  1. My comments aren't related to the ROH but the provincial theatres that I usher at and yes we are fully briefed and all or Duty Managers are skilled in the specific training mentioned above sadly this doesn't solve every problem we encounter. Most of our audiences are fabulous.
  2. What training would you suggest, we are all fully briefed and if they still persist the Duty Manager deals with it. Even they can sometimes have problems getting them to stop using the phone without creating a disturbing incident during a performance, particularly if the culprit is mid row. We honestly do try!
  3. From my experience as an usher I am not sure those who are not respectful of theatre etiquette would take any notice of them at all.
  4. Yes both very young and referred to as "baby ballerinas"
  5. You wonder why the feed was OK to some cinemas and not others.
  6. No it was all good and much appreciated by the audience
  7. I also do voluntary work in theatres and agree it's so difficult to gain their attention and get them to stop. Some people can be quite abusive when you ask them to stop using their phone. Be assured we do try and do our best in our theatres here.
  8. Impressive number of candidates selected from Ballettschule Theater Basel
  9. Central School are also good for this.
  10. I think most schools will carefully consider 18+ boys for training. Good Luck to him.
  11. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen in the 80's, I do realise this was a long time ago.
  12. Please feel free to move to whichever forum you think best I have 15 assorted hard back books about ballet free to a good home but would need to be collected from South Sussex. If you message me I can give more details, just didn't want them to go to the tip as a bookseller doesn't want them and the local charity shops don't take hardback at the moment.
  13. I am surprised you were given a reason for not being offered White Lodge, is this a change in policy as they never used to give reasons.
  14. A friend of mine has a son who has been accepted on this, she was under the impression it is run by Rambert. I hope I am correct in thinking that they just use their premises. She is anxious for him to be dancing with more boys. He is 12, does anyone know how many boys there would be in this age group. Has anyone current experience that they would be willing to share. Many thanks
  15. Certainly completely disagree with the comment "ballet dancers never choreograph their own material" . I know of numerous occasions where this has been done. I definitely preferred the previous format. Finding this a little tedious to watch.
  16. Could this be a safeguarding issue mixing adults with minors?
  17. Keep the faith you never know
