  1. Just to warn you that Hammond won’t have an MDS award available for every student. They are awarded to those they consider showed the most talent at the audition. When my daughter joined in Year 7, only 10 of the 18 dancers had MDS awards, the rest self-funded or had help from charities. Apologies if you know this already, but thought I’d better say.
  2. We applied for a bursary for the 2020 summer course - didn’t get one - but DD got a place all the same (was postponed due to Covid so attended in 2021 instead).
  3. @sunrise81DD did Rambert last summer and enjoyed it. The teaching was great, but the ballet standard of the participants was variable, so DD didn’t get so much out of the ballet classes as she found them not that challenging. There those who had not done much ballet to a sprinkling of vocational students. In contrast everyone was very good at contemporary and this is the area where DD felt she grew the most. She really enjoyed it but not sure she’d do it again.
  4. Just a thought but have you checked that your email storage isn’t over quota? This happened to me last month, it froze my email account, with no messages coming in and ones I was trying to send staying in the outbox without my knowledge. I only realised after 24 hours of feeling ignored by everyone! Served me right for never deleting any emails …
  5. There are definitely ‘no’s’. DD had them in years 6-9 before she started getting places/waitlisted in year 10. Heard of several ‘no’s’ last year too.
  6. Waitlist for DD age 15. First time going for the Senior summer school at Covent Garden so pleased to be shortlisted. She’s had a place off waitlist before so 🤞🏻
  7. @kazia1 DD auditioned on a Saturday and we got an email the following Friday. Good luck ☘️
  8. Same here - DD was offered a place following her audition in January. As @BalletBellesaid, funding offers to be sent out from late March. DD thankfully has a few other options on the table, as thinking the accommodation situation in Manchester is not looking too positive atm 🙄
  9. Our Central result came in five days. Good luck ☘️
  10. Just around that level of class not specifically Adv 2 - it would just be to keep up fitness as she’s normally dancing around 20+ hours a week. Any steer on technique or amount of corrections given at specific classes would be great. Thanks so much
  11. I looked at Pineapple and Danceworks, so many classes to choose from and unsure where she’d fit in standard-wise. Any recommendations for particular classes at either of these would be great 🙏
  12. DD has finals for Central on 1/2nd April, her school breaks up on the 24th March however, leaving her with over a week with no class. I can’t see any Easter intensives starting that week (27th March) and her old local dance school only has lessons up to Adv Foundation. There is a studio we can rent locally where she can practise, but feel that attending an open class or two might be beneficial? Does anyone have any suggestions? She is 15. Thanks in advance.
  13. My DD got a place from the WL last year, seemed to be quite a bit of movement. Unfortunately DD is now too old to apply this year for spring! Good luck to you all ☘️
  14. My experience with auditions so far is only for Lower School, but I know of so many talented dancers that got a no after first round auditions from some schools and then went on to get places at finals and offers from other schools. As another poster said, there are those children that will have several offers, but also those that have one or two. All the schools look for different things, so if one door closes, it doesn’t mean others aren’t still open. Good luck to your DD for the rest of her auditions.
  15. I think the moderators have to move it. Well done to your DD. I think the screening is a good idea, as if someone is not quite what the school is looking for there’s not been any outlay for audition costs, travel, hotels etc on top of disappointment.
  16. Three of my daughter’s classmates at her vocational school applied for sixth form and passed the screening. Am assuming if you’re already at vocational school, or receiving a similar level of training, you’ll automatically get through. Think this post needs moving from the ‘for sale’ part of the forum!
  17. No, they offer funded and unfunded places. Unfunded places I believe are offered after the first audition. If you also get an invitation to the funding audition then you have a chance of receiving a Dada if you do well at this stage.
  18. Tring says on its website that auditions are at Advanced 1 standard. Not sure about the others, sorry.
  19. In the rehearsal period from Jan to April my DD had one weekend off rehearsals, she did have several corp roles though and towards the end was understudy to a main role. Rehearsals varied in length from two- six hours depending on what scenes were being rehearsed. Hope that helps and good luck ☘️
  20. My daughter got to finals in 2016 and didn’t get a place on the tour or company. She got to finals again in 2017 and got a main company place. Obviously things might have changed, but as far as I know, about half who go to finals don’t get either. Edited to say - they are very strict about attendance. Illness or vocational auditions are the only reasons allowed to miss a rehearsal.
  21. Size petite. Black and bright blue with Ballet Boost logo on the back. Good used condition. £10 including postage.
  22. Photos are used for initial screening at Tring and also as part of the digital first round at Elmhurst.
