  1. I have just come across this article on the internet. Carlos Acosta is planning a company of 12 dancers: http://www.plenglish.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4044351&Itemid=1
  2. Hello Ballet Bun and welcome to the Forum! I'm afraid I can't answer your query but I am sure someone will be able to help.
  3. It's where you tint your hair so that it is lighter at the bottom. I suppose if you really know what you are doing you could graduate the tint. My niece had her long hair done last year and it looked absolutely gorgeous.
  4. This article says Ty will be donating all the profits to Oxford University Wildlife Conservation Research Unit: http://fortune.com/2015/08/03/cecil-lion-beanie-baby/
  5. Welcome out of the lurking shadows GillyM. You beat me to it about Scouse accents! Now that you have broken the posting ice, I do hope you will continue to join in
  6. Oh - I shall definitely make the effort to come to London for that Artem. It will be my first time of seeing the company but having read so much about them I am already excited!

  9. That's disgraceful Taxi! I hope you get your DD sorted. Should all children at boarding schools have the jab?
  10. Hello Mellingblomst and welcome to the Forum! I don't know if there is any good time to ask your parents if you can colour your hair! Ask any time they are in a particularly good mood. Perhaps if you could show them a picture of the colour you want it may help. By the way, I love the Royal Danish Ballet and I wish you every success!
  11. Hello Artem, Is there any news of a return to the UK?

  16. Well Ian, you spurred me on! Have any members been to see Cubaniana? Please let us know what you think!
  17. 19-24 year old students are also eligible but need to apply. Thanks for reminding everyone Katymac.
  18. I've seen two performances of Inala over the last couple of weeks - the first a matinee at Sadler's Wells and then on Friday evening at the Liverpool Empire (where, most unusually for me, I saw it from the circle). This is a show with a real feel-good factor - perfect for a light-hearted night out. I've never seen Ladysmith Black Mambazo before so I don't know if they usually move around/dance so much but the singers (as well as being utterly fabulous) really melded well with the dancers. The dance movements were lovely and sinuous and lyrical. I loved the bird head-dresses that were worn from time to time. I found the final 2 sections both moving and uplifting. Sitting in the circle on Friday I enjoyed the lighting effects on the floor (which had completely passed me by in the front stalls at Sadler's Wells). All the dancers looked great but I must mention Jacob O'Connell who is a 2nd year student at Rambert and was, IMHO. sensational! Definitely a young man to watch out for in the future. If anyone else has seen this production I would love to know what you thought.
  19. Thanks for the report Duck - sounds good. I've not made it to the Isle of Wight yet...
  20. If you are (or can be) in Leeds on 19th August, Northern Ballet are hosting a 1984 "Try before you buy" session. Details here: http://northernballet.com/?q=1984/1984-try-before-you-buy-0
  21. I find parking in Manchester ruinously expensive. I tend to use the NCP at the back of the Palace Theatre in Whitworth Street. It's very handy for your venue but last time I parked there for a whole day it cost me £14! It would be much more economic if you could use public transport. BTW, I always enjoy the food and ambience in the Java Cafe, on the slope up towards Oxford Rd station.
  22. I found this via Facebook and thought it was a lovely idea for little stocking fillers or parties and is a nice craft activity for youngsters: http://funcraftskids.com/marshmallow-ballerinas/
