Mary
Thanks so much Amelia. Extremely interesting to compare with the versions and performances we know and love and also very enjoyable indeed in its own right.Tsiskaridze's Widow Simone's slightly too glamorous look works in its own different way- the facial expressions are priceless...Perhaps he is still dancing a bit too ...well.. for the widow... A beautiful production.

Bruce Wall
So wish the Mikhailovsky return to London/the Coliseum - when not, of course, taken up with albeit exciting musicals - in the not too distant future (especially now that they are under the secure reign of the miraculous Messerer.) Denver
Osipova is still dancing a lot with the Mikhailovsky, isn't she? At least when they want to play New York - I don't know about other cities. Mikhailovsky is a known quantity to ballet insiders, but not to most Americans. Osipova was scheduled to dance a lot with ABT at Lincoln Center in June a couple of years ago and planned to dance with Mikhailovsky at Lincoln Center after ABT closed, but ABT invoked their "non-compete" clause and the Mikhailovsky engagement was cancelled. At least the schedule had not yet been announced and no tickets had been sold. I think everyone recognized they could not sell that company without her as the headliner. For the November 2014 engagement in NY, many of us on another discussion board noticed that she was listed with Royal Ballet in London the same week she was listed for Giselle in NYC! Our panic lasted for weeks, until her Royal schedule was changed so she could get to NYC. Now we just have to hope she doesn't cancel for injury or illness, which seems to happen a lot! Melody
It's getting like opera - these international stars flitting about from one company to another and not really belonging anywhere.

Denver
Mikhailovsky tickets are available at a 25% discount until November 10. It looks like it is available for all performances: http://www.nytimes.com/ads/emailads/tw/mikhailovskyballet/20141015/TicketWatch.html This is interesting...Osipova and Vasiliev got a lot of attention in their performances with ABT in recent years, so they are known quantities among the dance fans in NYC and they are both performing quite a lot during the NYC engagement. I don't recall seeing discounts that substantial for either ABT or NYCB in recent years, except for an occasional 1/2 price offer for NYCB at the same-day TKTS booth at Times Square. Shade
Wish the Mikh would come back to London next year - would love to see their Flames and Class Concert. aileen
Yes, I also wish that they would come back to London. However, they wouldn't have the big draw of Osipova as she can now be seen in London throughout the year.
Bruce Wall
You can see the curtain calls for all three ballets in the NYC triple bill by the Mikhailovsky here. Courtesy of our friends in Russia who do not shame at filming everything in sight - legally or not as the case may be - we can get a representative taste of Class Concert with the below referenced cast on the following links: Class Concert (Vaganova, Lebedev, Borchenko, Soboleva, Vorontsova, Osipova, Vasiliev, Sarafanov, Zaytsev) Something tells me they may not be returning to London for quite some time. Given the losses the last time they were in London - most performances being far from full at that expensive rental facility, the Coliseum - and the fact that Keckhman has largely lost his corporate fortune (being declared bankrupt in 2012) - as well as the collapse of the rouble - (although the latter from the UK perspective may be a benefit in terms of supporting them) I fear we may have a considerable interim. That would, of course, be a shame ... as with the Bolshoi. In the 'meanwhile' there will be just so many valuable artists who will slip through the proverbial net (from a Uk audience's perspective).. Bruce Wall
Here's a clip from Flames of Paris which was filmed at the Koch Theatre in NYC this past week. It appears even from this that Vasiliev (ever robust) is not attending to his placement discrepancies in his (as personally stated) dedicated independent regime. Amelia
Class Concert (Vaganova, Lebedev, Borchenko, Soboleva, Vorontsova, Osipova, Vasiliev, Sarafanov, Zaytsev) Thank you, Bruce Wall, for the clips. Just for the clarity may I say that instead of 'Vaganova' there are should be 'the students of the Vaganova Academy'. Nicholas
Louise Levene reviews the Mikhailovsky in the FT and gives 5 stars to each The Flames and DQ, but 3 stars to the triple bill (it would appear from the context that she took away 2 stars for her dislike of the Duato piece). There is also a nice picture by Paul Kolnik there. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b465a958-73cb-11e4-82a6-00144feabdc0.html#ixzz3K3T0S3oM Nicholas, I have edited your post to remove the text of the article.
