  1. A Wednesday night would require 2 days off work, an overnight stay and cause multiple childcare issues....please don't tempt me! My wedding anniversary was last Sunday and I woke up next to my mum in a double bed in a Travelodge in Battersea follwing the opening night of Don Q. Didn't see my husband until I got home at 11pm that night. Manon on Valentines Day mignt be pushing my luck...
  2. I wanted two Manons - Bracewell cast on 20th Jan, and Ball cast on 19th. I was thrilled to get SCS for Bracewell, and couldn't believe my luck when I also managed to pick up SCS for the Ball cast. Then the dreaded error message! Lost the Ball tickets, but thankfully, retained the Bracewell ones, which was my must-see cast. In days gone by, if I couldn't get SCS I would have gone for amphi, but not at those prices- I will hold out for picking up an SCS later on. I have a spare SCS for the Bracewell cast if anyone needs it. It's D5, so technically restricted view - but I think it's ok.
  3. Sorry if this has been asked, but is the running time of 2.5 hours accurate? I'm debating trying to fit in the Paul McCartney photography exhibition at the NPG, between ENB matinee and Don Q at 7.30pm (the NPG is open late).
  4. Amazon is currently saying it will arrive sometime between 27 December and 7 April! It lists the publication date as yesterday, so I hope I may be able to pick up a copy in the ROH shop tomorrow.
  5. When I tried to order the Muntagirov autobiography from my local Waterstones back in - I think - June, they said it probably wouldn't arrive before Christmas due to it being print-on-demand. I got it from elsewhere in the end!
  6. I wonder if this will be stocked in the ROH shop. Amazon is saying it will be 3 - 7 months for delivery!
  7. Congratulations on your result! I've done the Leeds ballet retreat half a dozen times. It's great fun. You would be totally fine at IF/Grade 6 standard.
  8. I know Emily (we both studied with Ann Loades). I'll pass this on!
  9. I already have a ticket for myself - kindly provided by a forum members - but am now looking for one for my mum who's decided to join me on my trip. A bit of a long shot but I am looking for SCS or a good balcony standing.
  10. Nothing came up for me when I used the search box for the Nijinksa insight - I had to scroll all the way through all the insights to find it! I also could have done with knowing how long it was going to last - 'extended' and 'afternoon of' is a bit vague when thinking about time off work, childcare, trains, hotels...
  11. I think it was earlier, Jan. Klimentova mentions dancing it with ENB in her autobiography which was published in - I think - 2013 and would have been written beforehand.
  12. Come and join me Dawnstar - I'm in the pub at King's Cross! Hope your train comes soon.
  13. I understand headline pricing as 'tickets from ÂŁx to ÂŁy' or sometimes just 'tickets from ÂŁx' - as opposed for instance to dynamic pricing where prices rise and fall in accordance with demand. So, it fits with what we are seeing - they are playing around with pricing *within* that range, raising prices in the mid and lower ranges of the house so as to maximise yield without impacting on the top price.
  14. I wanted SCS for opening night of Don Q as I'm in London already that day for ENB, but didn't book as there were none left - so didn't book anything in this BP which is the second BP in a row as I also didn’t go to anything at the ROH post-Cinderella last season other than the RBS matinee. Haven't booked anything else although will see Northern Ballet's triple in Leeds and see Ballet Black regularly in York. In the past if I hadn't managed SCS I would have booked Amphi but that's no longer a viable option. For me it's a mix of price hike and unappealing repertoire.
  15. If the website can't handle demand then perhaps they ought to start putting individual productions onsale one at a time - or at least ballet one day and opera another- to stagger demand.
  16. Clicked the book now button at 9am but wasn't put into the queue for several minutes. Once in the queue- after a refresh- I now have a wait time of over 40 minutes. Don't think I'll bother!
  17. I use E&L Dance Boutique in Darlington. I've had shoes fitted all over the place including all the usual London shops - and can't fault Emma who does the fittings there.
  18. Ann trained me for my Intermediate Cecchetti. A formidable woman with many strings to her bow. There aren't many left like her and she is greatly missed!
  19. Yasmine Naghdi has brought me to tears twice in the last 5 weeks. Once in the Cinderella act 2 pdd (when she encircles her Prince in slow controlled chaines) and tonight at the end of the Rose Adage. And does anyone else think she has the look of Fonteyn as Aurora?
  20. I didn't know Lindsay well but she and Keith were always a friendly part of the old ballet.co.uk community. I still have a postcard somehere that she sent me along with a book or DVD; a lovely Ballets Russes costume design reproduction that I had on my teenage bedroom wall. A few years ago I bought a standing ticket from them from this forum and when they handed it over they remembered me from the old days and we had a lovely chat. I've since been Facebook friends with both of them and enjoyed following their updates from lives well lived and full of travel and culture. More recently it was clear Lindsay wasn't getting out and about as much but it was still a shock to hear the news on Monday. My sincerest condolences to Keith.
  21. Lots of students of all ages fail Adv 1 first time - not on overall marks but because they failed one section. I've known people fail on a section (usually pointe) and then do it again in a few months and get distinction. Which variation did you do? Could you look at whether the other one suits you better?
  22. I'm fairly sure Daphnis and Chloe was performed in the early 2000s at the ROH. I seem to remember seeing Cojocaru in it (with Bonelli??) and Nunez in the secondary female role. I think it was filmed for TV.
  23. I think that like me, Dawnstar, you want to see those ballets particularly because they featured so heavily in the Lorna Hill 'Wells' books!
  24. I think Cope is now living in Portugal. The source for that info is publicly available - a report from either Ballet Association or London Ballet Circle from a few years ago.
