  1. Yes she is.....she was going to be a day student but we can't make that work as we only have one car now. So changed her place to residential
  2. Thanks!!! I was sure I had read somewhere that they were carrying then over. I know YBS has, as dd has her place from last year for this year.
  3. I was under the impression that if they had a place offered from last year when it couldn't happen, then they had a place this year. Plus some kids who attended the online ones have also been given direct entry....so don't have to apply.
  4. Ah fab! I couldn't find anything.....always a bit useless trying to find things!
  5. Any idea when we might hear about Summer intensive results? We put in a last minute application but not holding out much hope as we know a lot of places will have gone to those who should have attended last year.....we didn't apply last year though.
  6. Please could we have the degas age 14? How does the age 12 grishko compare too?
  7. And those little hand warmer things you can get......pop them inside their warm up boots if they have them.....feet nice and warm ready for class then. My dd always gets cramp if her feet aren't warm!!!
  8. Wear socks......they like to see their legs (and they wear socks in yr 7). Simple ribbon in hair....none of these huge fancy ones. And waist belt too if have one 😉
  9. Is that book really worth that much!? We have a copy of it at home....found in a charity shop for my daughter!!!
  10. Just been listening to Ms Ward explaining how auditions are running with our kids back. All planned very well I have to say. Keeping everyone separate and using a different entrance I believe. Good luck! Dd cannot wait to arrive back next week!!!
  11. Some girls had to have another physio check......some were taken back in to a ballet class and taught exercises to then repeat. 2 of my dd ja friends got called back.....one got a no.....the other got waiting list and then a place from that
  12. My dd said she doesn't know anyone who does that.....she was offered MA too but we turned it down. They are shattered by the time it gets to the weekend, and they do have RAD classes which start after Christmas in Year 7.
  13. So my dd when she was Yr 6 it was Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm til 7.30pm, and then Saturday from 12.30pm til 4pm with some sessions til 6pm. Then most school holidays expect a day or two there aswell which they are expected to attend including the 2 week summer school before they start
  14. Hi......my dd did CAT when she was Yr 6 (now at Elmhurst). She really enjoyed it and got a lot from it....it made her physically stronger ready for auditions. Just be prepared for spending a lot of time in Leeds!!! We just couldn't sustain it as a family so applied for vocational school.
  15. So for Elmhurst finals you don't to have had a test? Are they doing them on arrival at school? Interesting when the school will be full again by then.
  16. Last year when my dd was at finals there was about 70 at rbs and 60 at Elmhurst....she says. Hard to judge as we basically had to leave them for the Elmhurst one.....not allowed in building as covid was on its way. But dd was number 20 something in the first group at rbs finals, and there were 3 groups
  17. Dd has just said that they have an assessed lesson every 3 weeks and they know it is. They then get feedback in their tutorial lessons. She says she likes that as they get told what they are improving on and what they need to work on. Formal assessments and reports are sent home end of every term.
  18. Elmhurst do seem to assess quite frequently. Dd gets an assessment showing where she is at, and her end of term report was quite detailed. They always say that they will have conversations with you if there are any concerns re progress. But dd is only yr 7 so that's all we know so far.
  19. Last year there was about 75 girls there.....for 14 places! Elmhurst is slightly different in that they don't have a set number for boys and girls.....they take who they like, and thre might not be an even split. This year its nearly equal, but there are some older years with very few boys.
  20. She is ours too!!! The fee calculator on Elmhurst is quite accurate. You just need to know about these extras. Normally they would have also had theatre trips and weekend trips so that has saved a bit. I also send her with pocket money as when they go to the.park they like to get an ice cream.or hot chocolate.......but I send her with a box full of tuck to keep her going! Have to say our weekly shopping bill has increased since she arrived back home!!!!
  21. The only thing the uniform bursary doesn't cover is formal uniform......we bought ours second hand and glad we did.....she has worn it once 🤣
  22. It applies to each person awarded MDS But those not awarded get no uniform bursary, have to pay for music lessons, have to pay for health insurance and RAD lessons. It made it much easier for us to afford to send her. On top of that we pay a small amount for accident insurance £5 and the fee protection scheme of you sign up is £40 a term. There is also a £30 termly house fees which goes towards supper time snacks and treats and prizes for weekend tasks and afternoon teas......when they are at school. We have spent all of the uniform bursary thus year......but won't have uniform to buy for yr 8.....but will have pointe shoes to buy instead!
  23. I definitely learnt so much this time last year......even down to which hotel was best tonstay in for WL finals 🤣
  24. Also check out what you get as part of your MDS package if you get awarded it. DD at Elmhurst gets a music lesson each week, weekly RAD lessons, £625 uniform bursary and health insurance included........I don't think RBS is the same. DD gets away with wearing navy jogging pants from M&S......don't think its quite like that at RBS! 🤣 DD got yes to finals to both Elmhurst and RBS (only 2 we applied for). Got no for RBS and wait list for MAs, and then a yes for Elmhurst.
