  1. Yes, and I think it’s the way in a lot of companies that dancers get their ‘break’ when a more experienced one is injured or indisposed. Otherwise how else would they get the exposure or experience. Or - they get thrown into a big role straight away at a young age. I think this was/is common in NYCB, from what I’ve read/heard. Sarah Mearns as Odette/Odile for example. In a ballet like TWT Perdita is not the only main role anyway, it’s less of a big role than Juliet I would have thought? Can’t comment yet though as I’ve only seen clips of the ballet.
  2. I think I watched this on Marquee TV or somewhere with Sarah and Vadim, and Marcelino/Beatriz as the lead dancers round the tree (not sure exactly which combination, I think Hirano was Leontes but not sure). Such delightful music and the set looked enchanting, as well as the beautiful dancing.
  3. I'm also interested in hearing about it - I've got a ticket for tomorrow evening as well. The Mthuthuzeli November work looks interesting going by the photos I've seen on Instagram
  4. Yep, I read a few reviews that said this. I thought that 2 stars seemed a little harsh (not that I pay much attention to mainstream media opinions on the arts anyway!)
  5. Indeed, and I’m interested to see her partnered with Joseph Sissens - don’t think they’ve done much together before. I appreciate that Kevin O’Hare is letting the younger/less experienced dancers take on bigger roles recently, with the Clara debuts and now this. I hope this trend continues as given how big the RB is, it seems to take longer for people to progress up the ranks than in other companies! I’m thrilled about Joseph Sissens doing Siegfried as well.
  6. I’m assuming - or hoping - that Campbell will be doing a lot in the Ashton performances, which might explain it?
  7. Was it really bad? I’ve just watched a brief rehearsal clip on YouTube, it doesn’t look too terrible!
  8. It doesn't look like she has - I'm a bit upset about that as I would have liked to see her in LWFC as well (maybe when it comes back next...)
  9. Who is Paulina/Polixenes? I've never seen the ballet before or read the play. Very much looking forward to it. Just googled all the characters! I would have thought Cesar would be a bit too young for Leontes, but very glad he's back and doing the role.
  10. Thanks. I was also wondering why the Dream is included in both triple bills? I guess it gives more opportunities for a range of casting?
  11. Thanks. I was just concerned the choreography might have changed significantly or something, glad to know that isn’t the case. I’ve purchased a ticket for December, it does feel strange booking so far in advance! But I don’t want to miss it.
  12. Just checking, this is the original/unchanged Matthew Bourne Swan Lake? Because as it says The Next Generation on the website, I’m worried they might have changed something
  13. I’m a bit confused by information on the website - are the Ashton triple bills all being held in the Linbury, or just the Sarasota performances? Because when I filtered by main stage venue Ashton didn’t show up, which was a bit strange
  14. Looks like it, unless someone else is using your account as well. That's quite sexist!
  15. Yep, if it wasn’t on a Sunday I probably would go. Sunday seems to be a cursed day when it comes to transportation.
  16. Thanks for the opinion on this. I’m debating about whether to go as it’s a great opportunity to see more of the particular dancers involved, but I’m finding it difficult to schedule in. And the idea of walking so close to them makes me feel a bit awkward. As you say, this should be something costume designers bear in mind! I’m going to the main stage New Choreography work on Thursday but apart from that don’t have many free evenings, and I can’t justify dragging myself up to Zone 1 from Zone 4 just for one hour.
  17. Certainly would have been nice to see him perform it with Claire. I’m sure Joseph Sissens will be superb, very much looking forward to seeing him with Takada
  18. Thrilling casting, yay! Now the question is, how to get tickets for everyone… 😬
  19. Yep, the teaser trailer on YouTube is awful. Just a couple of seconds of still photographs already on the website and that’s it. Not exactly piquing interest.
  20. I really hope Jane Eyre is touring to London, I’ve never seen it before.
  21. I agree about more variety needed in each season. However, bear in mind that some people haven’t seen either of those two ballets before. Some of us haven’t been alive for the last 50 or so years getting to see all the greats of ballet perform. This year was my first time seeing Manon by the RB, and I do think it’s an absolute work of art that I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing many times (if time/cost allowed).
  22. I noticed there were a lot more available in the previous seasons. This season there’s been a lot less young ROH availability, unless as you said the tickets aren’t selling well and need to be got rid of last minute. I’m guessing a portion of unsold seats are also given for free to charities/students/NHS etc.
  23. I was really tempted to go, I've never been to the Stage Door before. Also doing it for a matinee would be convenient as it isn't too dark yet! After seeing the crowd, I thought there wouldn't be much point though.
