  1. The Nutcracker casting is still coming up as TBC on the website, ditto for Sleeping Beauty - is there some other source that can be shared?
  2. Where do they get this stuff from? I had the opportunity to ask Vadim after the Winter's Tale on Saturday why they weren't dancing in Frankenstein, and he said that they simply hadn't had enough rehearsal time. I fully believed him - there is no hint of subterfuge with Vadim.
  3. I saw it last night. I had previously seen it on TV a couple of years ago at Christmas, and enjoyed it more than I thought I would, so I was looking forward to seeing it live. Nunez and Gartside were so moving - I agree with Capybara that Gartside really made you feel for Leontes. What really choked me up was at the end where he went to the status of his son in the hope that he may have been alive too..... I adored Act 2! Like RobR I found it exhilarating to watch - the combination of the set, the colours, the lighting, and of course wonderful joyous dancing from all concerned, all contributed. I suppose the role of Florizel could be said to be a slighter one that that of Albrecht - but as ever Muntagirov didn't disappoint. He always dances anyway as though it is his reason for living, so the joyful choreography (which really suited him, I thought) played to his strengths perfectly. I know it was created on McRae, but Vadim showed that you can be tall and fleet footed as well. And as usual his characterisation was just beautiful and spot on. Stix-Brunell was a lovely Perdita and was a good match for Vadim. I'd like to see them dance together more. Itziar Medizabal was impressive as Paulina (more so than Myrthe, I thought), dignified, wise and compassionate. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
  4. Emailed the ROH to ask (again) when casting for The Invitation would be announced and was informed that casting has now been confirmed and will appear on the website Wednesday or Thursday next week.
  5. I found myself once at the ROH sitting next to a man wearing the most peculiar aftershave. A very old-fashioned scent that smelt like something my gran would have worn, but with top notes of tom cat :/ . Then a lady on my other side started sucking cherry menthol cough sweets. The mingling smells of each was - not good. Cue shallow breathing on my part for the rest of the performance.
  6. I'm in. Round would be my preference but happy to go with the majority!
  7. Gosh - is there something in the air at the moment??
  8. There may be two DVDs already, but this is the one that people are asking for - in large numbers. And I see no reason in that case not to push for one at least - don't ask, don't get, and it won't hurt to try. I for one have followed your example, Capybara, and penned a letter. It may get filed in the bin, but at least it will be seen. Oh, and ToThePointe - lovely review! You encapsulated all that I wanted to express but wasn't eloquent enough.
  9. Such sloppy journalism - there is far too much of this these days. If you are going to write an article about someone, at least make sure it's the person you think it is!!
  10. Yes! He has such an expressive face which seems to find the right expression for all circumstances. One of the reasons I find him so incredibly moving to watch - and he and Nunez together were just unbearably so.
  11. Went to see it again here in Plymouth. Once the talkers had settled down (after a glare from me - honestly, chatting away through the introductory video!), you could hear a pin drop in Act 2. Audible gasps, though, when Vadim did those amazing entrechats! Hugely appreciative comments heard afterwards. Wonderful to see it again, but that was truly a performance I could watch over and over (and I guess we're back to lack of a DVD.....).
  12. They were certainly recording on the 31st so they should have alternative footage.
  13. Well, I'm continuing the argument with them online. Their latest reasoning is that "The time it takes to arrange a DVD release ahead of a performance is significant - to decide, after a broadcast, to release a DVD is an equally long process." My recollection is that they had not planned an Osipova/Golding DVD of Swan Lake, but quickly decided to release it due to "demand" - so what's the problem with this one given that demand is so high?
  14. Whatever happened to listening to their customers? I think I have rarely seen such demand for something. Ridiculous! They were talking about streaming content, though, so perhaps it may happen that way....
  15. And take it from me - as a Taekwondo practitioner myself - if he does something like Taekwondo (or any martial art) - or trampolining, or whatever - you will just end up being a Taekwondo mum, or a trampolining mum instead! Competitions, gradings, sewing on badges etc.... At the end of the day, there's very little difference!
  16. I think that's a great idea, SPD444, but possibly not everyone would be comfortable with identifying themselves? For those who are, it would be lovely to say hello. I've talked to a number of people, often at the stage door, who could well be forum members but I have no way of telling. Like you, I'm a northerner by birth and am happy to chat to everyone!
  17. I echo everything said above! And I have now started to meet some lovely people, "regulars" at the ROH; some forum members (you know who you are!), which would probably not have happened without this. So a big thank you from me too.
