  1. My poor dd has had a bad couple of weeks! She has had 3 bad blows to the head at separate times at school. The last time she was knocked out and when she came to she couldnt see for 10 minutes and was numb all over. She had to spend the night in hospital and have all sorts of scans. The hospital have said that she is suffering from concussion and she must not read, watch tv or do any activities for up to 10 days. She cant even move her head a little without it hurting. She is never accident prone and it couldnt come at a worse time as that evening we were going to film the rest of her DVD audition and send it off before travelling to England in 10 days for her Elmhurst and RBS auditions! She is so upset about not doing the DVD as she worked so hard and also missing classes before the auditions. I think i should rap her up in cotton wool for a while and then we might make it to England!
  2. Pas de chat,we have Elmhurst on the 22nd and sending a DVD for Tring. Wow!you have a very busy time ahead of you! Good luck and by the time you get to the RBS audition it will be a piece of cake!
  3. Thanks pas de chat I think I will give them a ring.If we have the same time maybe we can meet up.
  4. Has anybody had more info on the RBS Jan 26th audition.Im still waiting for the time ect. Thanks
  5. Hope everyone had a great Christmas xxx
  6. What about Lewisham college foundation course.I think it's free and the dance is good and they also do singing. My friend when there and they study ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, choreography, dancehistory, singing and more. They have a touring company and you can take a level dance if you want.
  7. I think it might be better to ask a good rhythmic gymnastic teacher to teach turns. My dd has learnt pirouettes both ways and they are technically different from each other. It's quite difficult to learn multiple ballet pirouettes if you haven't learnt correct posture and turnout which takes a long time to master in the first place.
  8. I thought it looked fine.Sort of what I expected
  9. My niece works at the Mayfair and we stay there for £50 a night encluding breakfast!
  10. I was very confused about this situation myself! We are sending a DVD for the Tring audition but going to Elmhurst and RB. I am trying to leave it as long as possible before sending the DVD as I don't know what the out come may be from the other schools! She may not get into any but it is so much money for a deposit, actually £5000 for us as we are abroad!

    Fouettes

We have a Russian and royal ballet trained teacher and I have asked them both about fouettes! The Russian teacher showed me,and you have to flick your foot in front and then behind in retire and then out to second.I personally think it does not look as nice as the rond de jambe version and looks messy.I would defiantly suggest she is taught the other way.
  12. Went through a practice run filming everything. It was interesting watching it back as i now know where to position the camera for the best out come. Also dd watched it and found it a great help to clean up the bits she was not happy with.
  13. i hope everything goes well for your dd.I have really enjoyed reading about your dds auditions.Good luck with all the results xxx
  14. What's the name of the shop?the link is not working for me.thanks.
  15. Jane We got the same info with our conformation audition for year 7 LS.Couldn't help thinking that they maybe liked my dds photos to send the info about ss to us!but then realized that everyone got the same letter!nice thought while it lasted!
  16. Hi, anyone going to audition on the 22nd January for year 7?would be nice to meet. Well done to the those who got through to the finals and so sorry to hear the no's.
  17. Hi,my dd has 26 th of January,no time yet. Anyone with the same date as us?
  18. Hi Pastel This DVD thing is driving me mad! Our studio is on the small size and when my dd is doing her grande allegro I can't fit it in properly. She has to make it smaller and it looks like she is just marking it! Also the barre has two levels,my dd has to use the lower barre and when she has to balance with arms in second it's the same level the arms should be!
  19. The police in Turkey carry guns. What I don't understand is how they stop people in cars randomly but ignore the motorbikes with entire families on them.Normally the man is driving with a helmet and the woman on the back with all her children and very young babies wear no protection.! I have never experienced any problems with the traffic police but have been stopped for speeding a few times and fined even though I know I was not speeding. Oh and red light means go for some people!
  20. must admit the evenings are great. If anyone ever comes to Antalya you must try to see a ballet at Aspendos,an amazing ancient open air Theater. The dancers, music, setting, warm evening with the stars and a glass of wine!Heaven.
  21. I also noticed in recent years here that when summer comes it happens over night!one day i have my jumper on and then the next day full blown heat bikini weather! No gradual build up.
  22. LinMM When i moved here 9 years ago, im sure it did not get dark so quickly! I find it so funny when i face time or skype England and its dark in Turkey and sunny in the UK especially in the summer.
  23. So not much difference then! The one thing i do like about it getting darker is that my kids get tired and think its so late that they go to bed without looking at the time!great peace and quiet for me!
  24. Going back to the time!it gets dark here about 4.30pm.We change the clocks the same as the Uk.Soon it will be earlier! So when the kids come out of school at 4 it will be dark!I don't see the sense. What time does it get dark in the Uk at the moment?
