The Dante Project at the Paris Opera Ballet
PatC replied to San Perregrino's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
So this is interesting!! Mukhamedov… I’m seeing the Bejart bill followed by Dante. If the POB interpretation is as good as the Mayerlings I saw last year with Paul Marque and Hugo Marchand then it should be a treat!- 35 replies

Inevitable once Anastasia was announced - the last sight will be her on a bed aimlessly moving around the stage - yes it’s a great dramatic role but it’s a shame she could not have a more pleasing ‘end of a career vision.’

Royal Ballet: A Diamond Celebration
PatC replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Six decades Six pieces representing each decade showing segments of works supported by The Friends Would seem to me a more representative celebration… -
Loved her dancing - I started out ballet watching with London Festival Ballet so I saw many of her performances. So many from that era now gone but it was a glorious company that included Elisabetta Terabust, Eva Evdokimova, Paul Clarke, Maina Gielgud. Very happy memories. Condolences to her family and all who worked or knew her
-
Having had a REALLY close look at next season I realise - forgive me if others had already mentioned this - that the season ends with a ballerina on a bed rotating round the stage. Is Anastasia act 3 the most bizarre and depressing ending to a season ever? Do we remember the uplifting endings of previous seasons with ballets such as Symphony in C etc…..

I’m sad that there is nothing from their back catalogue at all. LFB / ENB we’re my first ballet going company and I look back at the works and casts from that time with huge nostalgia.

It’s on at Queen Elizabeth hall May 27th & 28th. Cheap tickets seem to have gone already.
-
It’s a perfect meal - tasty tempting starter / delicious main course / gorgeous sweet dessert. I just cannot understand why there are tickets still available!

I think we should also take into consideration the dancers. With long runs of classics the corp may be stretched at times - covid has not disappeared and next autumn / winter may be a problem again with infections. Keeping the main body of the dancers happy in repetitive performances could be a challenge. Yes, there may be interesting debuts ahead, but even the principals can surely only have a couple of performances of each role ahead of them with large gaps in their schedules - as per this season.
-
I’d be very happy to see Corrales in this 👍🏻
-
I’ve checked the whole ROH calendar - this is it then. The season of full length works to fill the coffers and the slow demise of varied triple bills. Very disappointed indeed - although happy to see Mayerling and Cinderella back

Royal Ballet's Swan Lake (Spring 2022)

My first thought during her solo at the Ukrainian gala when she stamped her foot down! I said to myself then ‘don’t mess that foot up!’- 1,276 replies

Royal Ballet's Swan Lake (Spring 2022)
PatC replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I was at the general rehearsal yesterday. from my point of view all the issues I had at the premiere are still there. More on that once I’ve seen a couple of performances… However, the finale is frankly awful and a real anti climax - needs to be changed but I doubt that will happen. On a better note - act 3 pdd was very well danced!- 1,276 replies

And sadly I was another interval leaver. I was very disappointed with this - is it the subject matter I wonder as no production seems to succeed. I found it all too repetitive - both musically and choreographically. I left feeling nostalgic for some of the ENB back catalogue that seems to have been discarded.

I so wanted to love this ballet. However it is too long and too busy - as most of us have stated. More thoughts after seeing the second cast I think
