Hi there. Poor thing I sympathise as bad skin can really get you down. I had a horrid phase as a teen and tried everything, it was more on my back too but found actually the best thing was keeping my skin clean and moisturised and not overloading it. However I can't recommend seeing a Dermalogica consultant highly enough! They do a clear start range for teenagers and if you seek out a good beautician who does it they won't make you buy every item. Just what you need. Initially you want a face mapping facial appointment. They look at your skin through a lens that helps them see what's causing congestion prob areas etc. Dryness causes pores to block then as the skin gets oily with exercise the pores fill. So her skin care regime is paramount. If you do that then I humoured my beautician and bought a starter pack but I now order my Dermalogica stuff from a website called pure beauty (you get free samples and earn money off points too so little bonus!) so much cheaper than beautician prices. It all lasts ages and is worth every penny!! They do a medibac range for problem areas and I use their concealing spot treatment on the odd hormonal spot and honestly it's like magic! But the teen range has certain things too. I wouldn't be tempted to buy and try until a face mapping. But that'll tell your daughter what's going on and then give her confidence with how to look after her skin. I'm rubbish at drinking lots of water but that's v important too!

Yes but he's also the most sought after one. It's to do with their lighting and background. Steel blue colours and olive green seem to be very popular too.

It would be worth asking the photographer as he may have a preference. For example this year one photographer asked for white or red.

314 is the only Swiss Candidate this year I believe. I think she is lovely, she competed last year as well. But it does mean she is eligible for the Swiss prize so it will be nice if she gets a final and gets that.

Sorry for repetitive question but wondered if anyone knows how long regional RBS prelim results take to come and if they tend to be letter or email? Or do they wait until after all the prelims to send results?

Hi CeliB sorry not been in touch sooner. Really sad to hear this BUT I've seen so many kids here go on somewhere at 16 and have it all fall apart it's soul destroying so thank goodness you have plans in place and he's not being wasted! Some places just don't suit some- I've seen more give up in this country during/after vocational training than I can count. So potentially a much happier ending for you all and wishing him all the very best! Do keep us posted. And if there is any warning you think I need to hear please inbox me x

As the classes are primarily adults I would call and ask. It is not unusual for full time vocational 18plus to do an elementary level class as well as the intermediate/ advanced ones. They may have classes aimed at younger students but I would advise to ring them

Knowing how beautiful CeliB yr DS technique is it sounds like he needs to keep building the foot muscles. There may be some ideas in 'The Dancers Foot Book'. Also some of the Advanced Progressive Ballet a Technique work incl the foot exs wld really help him. (You can buy the DVD) Marie Walton Mahon the creator is really really helpful (and also H Lee's old teacher who has those gorgeous banana feet too!) you can contact her direct on Facebook. I'm sure she will have some constructive suggestions. ????

I Echo Dancemad. That is absolute nonsense. I've had many students go on to both careers who have stayed with me until 16/18. And that is without any associate programme. On the contrary one student who went to ENBS was told how excited they were for her as she had so much potential and hadn't even started full time training. Elmhurst take a lot of non vocational students at 16 so I don't understand how your student has had that feedback. Personally I feel a student who can cope with the rigours of dance training for hours after a full day of 'normal school', and all weekend, shows just as much dedication and stamina as a student who has been in a tailor made environment.

back to the question. Just a tip to look at situations/relationships and not just well known characters. The ill mother/daughter gets done a lot too but that sort of thing.

It really doesn't make any difference IMHO I have had equal number of students gain year 7 places with or without associates and all our 15+ students have gained places with full funding without being in associate schemes as they don't attend them but we do our own specialist free work classes. I certainly think the upper school ratio of senior associate to school is very very low so do what is right for your child and your family.
