Rehearsals / Shows go - 10th October to January 8th. It's going to be lots of new skills and finding out how this might work as we go, so looking for a collaborative, up for it company. EVERYONE in the show will be interacting with the public up close and as its a family show it means being comfortable with old, young and in the middle alike... and to audiences not just new to dance but also new to this kind of show. Its Christmas so our responsibility is to make it the most magical experience our audience have ever had... If I was a 7 year old I'd want to remember it as the best thing ever.... Or 77 come to that! Thanks so much for reading!!!! C.V.s and photos to : henry.nutcracker@gmail.com !!!! Please don't send things to me personally as it gets everso confusing! 8. I've just picked this article up via Twitter. It sounds intriguing: http://www.standard.co.uk/goingout/arts/an-immersive-new-nutcracker-hopes-to-bring-new-audiences-to-ballet-a3284616.html
  9. Hello Helis and welcome to the Forum. Thanks for the link, sadly I don't speak any German but I will run it through Google translate.
  10. I can't help with the three act Anastasia either. I saw ENB do Act 3 many years ago - with Lynn Seymour and the following year with Trinidad Sevillano. I found it incredibly powerful but it is not conventional ballet. Fille is absolutely joyous. Early in my ballet-watching days I saw it and wrote if off as slight. I cannot believe I made that totally stupid mistake! It may be a lighter subject and it may have the corps skipping around at time but Sir Frederick Ashton creates characters you care about and some of the choreography is the most sublime you are going to see anywhere. The Fanny Elssler pdd is exquisite and gives me a lump in my throat for that reason. If I was booking I would go for Marquez/Campbell (OK I'm biased!) or Morera/Muntagirov. I'm very sad I can't make either of Mr Campbell's performance.
  11. The latest Press Release: Stars of The Australian Ballet begin preparations on two signature works for the upcoming tour to London This week The Australian Ballet commences rehearsals for its upcoming tour to London, where it will perform at the Coliseum, the West End's largest theatre, over a two-week season, from 13 to 23 July 2016. Tail feathers are being shaken and glass slippers dusted off as the company prepares two of its signature works; a return season of Graeme Murphy’s highly acclaimed Swan Lake and a first time London season of Alexei Ratmasnky’s Cinderella. Principal Artists Amber Scott (Odette) and Adam Bull (Prince) with Soloist Dimity Azoury (Duchess) will openSwan Lake, with Rudy Hawkes, Amy Harris and Leanne Stojmenov, Kevin Jackson and Ako Kondo performing lead roles in subsequent performances. Principal Artists Leanne Stojmenov (Cinderella) and Kevin Jackson (Prince) will open Cinderella, followed by Amber Scott and Ty King-Wall, and Ako Kondo and Chengwu Guo. Libby Christie, Executive Director of The Australian Ballet said, “Both productions have become acclaimed works and earned the company rave reviews from critics and audiences across Australia and abroad, so we’re very excited to be bringing them to London next month.” “International touring has been an important regular undertaking for The Australian Ballet. International tours to key cultural centres provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the company to the broader world market. Our international performances allow us to showcase the company's technical excellence, versatility and artistry and assist us to develop future collaborations and opportunities – in this case in the UK,” said Christie This tour has been made possible thanks to the company’s International Touring Fund, an endowment fund within The Australian Ballet Foundation, that provides financial resources to assist the company to regularly present The Australian Ballet on the world stage. The tour is also generously supported by the Australian Government and tour corporate partners News UK and Qantas. “Regular international touring exposes us to new audiences and provides the opportunity to be consistently benchmarked by these audiences and critics against the great ballet companies of the world,” said Christie. Earlier this year ten shipping containers left Australian shores with a cargo of two sets, over 420 costumes and 297 pairs of shoes, including 104 pointe shoes. A touring party of 114 people, including dancers, music staff, wardrobe, medical, technical and company staff, arrive into London on Sunday 10 July. As Australia’s national ballet company, The Australian Ballet has had a long history of international touring, and has visited 37 countries and 87 cities since it was founded in 1962. This tour marks the company’s 25thinternational tour. 14. So sorry it hasn't worked out for this year Katymac. Do press them to continue fund raising NOW so that it is not a mad dash and more disappointment next year. Some of our members have given some really good fundraising ideas above.
  15. A couple of points: 1. Have you had a look at the BRB 2016/17 season Floss??? 2. Dancers can and do disappear within BRB. 3. I agree that dancers in small companies tend to get greater opportunities. 4. Thinking about bullet 3 above, should the Royal Ballet be reduced in size to, say, 70 dancers to help give dancers more developmental opportunities? 5. Light the blue touch paper and stand well back!

  19. He is the Godfather of British dance critics - so eminent that I could not even hope to breathe the same rarified air. I quite often do not agree with him but I can enjoy his reviews of things I have not seen.
