  1. Does anyone's child do this? My DD has decided she is very serious about her ballet training and is already a RBS JA but has heard about the Cecchetti scheme. It's only about half hour drive from us in the North. Will it compliment her RB training or confuse her? I have no idea about the different styles of training so don't know if it will be a help or hindrence to her. It seems good that she also gets to do a second dance subject too, and it's only once a month.
  2. Just booked DD on to the Leeds Junior class. She won't be 10.....a couple of months off. Emailed them and said absolutely fine for her to go She is excited already as she loved the audition class she experienced.
  3. I emailed and got asked which dance school DD attends. Replied but not heard anything back about auditions either?!
  4. My daughter wore her normal lesson leotard, a pair of socks we bought off eBay, and pink shiny satin shoes! She got in.......although I do now prefer leather shoes;)
  5. This sounds interesting? I will email for details as we are away the week of the late May half term Does any one else have experience of RYB? I've tried looking for a website but can't find anything?! If the audition is this weekend I need to know as she has her Royal lesson tomorrow morning too!
  6. My daughters RBS JA teacher has given me a phone call report in her first term. Gave pointers for improvement and that she needed to not talk when waiting in the corners!!! Then Sylvia Hubbard did a visit and the following week we got an email confirming she was progressing to Year 5, so I'm guessing they did the assessment when she was there but my daughter (and me) had no idea that's what her visit coukd have been for?
  7. My daughter is a JA and she doesn't have very well developed arches. However she does have a long kneck and legs and very slim. She does also have very strong legs and can balance for ages in her rises. Go for it. They are looking for potential. DD has weekly metatarsal exercises from RB and you can see her feet changing.
  8. My daughter is a RBS JA. In lessons they have to wear full sole....works the foot more her teacher said at her first lesson. I would go to audition wearing that too
  9. Oooh we are going to Brittany next year on our holiday. Mentioned it to my DD and she said she might not understand as she doesn't speak very much French!
  10. A no for us for the scholarship. As expected as she is only just 9 years old, and there were so many people. We didn't apply for a place without this tear as couldn't afford. She will be sad but said she learnt some new exercises so that's all good
  11. Oooh just read on FB that they are emailing results out tomorrow Good luck to all those who applied. The Leeds audition on Sunday was busy!!!!!
  12. Just booked this to take DDs younger sister to her first ballet Tickets looked to be selling quite well too, so glad I saw this post
  13. I'm guessing it will be after the Leeds scholarship audition which has been postponed til April 15th because of the snow?
  14. Yes we have just got an email with the new date, asking us to confirm attendance.
  15. Thanks everyone! She is going in to it with the same approach as her RB JA audition......a day out in Leeds with Mummy......she just wants to go to Hotel Chocolat for a hot chocolate afterwards!!!
  16. Forgot to add she is grade 3 ISTD as I know there are more grades with RAD.....if that makes any difference?! So lost in this world of ballet!!!!
  17. I have just been reading the admissions standards and it's says at least grade 4 for students 9-12years. Mmmmm no point in my grade 3 9 year old trying then Ooopsy she will be sad, but that's what happens when she's only been dancing two years!
  18. I've only done the scholarship form as she's only going this time if she gets one. I haven't done the other and haven't been asked for it?
  19. I'm guessing we just turn up at the time for our DD age group that it says on their website? I got an email confirmation to say application had been received.
  20. If I have read it right......if you only want to go of you get a scholarship then you just do that form. But......if you want to be considered a place if you don't get a scholarship you need to fill in that form with the photos. I think that's right from what it says?!
  21. And so DD has now decided that she wants to have a go at YBSS.....last week of term won't hurt missing. I told she would have to go residential.....i think her JA trip to Covent Garden has inspired her!!! I also told her she was only going if she got a scholarship as I had already paid for another summer school!! Tough Mummy love! I think she secretly wants to have a nosey around Northern Ballet too!
  22. This is the one we have booked on to after ruling out YBSS on dates that didn't work and NYB as she doesn't want to be so far from home. Michael Berkin did a masterclass at my DDs dance school and she loved it and parents got to watch her what they had learnt over the hour and half....very impressed. So away we go there Also means she can see if she likes summer schools, and then she can go ahead and have a go at the audition required ones next year.
  23. My daughter had only been dancing for two years with a one hour lesson per week. She got a place as a Year 4 JA Go for it! The audition is very straightforward. Like a normal ballet class and a bit of miming.
  24. Well can't do second week either as I've just realised that we are going away with my sister and her family on the Thursday May be next year then!
