  1. It's a yes for our DD too, one very happy girl and 2 proud parents
  2. taxi4ballet to be honest I think her jazz class is more jazz/modern as they do work on strengthening their core muscles. Maybe someone can tell me the difference between jazz and modern as in dd class they also add a bit of street/hiphop so a real mixture as they don't do any exams only ballet RAD exams.
  3. My dd is 9 and can't wait to start contemporary dance lessons but her teacher says she needs to be older as it involves a lot more body control, (she currently does ballet and jazz). Her teacher also said she may start offering a more toned down form of contemporary class next year for dd age group but my question to you all is what age did your dc start contemporary lessons?
  4. Well done to everyone with a Yes and sorry you got a no smallbythesea, my dd just opened her letter and she is on the reserve list which she is thrilled about, I guess we are in for another long wait now to see if she gets a place offered and if not then so be it and we'll look forward to the next audition and summer schools.
  5. Stardancer my DD is 9. I'm sure if you contact them your DD could do the final day of summer school, we were given the option to attend 1, 2 or all the days when I spoke to Peter. I'm guessing there will be 2 age ranges for the associate schemes? well done to your DD btw.
  6. Hi stardancer, how many were at the audition? my DD is doing the summer school and being auditioned then but I just wondered how many were there on the 3rd june?
  7. It was my DD first audition for York Scholars yesterday too and have to say she loved it and said it was "awesome!" Whether she gets a yes or a no she had a great time and it was a great boost to her confidence. Good luck everyone x smallbythesea it was great to speak to you in person at last x
  8. Thanks I'll have a look.
  9. As we are on the topic of dying please can anybody confirm that if I dye white pants in tea they will come out flesh coloured? I need flesh coloured pants for my 9 yr old dd and can't find any anywhere but heard tea is good?
  10. Is it me or is £70 for 3 days summer school at the Newark venue cheap? Has anybody had anything to do with the midlands associates at Newark?
  11. Yes thank you Angela but it's 2 hours away from me, although I have heard of people who do 2 hour journeys to classes each week!
  12. It was actually on the RBS website that I found out about the day at the centre, I think it's just a case of regularly checking all the dance websites, that's what I do, plus of course checking any posts on here. I've been following this forum for ages but just taken the plunge to join!
  13. Just a quick question to those who were involved this year, was anything mentioned about when the EYB will be back in the area or what they'll be doing in 2013?
  14. (this is my first post so "Hello") I believe the EYB have been to York in the past and may be coming back in the future, also there are workshops etc at Northern ballet at Leeds. My dd attended the RBS JA for a day at The Yorkshire Dance Centre also at Leeds, so there are some things out there.
