Royal Ballet's Swan Lake (Spring 2022)
San Perregrino replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
After such a long wait, it will be terrific to see the company general rehearsal (with Magri/Corrales being a bonus) tomorrow even bearing in mind that it is not a performance and may or may not flow freely. Any work in rehearsal is still a work in progress following which there may well be notes and changes afterwards which will inform the upcoming public performances for which the company is preparing. I also have tickets for Magri/Corrales first night too. I have no doubt that the performance will have evolved from one date to the other as it does every time a dancer takes to the stage. On a more general note, being able to attend rehearsals and have a preview of the action so to speak , is, for me, one of the main benefits of being a Friend and makes the subscription more than worth the outlay.- 1,276 replies

Last night’s BRB Don Quixote (Hirata/Dingman/Lawrence/Kurihara) was being filmed for future broadcast. I chatted to one of the cameramen who, it turns out, regularly films these kind of productions (ROH, NT etc). He couldn’t confirm where or when it might appear. It could be streamed directly by BRB or broadcast by SkyArts or the BBC. it was a delightfully sunny and joyous performance, improved and finessed immeasurably in so many subtle ways since I saw it in Southampton.

Scènes de ballet

I don’t know Rhapsody but I feel safe booking tickets for any cast knowing that RB dancers aren’t cast in roles they can’t rise to the challenge of and in preparation for which they receive the coaching in both steps and style necessary to the piece from those that have danced the roles ahead of them. one of the most memorable things I took from the Ashton Insight was, I think, Wayne Eagling saying that all Ashton breathes and evolves with each generation of dancers and that there is space for individual interpretation. if I thought each of the three casts I have booked would be identical, there would be no point in wanting to see all three.- 50 replies

Per his Instagram he recently got engaged. Perhaps that has something to do with his decision making.
