And being a member of a tiny audience in a big venue holds no attraction for me either. Besides which, how can dancers perform (or rehearse) and social distance?

What are you actually talking about?! I haven't analysed what's been offered by the ROH so I've no idea what is 'going on'.

Not sure how plans for the season can be announced when no-one yet knows how long the season will be or when it will start.

Yes, I've thought about that too, Richard LH! (I've even half hoped that we might have the same scenario again, to honour the SWB/RB's history at the same time as celebrating its present and future.) -

To be honest, my main fear is that the RB may not survive in its current form. Large-scale indoor venues are likely to be at the bottom of the list in terms of re-opening, and I don't how long the ROH could continue with no performances and no audiences (and so very little income), and how long the RB (and its dancers NB) in anything like its current form could continue with no performances. My Friends renewal is due in October so by then there will have been 7 months with no performances, but frankly if the RB was starting up again at the ROH then I would be so surprised and happy that I would have no hesitation about renewing (whether or not I was able to attend performances myself). -

Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus
bridiem replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Thanks very much, capybara - I've done the same now. -
I know what you mean, Darlex. Personally I seem to spend most of my time at the moment on my laptop, 'engaging' in one way or another with other people or organisations (far more than I normally do in fact!! Even if all online rather than in person). So it's quite a relief when I just watch a TV programme or read a book. There's a bit of an online frenzy at the moment which has negatives as well as positives.

I wonder if it would have been possible to deal with the same order number in 2 separate submissions, entering 1 ticket as a donation and then doing again for 1 ticket under the same order number as a credit? It doesn't actually say that you have to include all the tickets on an order number in one submission. Just a thought, in case anyone else has the same issue. I hope you can get a refund from the hotel, jmhopton. And yes, it will be wonderful to look forward to the resumption of performances in due course; I think I will appreciate them even more now than I have in the past.

I see what you mean! I think it is NBC saying its tour to London is cancelled and I had assumed the reference to SFB was a visit SFB was doing @ NBC (though maybe not). (And yes, I realise that the NBC cancellation had already been noted on another thread.)
-
Yes, it is. But relevant to performances at the ROH later in the year which is I assume why Bruce posted it here.

Yes, they were doing Sleeping Beauty at the ROH in July.

Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus

As far as I know there's been no further announcement from the ROH, but I assume one must be imminent. -
Well said Lisa. Shocking.

So funny!! I may now start moving around my flat in a series of grand jetés and bourrées with appropriate épaulement and perfectly pointed feet. And perhaps choose a different role for each room? Maybe Ondine in the bathroom (already has a watery theme); Cinderella in the kitchen (though sadly no fireplace); Tatiana in the sitting room (lots of books); Juliet, Mary Vetsera or Manon in the bedroom (no comment); Myrthe in the hall (can only move in a straight line, though I may have to move a bookcase first). More seriously: when I think of what's happening outside right now - any Wayne McGregor role; when I think of those who have died - the Pie Jesu solo in MacMillan's Requiem; when I hope for the future - a role in Mark Morris' L'Allegro, il penseroso ed il moderato, the most profound expression of harmony, humanity and community.
