summer break. I am not in vocational school and I was 17.
