  1. I think the waist belt might be referring to girls. The other type of belt is an undergarment for boys when they are a little older I think. The boys I saw last year at auditions were mostly wearing shorts (I think?) But I doubt it matters. What was your ds wearing in his audition photos?
  2. Hi Minn, KS dance in Warrington have a junior programne, I think they follow the same method. I have no personal experience of the school, being from north east england, but I think it's a well known school.
  3. I think that gaining a place on either scheme is a fantastic achievement. With regard to how each scheme prepares its associates, it can depend on the centre dds attend. Dd was an associate of both schemes last year, she auditioned for both schools also. Her teacher from royal taught during the audition, but not her teacher from elmhurst. Royal has the more well known associate scheme of the two, but I believe it has been running longer, and has more centres across the country compared with elmhurst. I also felt that when dd made finals for both schools, her teacher from royal spent some time in classes preparing her and others specifically for finals, where the elmhurst teacher didn't. Again though, both schemes are excellent, and I'm only telling you my experiences from my part of the country (north east england)
  4. Elmhurst was mixed (girls from all year groups on the same day) but they were split into groups(DD was in 1, but had several friends in the other) Rbs only had Y7 girls when DD was there. I think the girls who made it to finals for Y8 upwards were on the same day as the boys
  5. For Y7 last year, there were 39 girls at Rbs finals, and 43 at Elmhurst. I believe it can vary greatly from year to year
  6. The funding audition at Hammond is much the same as it is at Tring. They go for the morning (you just drop off) From what I can remember, there is a ballet class, a free movement class, and a musical theatre class. When awarding Mds, they are looking for potential in classical ballet.
  7. That's the entire Y7. I think there's 12 in the boarding house.
  8. They don't have a set number that they give offers to, they just take who they like from the auditions. The current Y7 has 22 students. I think all Y7 and Y8 auditionees who have been offered a place go to funding finals.
  9. Congratulations to all the yes' Anyone know how many were at the audition?
  10. Yes, there is a bus which picks them up every morning, and brings them back every day. I had similar feelings this time last year, so I can understand where you're coming from My dd is very happy there and it has been said that leaving the school site to go back to the boarding houses feels more like they are coming home If anyone has any questions, feel free to pm me xx
  11. Hi, if you are offered finals for WL there is only one date (should be on the website?) You don't pay again. Best of luck xx
  12. Hi, what are you not sure about? Is it because they are not on site?
  13. It's different every year, I think they just take who they want to see again. Last year, there were over 40 girls and about 15 boys.
  14. There's a Premier inn in Denton, very near where Royal audition is. Hagley road Premier inn in Birmingham is less than 10 mins from Elmhurst.
  15. We waited exactly 8 days last year. Best of luck everyone!
  16. Pictures, dd likes the leotard! I know what you mean though lol. So sad I couldn't go to open day last weekend. I would've loved to have watched a class
  17. Mae, having read your post I understand where you're coming from. I feel as if I've been preparing dd forever re; healthy eating choices. We've let them go off to live elsewhere at such a young age at a time in their lives when they are changing so much. For what it's worth, I do think it's normal to fill out a little before a growth spurt, which I'm sure she's going to have very soon. I may not have seen her dance, but my dd thinks she is fantastic xx
  18. I don't think it matters what style of dance you do. MDS are given based on potential in classical ballet.
  19. They are fine. DD did her IF exam in split sole satin soft shoes in July
  20. Oh Two Ballerinas! Your poor dd Please believe me when I say that she certainly is good enough! Myself and my dd have always thought she is so talented, with bucket loads of dance talent, she's also beautiful to watch. She most definitely belongs at WL xxxxxxxx
  21. Great news tootifruiti! Well done to your dd Older dd is off to Hammond busymum
  22. Thanks Busymum, my older dd got a no the first time too, then got in on her second try - she's off to vocational school in September too Younger dd was fine, she's already asked to try again next year!
