  1. You would have to look at fromtheboxoffice T&C. My understanding is that, booking through a third party, you would have recourse to that third party in the event of performance cancellation, not the Coliseum or ENB.
  2. Bruce you may find that the expiry date has been extended due to the ongoing pandemic. I was able to recently use my voucher which had an original expiry date now long gone.
  3. After a few days suspension due to omicron, as of December 23rd, this production is up and running again at Sadlers Wells. It was a delight to unexpectedly watch something so bright and cheerful on a dark, dreary, dull, pre-Christmas evening. The exuberance, energy & enthusiasm of the cast at being back on stage doing what they love reached from the orchestra pit to the back row of the upper circle. I understand that, in the past few days, principals have been rehearsed into corps roles to provide cover so that the show could go (back) on. Well done Sir Matthew Bourne (& everyone else) for not giving up.
  4. Why? Is Claire Calvert ambidextrous? 😉 Seriously though, let’s cut the ROH some slack at this heartbreaking time. Like any organisation these days, I’d suggest that standard reminder emails are programmed to go out and have done re upcoming Nuts because it wasn’t possible to stop them, whereas the cancellation announcement was swift action taken at very short notice and emails were sent asap. It will take time for ‘the machine’ to catch up. Another example of this I can think of is that I’m still getting regular reminders both by text and email to book my booster even though I had it a month ago and my Covid pass was almost immediately updated. Also on the subject of refunds, credit notes etc, these were processed as rapidly as possible in the first lockdown and I’m sure that will be the case again this time. If one thing is certain at the moment, it is how uncertain the world we live in is. With Nut cancelled this afternoon, less than 2 hours ago, over the phone to the box office, I booked to see Spring Awakening at 14.30. I arrived at the Almeida at 14.15 to find that the performance is cancelled due to a positive Covid at the theatre. That’s how quickly things can change.
  5. Erina Takahashi posted on social media how grateful she was that Joe Caley had recovered swiftly enough from Covid to dance with her after his having to withdraw from opening night. Joe Caley also posted.
  6. Am gutted for artists, musicians, back stage, front of house, management, audiences and, last but not least me. All that hard work and hope gone to waste. So grateful to have seen several R&Js, Giselles & Nutcrackers since the start of the season and, encouraged by others. even to have stepped out of my comfort zone this past week to experience Nabucco & Tosca. Thank you thank you thank you. Dear Santa Can you organise for the 2021 Nutcracker to be streamed now that live performances have been suspended… 🎄🙏🏻
  7. its like having our very own Nutcracker Advent Calendar, not knowing who will be behind each day’s door ready and able to dance. Such fun
  8. There were security staff checking covid passes before bag check and ticket check so it didn’t add any extra waiting time. To be honest if more patrons thought in advance to have their Covid pass and tickets to show on arrival the queues would move twice as quickly. Insider tip is that though there is a queue each way along the pavement, the shortest queue is neither of these but the one in the middle to enter through the middle doors. I had no bag with me and was through into the lobby in less than 3 minutes 😉
  9. I’m sorry but I find it highly insulting if not simply offensive to both parties and the ENB itself to suggest that the Artistic Director of one of the UK’s leading ballet companies has cast a dancer on the basis that she shares a bed with him.
  10. The curtain call for last night’s opening night at the Coliseum was relaxed and well deserved. A sumptuous production beautifully danced by everyone onstage adult or child. It was a joyous evening. A perfect antidote to the woes of the world. The relief, both on and offstage, that something worked so hard for, by so many, for so long, had been achieved was palpable. Erina Takahashi shone delicately as Clara/Sugarplum whilst Francesco Gabriele Frola and Aitor Arrieta excelled as Nephew/Nutcracker/Sugarprince. ps I forgot to mention the orchestra conducted sensitively by Alexander Ingram and the icing on the cake, there was a live choir too.
  11. I’m sure he’d acquit himself well if he had to… So far this Nutcracker run I’ve seen Leo dance: - The Nutcracker; he stepped in to replace Valentino Zucchetti as partner to Meagan Grace Hinkis several times & now Ashley Dean when in fact his official debut in the role wasn’t due until 21 December! with Romany Pajdak as Clara. - Clara’s partner - Chinese dance - Russian Dance - Spanish Dance - Rose Fairy Escort a full, if not punishing, schedule, and I hope he does make it to 21 December and beyond to dance with Romany. He must be high on the promotions list too.
  12. i'm looking for an SCS ticket for the Nutcracker 1.30pm matinee this coming Saturday 18/12 (currently Naghdi/Ball). many thanks Peter
  13. i have a central SCS ticket for tomorrow evening to re-home. Face value £10. Advertised cast is Hayward/Campbell/Gartside/Dean/Ella PM me and leave a message asap please
  14. thank you for your seasonal detective work. 🙏🏻🌲 it appears to me that SkyArts assumes that ballet lovers are also incurable insomniacs with such early and late timings. such a shame as I still enjoy my 8 hours sleep 🛌
  15. They floated on air like two pink clouds of candy floss. Seamless, it was difficult to know where one ended and the other began.
  16. RB might probably be playing rock/paper/scissors to decide who goes on instead.... 😉 that's what makes Nutcracker season interesting, the uncertainty of who will actually dance on the day/night.... it also tends to throw up some 'scratch' pairings which one might never have got to see otherwise. we've already had Reece (Clarke) & Fumi (Kaneko).
  17. in the small print: Please present your booking confirmation at the box office on arrival. These seats are restricted view: Dancers’ feet may be obscured. Tickets are allocated by the box office/organisers and not by Time Out - Customers purchasing multiple tickets in the same transaction under the same name will be sat together.
  18. Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker has it's first night tonight at Sadlers Wells, a few tickets at all prices seem to be available still
  19. today is only Wednesday 8th. i think that the next scheduled Nutcracker is Thursday 9th, although now i'm starting to doubt myself.....
  20. Can I also say how great it was to see Téo Debreuil back fully (?) dancing again. Up to now, he’s been onstage as the Captain and gently doing the group dances in Act 1. Last night he went full throttle into the Spanish dance. 💃🏻 🕺🏻
  21. FionaE for some reason, you seem to keep wanting to make this all about Polunin and as such you’re missing the point of my criticism. I have always enjoyed him as a dancer. He isn’t what he was when I used to watch him at ROH, but then neither am I. My criticisms of Wednesday are levelled at the quality of the production and whether what we we given was worthy of the ticket price. Dancers can only be as good as the staging they are given and in this instance the barely 80 minute production did little to showcase many of their talents. What a missed opportunity. That is not the dancers fault. You yourself in your comparison to Verona have acknowledged that the RAH staging was far from perfect. For anyone who hasn’t read my earlier posts . I haven’t expressed any negative views of any of the dancing. In my original post I said that Polunin threw some great shapes. You picked up on the fact that the stage was dominated by the scenery leaving little room for Polunin to ‘fly’ and thus danced with clipped wings. After 2 years in the planning to bring this production from Verona to London, I maintain that the dancers and the ticket-buying public deserved better than we were given.
  22. all these things could, and ought to, have been considered and addressed before the ‘curtain’ went up. had they been the extortionate ticket prices might have been justified. however, they weren’t which, to me, suggests disinterest in the audience experience. my ticket cost £164.75. a premium ticket price which is only justifiable if a premium product is delivered. sadly this wasn’t the case on Wednesday evening and I left feeling that I had been ripped off. I suspect I wasn’t the only person who felt as such as there was no buzz or excitement as the audience around me left. instead people filed out quietly and dispersed quickly into the night.
