A little insight from a mum who’s Dd got flat no’s from all auditions for yr7. We found an amazing 10hr programme, with an ex professional Ballerina. It was fairly local to us, but DCs came from all over the South East to work with her. Fast forward to 3yrs later, my DD was accepted into a vocational school for yr10 entry. It took a lot of hardwork, late nights and determination from both of them, it wasn’t an easy journey, but it did work out in the end, and she is much stronger (mentally & physically). From my perspective, everything happens for a reason, and I’m not sure she would have been the same DD if she had been successful at yr7.

Nicola Tarry Classical Ballet Training has a 3 day intensive over Xmas based in Kent. Non residential. My dd used to train with her until she started vocational school in Sept and has done this intensive for many years. Happy to PM Nicola’s details if you need them 😊

Terry Hyde - Counselling for dancers - Highly highly recommend. I knew a normal counsellor wouldn’t ‘get’ it, or understand the danceworld. Happy to discuss over PM 😊

My dd is off to Elmhurst in 2 weeks to start Yr10 so it does happen! They also took new yr9 & yr8s. I also know Tring has previously taken new DCs in during these yr groups too. Tring was just the usual screening form and then audition. Elmhurst was a video submission, then an invite to audition. Then both had finals.

Yep! I have one very happy DD. It’s been quite the journey!

It was a yes for my DD for yr10! Thank you to all the parents that helped with advice on here 🥰 I have everything crossed for those still waiting and congratulations to those with a yes 👏

As a mum whose DD got knock back after knock back from age 8 to 11, she is definitely a stronger character now. She stopped auditioning, found a lovely non vocational ballet school and then started again this year for Yr10. It’s been a much better experience all round. Even if it comes to nothing, it has been well worth the journey 😊 All our DCs should be immensely proud of having the guts to go for it! Good Luck to everyone still waiting on news 😊

My DD is a Grishko only girl. I know Devoted to Dance have a fair amount in stock. It would be worth a chat with him if you’re struggling to find them 🙂

Sorry to start this thread again, but if anyone has experience of Elmhurst or Tring at yr10/11 - I would be eternally grateful if you could PM me any info — academics, vocational, pastoral and how they helped with Upper school auditions. Thanks everyone 😊

This was for yr10 entry to dance programme. We were advised to wait up to 3 weeks from audition date 🙂

Tring is definitely out from 2nd Feb arrived in the post yesterday. DD is through to funding audition 😃 Hope there is lots more good news for the other girls 🍀

I can’t help with the associates query, but when I was in Birmingham a few weeks ago I found a wildlife sanctuary in Edgbaston, not far from City Centre. There is a very nice Costa just up the road aswell.
