  1. Normally RBS and Elmhurst have audtion prep type days. My Dd went to Elmhursts audition insight day at the end of Sept and booking opened in August for it (it booked up quick though!). It was worth going to that as she got a tour of the school and took part in an audition style lesson which we got to watch (you can then see the standard). As soon as she got in to the car she wrote down the exercises and stretches she did and practiced, and then found that her first round and final were practically the same as that!! RBS do an audition insight in October but we didnt bother with that being a JA. She says that auditions at both were very similar. Always be prepared for a bit of improv as the final task too. My dd has never had a private lesson in her life.....but she follows plenty on Instagram who do and were having almost daily ones leading up to finals!! Just be prepared for the competition. I hate audition days!!!
  2. Very different! Yes in Leeds they didnt need them until after Christmas!! And I'm sure she didnt wear it until after WL audition in Jan.
  3. Dont rush with the skirt. In Yr 6 they wont be doing any character until they have done all the auditions. Up until March it is literally audition class prep!!
  4. I would imagine you might hear soon! We have contacted NB to say my daughter will not be continuing onto Level 2 as going to Elmhurst, along with another student on the CAT. Plus Miss Yoko has been in watching the zoom lessons for the last couple of weeks.
  5. We had to accept my DDs place at local.grammar school at the beginning of March, despite her getting to WL and Elmhurst finals after that date. I then handed back her place at the school in May after we were sure we could afford to send her to Elmhurst. Yes that true. DD could have done Elmhurst after Christmas but did it in December.to get one out of the way. I dont think it will change much either.
  6. Well done to everyone!! SWL is also great.....my DD got SWL in year 4.....3 days later we got a phonecall giving her a place. She got to WL finals and has a place at Elmhurst full time. I will keep my fingers crossed!
  7. Have to say I am glad DD has come to the end of her JA journey. We were not impressed at all by the lessons she was sent, and still wanted 50% fees. If she had another year and it was by Zoom I dont think she would be doing them!!
  8. Yes I saw there was no mention of cost. No surprise there. Still waiting on my JA refund for missed classes. Was told this week, but now next week! They have been sorting these refunds since April!
  9. Same here!!! I am hoping that Iain Mackay is still going to do the YBSS online classes he mentioned in the e.ail when he cancelled, as I would much rather give money to them than RBS!
  10. YBS is cancelled. My dd was going as non residential but the school they were using isn't opening
  11. I have sent them an email this morning about these lessons. She doesnt do them......they are boring she says. In the meantime David Nixon says I dont need to make any payments for her CAT lessons. I will see what they say? But her RBS teacher can have a Zoom catch up with them......why not teach a lesson?
  12. I saw this post and started panicking!!!! My dd starts Elmhurst in September and with a furloughed husband I cant justify paying full fees when she might be learning virtually. I'm hoping for the fact that theres only 200 students means they get to go back!
  13. Year 5 upwards.....most of the students that do them are JAs or at Elmhurst or RBS.
  14. My Dd did her first one today with Natalia Osipova and she loved it! She was a really good teacher and took time to explain the exercises. Looking forward to next week.
  15. That's what they basically said at my DDs WL final too. You have to fit in with the school image. We have done JAs for the 3 years, and I have to say that I am glad she is off to Elmhurst!
  16. The year 6 JA classes have been just as poor. My dd hates doing them, and if it wasnt for the fact that I am still expected to pay 50% fees for them, she wouldn't be bothering. Still also waiting for the refund from missed classes too. If this weeks lesson is just as uninspiring then I will be sending an email too. On the other hand her local dance school is going above and beyond, and every class is a Zoom class with personal corrections still. I am so disappointed in RBS, but not in any way surprised tbh.
  17. We just got the home practice ballet mat.
  18. I have got mine from Dance and Stage and DD loves how she feels more secure on it.....and not about to go ice skating on the laminate. But I think we need some underlay under.it.to make it.more.....springy? Any ideas? Will thick carpet underlay suffice?
  19. We live in a 3 storey town house and thankfully have a utility room / playroom on the very bottom floor. She does have to try and do the zoom.lessons with the washing machine on in the background!!! Portable barre and mirrors from IKEA which she bought last year with her bday money. Just waiting for flooring to arrive as the laminate is a bit slippy
  20. I'm just about to order one from Dance and Stage 1.5x2 for my dd. Is it good quality?
  21. Thanks!!!! Juat trying to work out an approximate figure 🙂
  22. Fab thanks! Do I also take £2k off for.my dd? So minus £4k in total for her and her sister?
  23. When working out how much to pay I know that MDS calculations take into account number.of dependents. I know from CAT scheme.that we deducted approx £2k per dependent from.our gross income. On the Elmhurst calculator it doesnt have this on there. Any ideas how much you deduct?
  24. Cara O Shea of Norrhern Ballet is doing live classes on Insta. First one today at 10am.
  25. Yes she has!!!! She did not sleep though last night as she was nervous for results!! She then went straight put to play........on her roller skates!!!! Eem nope....no broken ankles!!
