  1. Thank you, capybra. I went in queue also, but have just been cut off as I reached no10 . I give up!
  2. Congratulations to Elizabeth Harrod and Steven McRae on the birth of their daughter, Audrey, yesterday 4 December!
  3. Like you, Mary, I treated myself recently to a seat in the Grand Tier for the Ashton programme! You can imagine my reaction when a lady, who was sitting next but one to me at the end of the row, talked to her companion during the triple bill at various points and draped herself over him at times for closer interaction - perhaps she felt that appropriate in the back row! At one point she dropped an object which clattered to the floor - needless to say during a quiet section of the music. She staggered out noisily before the end of the second interval; she was very drunk. The usher apologised and said that he was not going to let her back in after the interval. I passed a comment about how shocked I was and had never seen such behaviour before in ROH. It was clear from his reaction that it was not the first time he had been obliged to deal with someone in that state!!
  4. Congratulations! I much enjoyed reading Julia's insightful posts, though must confess that I'm not exactly in the target age range!
  5. Chrischris. Just seen your comment on Steven McRae. I thought that both his and Roberta's performances were excellent, very thoughtful, without any trace of showing off. It was an emotionally charged performance and people near me were also moved and impressed by them both. They both captured the essence of their respective characters very well, as did Valentino.
  6. On ROH website - due to injury Sarah Lamb will replace Lauren Cuthbertson in the title role on 5 and 9 October.
  7. We lost at least the first ten minutes of the performance. The cinema manager blamed the Russians! Did anyone else have this problem? The dancing was brilliant, but lacking warmth, emotion & flair in the first act - perhaps this was with missing the beginning. The second act was very colourful, crammed full of vitality, a real feast; The Shades in act three were amazing. Tereshkina was technically outstanding, looking as though she was born on points, but for us unengaging and devoid of emotion. I too have looked for a full cast list without success.
  8. At least with the recording you may be able to skip the lengthy intervals, which were far longer that they had announced they would be. If you want to see him dance again he’ll be in a programme of five ballets at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris on 4 and 5 November. This includes "Odyssée", which he has choreographed & in which he will dance with his wife, Clairemarie Osta For details see - http://www.theatrechampselysees.fr/danse/danse/carte-blanche-a-nicolas-le-riche?from_calendar=1 He’ll be back at the same theatre in March 2015, involved with an opera, « Solaris » by Dai Fujikura. After his 42nd birthday in January Nicolas was obliged to retire under POB rules and gave an interview where he was said to be angry that after being with the national company and the school before that for a total of 35 years, he was not offered a post of any kind. He is now studying at Sciences Po on a management & leadership course. He did a tour with a show called Itinérances in France earlier in the year, visiting Amiens, Blagnac, Cannes, Aix, etc, with a group of fellow étoiles, including Leonora Abbagnato, Isabelle Ciavarola, and his wife. Choreographer Russell Maliphant was involved. He came to London too, of course. His last main role was as Quasimodo in Notre-Dame de Paris in June, where he received another 20 minute standing ovation..

  11. Charlie4 dancin, these links can be so temperamental, can't they?. I've just clicked on it and it worked- ours not to reason why! I found it by googling "Erik Woolhouse" ballet, so that may be the easiest way to it. Good luck.
