  1. Any advice for me! My dd has a pain in her achilies that only comes when she fully points her foot. She can walk, run, jump and fully flex her foot with no pain at all.I stopped her from doing any jumps, releves and pointing her foot and it is getting better but very slowly.Could this be growing pains as well?It started about a month ago.I want to take her to a doctor but I don't think they will take us seriously as it is only when she fully points and where I live they will think I'm being over the top also because she is only 9!I'm sure they will say " stop pointing then"
  2. I swear my dd looks as if she has swayback and a little bowed!can it be? Standing in first position she needs a space between her feet to have straight legs, sitting on the floor and straightening her legs her feet come off the floor, but when standing in parallel it looks like her shins are slightly bowed without changing the shape of the muscles around her leg?!! It looks very pretty but I can't understand properly what type of legs she has.She is very flexible but finds it very difficult to completely straighten her legs while dancing on demi pointe and at the bar.
  3. Picturesinthefirelight,do you know if the dance students get to do any of the bigger rolls or is it just the musical theatre students, and do they get a chance to sing.My dd loves both dance and musical theatre and loves singing. Thanks
  4. Hairbelles,do the yr7 get to perform in the MT show? Do the younger ones get to do much in any of the shows? Spannerandpony, my dd is studying Russian also, luck for her that she could start at our school when she was 6,she loves it and has many Russian friends and teachers to practice with.
  5. Jellybeans,I dont know what the problem is! I definatly appreciate what everyone has to say and have also been swayed on certain topics. I think your worrying for nothing. If we all thought the same we wouldn't need this forum! Have to say though,a big thank you to the moderators, without your hard work, dedication and love for ballet and this forum I would of never of gained so much knowledge about the ballet world, training, schools, and life of the ballet mums in the Uk, which has helped me to feel confident enough to help my dd in her dream of being a ballet dancer and making a big decision to return to the Uk for her future.
  6. The reason my dd loves lyrical is that she feels free to experiment with movement and also include things that she looks good doing.
  7. Does anybody know why students cant use any extra padding at rbs?I thought that most students would use what is most comfortable for them.what about at Elmhurst, can they wear different types of padding?

  11. Went out to buy two hot loafs of bread today from the local bakery. After I got home my dh asked where the bread was, we searched the whole house and the car but no bread! Then it finally came to me,I got out the car, walked straight up to the wheely bin and threw the bag in the bin and went inside! What a nutter!!!!
  12. My dd can't make her mind up.She likes all 4 big schools and would be over the moon to go to any of them.I am also not sure which is my favorite, for me there are pros and cons for all of them.
  13. In Antalya there are loads of stray dogs. They are the sweetest and friendly dogs. What happens is the government takes the strays and gives them their injections and puts a tag on their ear and let's them back out.If you want one of the dogs you can take the dog and get the tag taken off and have the medical history. The strays are well looked after on the streets and everyone feeds them. They are sort of part of the community and go around in packs. When I lived in Spain there was one day every year when the government would announce they were going to shoot any dogs on the street!and they did!!!
  14. Flying,my dh is terrified!if he has no choice to fly the minute he buys the ticket he gets panic attacks!

  20. I was thinking the same about no numbers on them.Do they have numbers on for RBS auditions or just look at photos? Seems a bit strange to me,must be something else, but why use the RBS name?
  21. Is this really the auditions for the Royal ballet school? Is it for White Lodge?
  22. My dd is only in year 5 so we have over a year left before auditions start. She is keen on auditioning for the big 4. My question is how to choose the order of auditions?Should you do RB and Elmhurst first as they have finals? What happens if you get into Tring or Hammonds but are still waiting for finals somewhere else? How long do you get before you have to except a place?thanks xxx

    Musicals.

My dd and me are big musical theatre fans.We have learnt most the songs together from all different musicals. Fiz, my dd who is 9 also is dreaming of being in Les Mis.She sang castle on a cloud on stage in front of 500 people, I was so nervous for her but she loved it and it was beautiful. Last time I went to the Uk my friend for a surprise got us tickets to see hairspray,I would of never of thought of going to see that but it was great.
