  1. I don't blame him for being cautious. It's not as if things are simply going to go back to the way they were before all this happened. It will be hanging over everyone in the company like the proverbial elephant in the room. At the very least I imagine he will be insisting on some guarantees before accepting anything and is hopefully taking good legal advice.
  2. Yes, me too - he was really compelling. I'm looking forward to seeing it; it does look very promising.
  3. At least it sounds hopeful and that they are considering it! I'd settle for a digital download if that's what they offer, but many would want a DVD. I tweeted about it myself a few days ago, and Crystal Ballet responded with a suggestion that they host and distribute it, so maybe that's what they are considering? Either way - demand is really hotting up, and is unprecedented, I'd say.
  4. They filmed on the 31st as a rehearsal so presumably they have other footage. And thank you, Elia Amato - I have retweeted!
  5. Possibly, or he had been reading the comments on the ROH website.... I doubt he would mention a DVD until he saw how the actual performance went and how it was received. People are still asking for it.
  6. I can't believe how anyone could say there was no emotion. I was extremely moved by it, as I was seeing it live last week. In fact the cinema close-ups (annoying though they can sometimes be) focussed in on the expressions and intensified them. All the dancing was superb (barring a bit of a wobble from Myrthe), but Nunez was exquisite (that endless balance en pointe!) and Vadim's dancing, especially in Act 2, was quite simply spectacular. Amazing jumps and leaps (soundless!), and those entrechats.... There was applause in the cinema, and that's a first!
  7. Sounds like the dancers have gone on strike. Good at least to know that they are behind Kobborg. But what an awful situation.
  8. And the said poster does state that he would still buy it if released.
  9. I didn't actually feel that Vadim played Albrecht as loving Giselle from the start. He was certainly playing the ardent lover but the impression I got was of a fun-loving, but rather entitled and selfish young man who is used to doing what he wants without having to bother thinking about the consequences of his actions. A pleasant young man, certainly, and with no ill intent, but living for the moment, and refusing to think about the fact that his deception can surely not be maintained. He wants Giselle, and so does what it takes, but it is only when he is about to be "outed" and things suddenly start to become rather uncomfortable, that he comes to some realisation that things have got out of control. And probably also realises that he was more in love with Giselle than he thought, when he realises what his actions have brought on. That was my interpretation, for what it's worth, anyway - everyone sees things differently so no doubt there will be those who disagree.
  10. Was it Teo Dubreil and Solomon Golding in the Pd6? I saw somewhere on the social media that it was their "surprise debut", so presumably they weren't expected to perform then. It might explain a lack of polish in the performance.
  11. I have just added a post re the DVD to the ROH Facebook page as well. If you feel inclined, please go there and add supporting comments. Let's make this a full-on campaign! If you can't find it, here is a direct link:- https://m.facebook.com/royaloperahouse/posts_to_page/ Otherwise it is hidden under the Posts to Page or Visitor Posts links.
  12. Now that I've managed to stop laughing - I don't think Vasiliev (even with a comb over!) could ever resemble Donald Trump!
  13. I was just about to post exactly the same thing! Lots of very heartfelt comments appearing - surely they can't ignore it? Keep up the pressure....
  14. Probably not, but they definitely won't if people don't ask for it. I seem to remember as well that they weren't intending to release the Osipova / Golding Swan Lake, but they caved in to public demand? I could be wrong....
  15. ???? I might add that there is a special hashtag on Twitter, #Vadimhairwatch....!
  16. Agreed, Simon - what a performance from, especially, Vadim and Marianella, but also from all the cast. Following the fantastic accounts and reviews from their previous performances, I was full of anticipation for tonight's, and I wasn't disappointed. I don't think I have ever seen Vadim dance better (those entrechats!), but then Albrecht is a role that shows off both his formidable technical skills and his acting skills to perfection. As someone on Twitter put it; "I could watch Vadim being danced to death all night" Marianella was just exquisite, and between them they made the ballet so incredibly moving - impossible not to feel a tear at the end. A wonderful partnership in the making; let's hope the Royal Ballet nurture this one..... I can't wait to see it again at the cinema on Wednesday. Taking my mother-in-law - she is a recent convert to Vadim, having seen him in The Two Pigeons, and now adores him!
