  1. So sorry to hear your news Taxi. Hope things work out for the best, sending all my love xxx
  2. Taxi my point was different, I would like nothing better for my dd to train in the Uk regardless of where she ended up working. But as it's so expensive to train in the Uk, there are other fantastic schools abroad that are affordable,I know it's easier said than done and lots of youngsters would not want to leave their families but for those feeling confident enough they should really look into it as after all lots end up working their first jobs abroad anyway!
  3. All you have to look at is where the current top company dancers came from and unfortunately as I have learnt from this forum not many trained in the Uk! A high number of Uk graduates start their profession abroad because there is not enough jobs for dancers in the Uk! Not many from the big 4 end up in the top companies in the UK, and the Uk schools are not the only schools directors look at.
  4. This is very sad.Everyone you really need to start looking at 16+ over seas training.Much cheaper and some in Europe would be free!! Even in Turkey there are state funded ballet conservatories and you don't pay a penny!I am English and this is just a little reminder why I decided to move abroad!Absolutely disgusting!!

  7. My ddS arches have also improved over the years.Well I think it is the ankle joint that has gained more flexibility along with the other joints of the foot and the muscles in the foot have got more fexible due to pointing so much. However,i can see that there is a limit to how much more she can achieve.
  8. Ahhh, I feel so nervous for you all!!! What will be like next year when my dd auditions!!
  9. Sorry it's meant to say Redroof Theatre school!!can a mod change for me.
  10. Just wondered if anybody knows anything about this school? I know it's a musical Theatre school but just wondered about the dance side.It says they do ballet, modern ect but how much? Thanks xxx
  11. I think my friend meant after talent they looked for a pretty face. As for height, she is the same height as me, 5ft 1 and is in her early 30s so maybe thats what they wanted then or they don't mind tall or short. She had a great job in a Portugues company for 10 years or so. I think my dd will be short like me!! But I believe if she is good enough then it should not matter.
  12. Just reading through this old thread and found it very interesting! I have a friend who went to the RB upper school. She is a teacher now and she told me that they do like pretty girls and it does count at the audition!!

  14. Well done to your dd Taxi.Sad to hear about the funding. Will she be auditioning for anywhere else?
  15. Just wondering who has seen it and what your views are?which actors did you like and favorite bits of the movie. Won't be out until March for me!! I'm waiting patiently. Thanks
  16. Well, i had to try and it was very easy with a straight back. And the cereal game I played with my friends and I could do it with a sheet of paper!! I will ask my dd to try when she gets home. Is there any other exercises that us non royal ballet associates can practice to help for audtions? it would be much appreciated. Thanks xxx
  17. Happy birthday and a very big thank you all the way from Turkey xxx
  18. Merry Christmas and a happy new year all the way from Turkey xxxx
  19. KathyG, I think you are right that mds should continue into 6th form, someone said that schools now finish at 18,so the vocational schools should be the same. How does this work? Does everybody have to continue and do A levels at their schools now? As for funding, it does not look good,I am seriously thinking of looking abroad even for lower schools!!
  20. iTunes have first position movie now! Not sure about the Uk store, you can send gifts to people straight onto the apple things!!!
  21. Thanks alot for all the advice. One good thing is it seems to be getting better with rest but I will still get it looked at, hopefully by someone that understands the dance world!!
  22. Anjuli, thank you so much, it has been worrying me and she is so sad about the situation.I think I will go to the opera and ballet theatre here and see if they can recommend someone to me,I know this will be our only option. When you say stretch it, do you mean by flexing it, and stretching the hamstrings?her achilies are very flexible maybe to much, but I have noticed that when she takes class her legs are not always completely straight when in releve, could this be a reason?
