balletmum20
Just a quick question My dd is in year 7 - and they are doing a mock exam this week, -and I've heard they are doing exams in November, - has anyone else heard this??
Picturesinthefirelight
In dance? Â They have annual assessments each year in ballet, tap, modern & usually singing exceot this year I believe they are using the musical as the singing assessments. Â At Christmas you will receive the results of the assessments in a written report.
Picturesinthefirelight
There are also a few students who may be selected for RAD exams in November though April is more usual especially if they haven't studied vocational grades beforehand. Snape
Ballet mum20 I think some of them have a mock exam to see if they are ready for the rad exam they are working towards. Which I think are scheduled for November. Don't worry if they don't get chosen, they can do it later in the year. I think also It is assessments in November, which you eventually get a report from. Eowyn
My dd is in Y8 and some of the children in her RAD class are also taking a mock exam this week. It is for the Teachers to assess if they are ready for their real exam, which I believe is taking place in November. My dd is not doing the mock as she only moved up to that class in the spring and therefore isn't ready yet. I'm sure it's the same for Y7 as well. Hope that helps. balletmum20
Yes there are some year 7s who are having a mock exam today, not sure if they will do the real exam in November xx
Picturesinthefirelight
That sounds in line with what a friends dd also in year 8 said. Â Friends dd had done most of the IF work prior to starting but a lot of the children hadnt so just a few who were ready did their exams in November last year, the rest in the Spring. Picturesinthefirelight
Don't know why I thought she was older. Username confusion! Â Don't worry about the mock exam. Especially if she hasn't studied RaD IF before only a very few do it in November.

Picturesinthefirelight
After having just received a very panicked phone call from another mum  I just thought I'd say - don't worry.  Getting the "we reserve the right to ask children to leave of they are not committed etc" letter is quite normal.  Its been sent to everyone prior to assessments, it is not targeted!

Picturesinthefirelight
Oh dear - I fear they they are going to be inundated! We have had similar letters in previous years but I have a feeling it was more obvious then that it was a generic letter sent to all parents. It just covers the school in the rare event they need to ask someone to leave. angel
 Ah ok. I think it should be sent to those the school has concerns about, especially behaviour.  Parents should know these things
Picturesinthefirelight
I don't actually know whether it's gone to dance/drama students either. I should have thought they would be subject to the same regarding assessments etc but I don't actually know.
