  1. first circle , row H £65 or nearest offer. please message me.
  2. I checked Sky Arts and it says it is from the National Theatre, so sadly I imagine not ballet.
  3. Just back from Saturday evenings performance. Emma Hawes was so convincing as Giselle, I ached for her broken heart. Vsevolod Maievskyi was completely new to me, somehow I was reminded of Vadim Muntagirov. Did anyone else think this or could explain why? Precious Adams and her entourage were suitably frightening. All in all my friend and I thought it was wonderful.
  4. I have just finished watching the Magic of Dance and it is indeed Magic. Hoping the BBC can unearth more like this.
  5. I am watching 'An Introduction to Free Your Mind:The Matrix Now', where Danny Boyle is talking about watching dance rehearsals for weeks. "It starts with continuous counting and then it's as if 'the numbers disappear into the body'. " That is such a beautiful description of dance.
  6. CBeeBies has seven ballets for children on iplayer, they are performed by Northern Ballet. They also perform them at the Linbury. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=ballet
  7. Thank you for that interesting review. I hope I get to see it.
  8. Thank you for the pictures @Dawnstar, I took some of the family last night and they loved it much more than I expected. My granddaughter had performed an adapted version of the Spanish Dance and it was fun to compare it.
  9. I thought Raise the Red Lantern looked interesting.
  10. I couldn’t find anything beyond Jan either, so I hope they a doing a performance when I visit.
  11. Thank you, the little I have seen of them has seemed good, glad to have that confirmed.
  12. I have the opportunity to go to China in September and, obviously, top of my list is to see the NBC. Has anyone seen them and if so are there dancers or anything you would recommend or avoid? thank you
  13. Thank you @Jane S, I will have a look and see if I can find it elsewhere. Edit: it seems to be available at BFI Southbank, I will investigate further.
  14. This is a great programme. It seemed that this was part 1 of a two part documentary and I wondered if anyone has any information on the second part?
  15. I have seen two Alvin Ailey performances. The first last night (8th) was ‘21st Century Creations’. First was ‘For Four’ choreographed by Robert Battle expressing the energy let out after lockdown. It was gloriously and intricately danced to Jazz Music by Wynton Marsalis. In A Sentimental Mood by Jamar Roberts was very moving. Particularly the female solo to ‘The first time ever I saw your face’ and the male solo that was in his own circle of light. Dancing Spirit was a replacement and we were a little sad at that until we saw it. One of my party was so enthusiastic about it they were still talking about the movement and choreography today. It was a joyful and powerful end to the show. Today we did the opposite and saw ‘Ailey Classics’. Standouts for me were the Falls part of River with the four men dancing, but it had many exciting, funny and profound parts. Cry was very powerful, it is about AA ‘s mother. The hairs on my arms stood up in Wade in the River from Revelation. it has been a brilliant weekend
  16. I watched Woolf Works when it was first staged in 2015, it was such an incredible performance I thought I would never want to see it again as it could never be as good. I was wrong, just back from the matinee and it was breathtakingly good.
  17. thank you, and here's hoping they show at least one of them in honour of her life.
  18. Many years ago I saw a documentary about Lynn Seymour and I was 'blown away'. Did anyone else see it or know what it was called? I would love to watch it again.
  19. I am just back from seeing Anna-Rose O'Sullivan and Steven McRae. Anna was a treat to watch, so clean and precise in her dancing and she is a joyful character. Steven is a dancer I have always enjoyed and Annette Buvioli was an excellent Lilac Fairy, she conveyed a strong goodness. All in all a great evening.
  20. I do mean Friday 16th, thank you Sim for pointing that out. Is it possible for you to change it or shall I re enter it?

  22. I feel that most people here have a strong preference for classical ballet, and nothing wrong with that. While I love the classics I also love modern and contemporary ballet. In Chocolate I felt many emotions, ie love, anguish, passion, hate, fear, power etc. I wondered how the last act would play out after the heightened emotions of the previous two and I was not disappointed. It shows a mature yet still passionate love. back to see the main cast next week, can’t wait .
