  1. Got dd's dates for Tring and Hammond but nothing from Elmhurst. Has everyone else experienced Elmhurst taking longer to reply?
  2. Just a quick question, I've printed out the photo requirements for Hammond (yr9) are all positions in tights and shoes except tendu in enface positions both sides which is says bare feet or are all photos bare feet, I'm confused!
  3. Please can someone tell me if my dd was to be offered a funded place (yr9) what will we still need to pay for, there are always hidden costs and would like to be fully prepared!
  4. Please can somebody tell me what actually happens on the audition day for Tring/RBS and Elmhurst. I found a time table of the whole day for Hammond but not the others. Are they as a class or solo? My dd would be auditioning for yr 9 btw. Any feedback would be greatly received.
  5. My dd's plan originally was to audition at sixth form but she has now said she would like to try earlier. I realise there are fewer available places but wondered about re-auditioning after receiving a no. Thanks for the replies.
  6. Yes that's the 4 I mean, as from what I can see these are the only 4 that offer funded places.
  7. I know vocational school are talked about alot on the forum but I just wondered, do some children re audition the following year if they get a no the first time round? I realise it's an expensive rollercoaster but for example do some children audition for the top 4 age 12 and just keep trying age 13 and 14? Then again age 16 (so not to disrupt GCSE's) ?? Any comments/experiences welcome.
  8. My dd is year 7 (going into year 8 in sept) and did some pointe.
  9. I agree, I can't recommend OPES enough, my youngest DD will be old enough to attend next year so both girls can't wait. My eldest DD gets terribly homesick but she wouldn't miss it for the world, she has grown both emotionally as well as technically in her dancing.
  10. I have recently started using firstposition.com and I can highly recommend them, delivery came next day and when I ordered the wrong size tutu returns were simple and free!
  11. My dd went to the intermediate foundation course at Leeds and found it useful. She said they were given some corrections but mainly it gave her confidence in knowing she was ready for the exam (which was a month later). She also did the variations course which was in the same venue on the same day and enjoyed that too although it meant she had to also do the variation her school hadn't chosen and she didn't know. I think she will do the course again before her next exam.
  12. The BRB are doing workshops to run alongside their Beauty and the Beast tour if anyone is interested, http://www.brb.org.uk/DfL-Training-on-tour.html
  13. They are doing workshops to go with the Beauty and the Beast tour if anyone is interested. Hope the link works http://www.brb.org.uk/DfL-Training-on-tour.html
  14. Thanks for that, my 2 dd's are interested. Does anybody have experience of this summer school?
  15. Hi Shygirlsmum, from what I understand those who were offered places had to complete and pay before half term so I guess they know who has accepted by now? Well done to her for getting on the reserve list on her first audition.
  16. My dd has just done her Inter foundation Ballet Exam and the certificate says "the candidate has been awarded 28 credits" are these the UCAS points you mean?
  17. Hi my dd is on the reserve list too, she is 11, she was on the reserve list 2 years ago too but never heard anything else. She got a no last year so at least she is happier this year with being a reserve.

  19. I'm so glad you started this thread as my dd age 11 also lacks confidence. She is currently studying Intermediate foundation and takes the exam in 3 weeks. Recently her anxiety has got so bad that she has small panic attacks before going into her associate class, any audition and even her local class. It got to the point where I told her she didn't have to do any class and did she want to stop dancing? but she replied "no mum, I want to do it, I want to be a dancer I just don't want these feelings and be the child that cries every time". For my dd it's not just her dancing but in life generally she is very shy and timid. I just pray her lack of confidence doesn't stop her from doing what she wants in life.
  20. My dd started the new Grade 5 tonight and really enjoyed it, she has been doing the old syllabus for nearly a year but is now going to be doing the new grade 5 exam in the autumn.
  21. Does anyone know if Hamonds associate program is ballet based or a mixture? Also am I correct in thinking it's held monthly?
  22. It would be great if you could confirm spax.
