  5. Thank you Jan, I would say that back to you and many in this forum. I have been helped a lot in this time of lockdown by watching ballet that I would not have come across if it had not been for the suggestions and comments of people here. I am very grateful.

  9. Tom and Ty talk have just interviewed Steven McRae. https://pod.co/tom-and-ty-talk
  10. I have just watched Shobana Jeyasingh Dance perform Faultline. A modern and thought provoking performance, excellently done. Also Shobana Jeyasingh is interviewed and there is a short bit at the end where one of the dancers talks about creating the piece, in what I thought was a most intelligent way. All in all brilliant, the only drawback is that it can only be accessed through face book and it's on 'till Saturday.
  11. yes echoed here, thank you it has helped me tremendously in lockdown.
  12. This week's offering is utterly brilliant, I am so very impressed with this company. Cristaux by Arthur Pita, link in the calendar.
  13. Last day of John Cranko's Initials R.B.M.E. I thought it was great, only the second Cranko ballet I have seen and I hope to have time for a second watch. I thought the back drop was just right being interesting with out taking away from the dance. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk9WDFKf3TjXwk1rf1tgfGg
  14. A Midsummer Night's Dream Stunning choreography by George Balanchine and music by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy brings Shakespeare's enchanting comedy to life at the Opéra national de Paris. Wednesday 27th May on Sky Arts from 7:10am to 9:00am
  15. that is what usually happens, and well done it is not simple to do.
  16. If you go to the bit before the James Hay in Conversation Sander is answering questions about himself, which I found interesting.
  17. Shobana Jeyasingh Dance plans to premiere a video on Facebook Created exclusively for our online audience, ‘SJD Shorts’ will present specially chosen excerpts from our rich catalogue, each one personally introduced by Shobana. The first of these will feature Faultline, live on Facebook on Sunday 17 May at 7pm (BST). Guardian dance critic Sanjoy Roy will be quizzing Shobana about this much acclaimed piece, which made it into the top ten dance works in the UK when it was first premiered. “It’s a piece you can watch over and over again, and always see something new” The Guardian “Created in 2007, Faultline was a response to the 2005 London bombings and the spotlight it threw on young Asians. The angst, coolness and swagger that I found in Gautam Malkani's book 'Londonstani' was a source of inspiration." Shobana Jeyasingh
  18. I think Ratmansky's Concerto DSCH has been my favourite NYCB so far. Like Bruce I loved MacMillian's Concerto, which i have only seen once and in many ways I prefer M's tempo, but this R's was a such a pleasure to watch (3 times).
  19. My husband, not a ballet fan, watched it with me and thought it was a good programme. I imagine it's more for non ballet rather than ballet people and to me that's good and will hopefully encourage people to give ballet a go. Though I enjoyed it too.
  20. Coppelia Ballet. A stunning performance of the family-friendly ballet, Coppelia, that tells the story of two young lovers exploring a magically mysterious workshop filled with mechanical dolls. Ako Kondo and Andrew Killian perform in the leading roles. (Australian Ballet I assume?) Sunday 17th May on Sky Arts from 10:00am to 12:00pm
  21. I was looking forward to Bright Stream as I hadn't seen it the last time the Bolshoi were in London and it was well reviewed here. I was not disappointed I found it fun and light, just what I needed today. (by contrast not the way Stalin reacted to this ballet). It is the second Alexei Ratmansky ballet I have seen, the first being Cinderella and something about it reminded me of it. Also having the programme from the Bolshoi visit I am able to read their articles on the ballet, All round feeling good.
  22. REPEAT Giselle A peasant girl falls in love with a count, who leads her to believe that he is an ordinary villager, but her discovery of his true identity has devastating consequences.
