  1. Oh I hope she finds her happy place it’s such a shame that our children are silenced so much
  2. there is another post by a X RBS Student doing its rounds she’s in her 2nd year at another vocational ballet school now after 5 years at WL and the video is all about how she didn’t believe in herself at WL and how the new school believes in her and how now she’s been entered into world class competitions and is having an amazing time and is now loving dance and not dancing in fear! 🥲 it’s so sad
  3. Hi has anyone had any news at all? Is any one still waiting for lower school results
  4. Seems like a lot are still waiting on results never mind MDs / recall info so unfortunately maybe a little more wait
  5. I was told before the holidays they still had over 80% of auditions to go through unfortunately, so maybe a few more days before recalls are finalised 🙄
  6. I’d pop it in the post and send Mids Lewis an email and just say sorry for the mix up, Miss Lewis is normally pretty quick on getting back to you but I know she’s now got another assistant by the look of things, they normally have a few days leverage on deadlines in past experience
  7. I know a 2nd year and a 3rd year there both seem to like it, not sure of what the standard is like for those who have qualified through them as I know the acceptance standard is very low as our local collage works closely with them and directs all the students to apply there at 18 ...... look at the faculty and where past students have gone onto since graduating
  8. Is Ballot boost just open to their associates or is it open to anyone?
  9. Afternoon I looking at easter summer schools atm and would like some recommendations please a for a 12 year DS, obviously with what’s going on I know nothing is guaranteed and I know a lot might not continue but I would just like to get a feel and feedback. we’ve not applied for RBS as DS isn’t a 100% ballet dancer more like 80% so ideally somewhere which combines other styles as well. in past experience we did not do our research and attended what we thought would be a good residential but sadly it wasn’t so any personal feedback would be fab xx thank you.....
  10. Such a shame I can’t believe that they can actually treat children like this!! My son got offered a place on an associate scheme and when the results came through my son had just had a operation on his elbow so we went in to tell her at the next opportunity, other children got a well done all over Fb but my DS got was ‘really, I’ll have to phone them to make sure as I didn’t sign the forms!’ And not a well done at all and she said it in front of other parents and his class mates. I’m glad to say my son has gone on from strength to strength at another school now
  11. We didn’t apply in the end as my DS is already in a lot of things and he’s going into year 9 so with all what’s going on we decided not to apply but yes I saw loads get the same email and somebody we know auditioned and has already heard back with a yes she’s year 6 atm
  12. You will find the amount of children selected depends on the size of the Theatre and how many audition and also the standard. One year my DD did it was at a local theatre and the part she wanted was on pointe so she was not quite ready for that roll but her friends auditioned for the same production but at another theatre and got casted in the roll my DD wanted as the standard was not as strong and they took that roll of Pointe if that makes sense and one audition I took my lad to only about 120 who auditioned junior and senior where another we’ve been in took 120 out of 300 + I echo though the teachers are lovely both my two continued to dance trough the first lockdown with some of the teachers my DD is nearly 21 and can’t wait for her brother to audition again just so she can go and say hi and help out 🤣 I am afraid to say if they like it it is very addictive for them 🤣
  13. Hi and welcome to the world of EYB if your daughter loves Ballet and loves the stage then this is for her, my DD has graced there shows 7 times and was left with One production not done and Miss Lewis made her day by letting her take part in this production even though she was more 19 by then and my son has done two productions and loves it too. I can’t remember much as it was a few years ago now but I remember that age group being in tutus with star head bands but depending one the cast the production is tailored to the cast so though someone might say ‘she will be....!’ It dosnt always go that way Be prepared for a very excited little dancer who will be showing you all her new steps 🤣. It’s long days as well especially if rehearsals are in school term. plenty of food and snacks she be fine. Wish her a fab time and would love to hear about her enjoyment
  14. Can I ask for some feedback on stagebox as my son recently did some of the lock down workshops and got an ‘one to watch’ email with a free audition and then I saw loads more post on insta about the same emails!! I’ve know children who attend but not directly. what’s the difference between the weekly and holiday schemes etc etc as we could not attend the weekly ones and how is it working over zoom etc as we’ve are in some good associates schemes and then some others havnt been as good over zoom any feedback be most welcome
  15. Just to clarify the school are doing everything to the letter and we can’t fault this at all as they have made sure that all students are safe and the staff have been amazing all lessons moved over to zoom at the beginning of the first lockdown! but it’s the fact that the uni have reduced the teaching hours and keep moving the assessment dates and contents of the degree. Without
  16. My DD school is affiliated with the local UNI and over the pandemic the Uni have limited there lectures, reduced the practical lessons extended the deadlines and as it stands now some of her practical lessons are ending and the deadlines are now end of April / May!!! My Dd has just phoned me really brassed off to say the least as like she said she went to a top vocational school for the training and the degree was an bonus! If she wanted a degree she would of just gone to any uni and done an in-house degree without the industry training 😡
  17. My DD Studied local never tried for associates as her dance teacher told her she wasn’t strong enough, even at 16 was told it was not for her but she carried on and carried on and turned up to class even when she was ignored by the teacher and @18 she applied for 4 collages as we couldn’t afford any more she got offered a foundation at Laine and that was it her dreams were gone until I met a local dancer who was in her 2nd year at the Hammond told my DD to apply so she did late August for the BA, asked to send in self tapes and she’s never looked back she’s now in her 3rd year now and loving it, who knows what her future holds, Vocational schools are not all what they seem to be I have seen so many drop out or not progressed as much as they are required to, the extra pressure builds up.
  18. My Dd said something about that as she would like to go to Germany lucky enough I think she’s got 7 years left on hers
  19. My DD is in the predicament in other years Id say clear off and do Camp America etc or PGL but even that won’t happen this year by the look of it, My DD is a trained acro teacher also atm she’s Completing her Duke of Edinborough Assesors Qual, ideally an agent would be lovely and her dreams but it’s not looking that way and we’ve tried to keep her focused and keep up with her other interests whilst at Uni, a friend has already offered her a volunteer work at a local special needs sports charity teaching children dance ........ yes some of her friends have discussed a Masters but my Dd is 90% against this as her past two years under lockdown his somewhat deflated her learning curve and she just wants to get out and doing what she loves todo
  20. Yes 100% defo sure and I believe as was told last year by Finance that there are fewer MDS for 21 admissions, so unless they can find money themselves in this current climate things will be tighter this year than ever but that’s the same with every one 🥲
  21. Last year 56 got acceptance letters places for MDS and only about 13 MDs were actually given and all to year 7 this year I believe there are few MDS as they don’t have the same amount each year, a odd few were offered small part bursaries compared to previous years. This was the hammond
  22. Don’t worry about festivals or comps or associates my lad hasn’t done comps in 3 years now and nothing like some studios and he never did a ballet he got offered a place at the Hammond for year 8 whilst a lad who we know had spent a few years as a royal JA and didn’t even make the recalls for year 7 last year my lad has never done royal JA’s etc and only got in at the Hammond associates last year after trying the two previous years with a no and then he got offered a full time place, which we still had to turn down due to funding. it’s all about strength a lot of the time I hope you hear back son it’s a very stressful time at the best of times waiting to hear xx
  23. They may be off this week as a lot have half term
