  1. Well just heard Dd got swl for year 8 MAs London after swl for ye 6 London JAs (no space came up) and straight no last year for year 7. Always worth doing for the audition practise anyhow she reckons ?
  2. In terms of YDA academics are extremely strong, as is Pastoral care. In year 7 they do 3 hours of ballet every day apart from Fridays when they do Jazz and tap, plus body conditioning sessions a few times a week, and my dd does a pointe session after school on Friday as well. On Saturdays they either do Royal associates or a morning of ballet and jazz at Pineapple.
  3. In terms of finances YDA do have scholarships, and the fees are lower than Elmhurst - with the parental contributions required with MDS it may be that you would find not much difference between the two. Also, it isn't just that the students go onto WL and Elmhurst while there, it is also worth looking at the graduating destinations, last year leavers from YDA went to Royal, ENB, Elmhurst, Tring and Rosella Hightower in Cannes. (I have known of students leave Elmhurst to go to WL too so it isn't solely at YDA this movement happens between lower schools.) Of course Elmhurst is far more well known, the facilities are superb, and the training I am sure is first rate. I am not disputing that. Just trying to give balance to the picture!
  4. Hi June dancer Dd got week one. She was hoping to be with her friend who got week 2! Her mum is going to call and ask re poss of swapping so might be worth doing that too
  5. Just had email for course B, DD has a place for week one, which she will be pleased to hear.
  6. Last year we auditioned on the 15th March and got the letters on the 23rd so 8 days. Good luck to all waiting on results and the boys auditioning today.
  7. No, they get taken off in groups and asked to fill in one side of a questionnaire including any injuries or physio treatments in last 12 months, then they are given the physio assessment. The other side of the form is filled in by the physio, and includes something along the lines of 'recommend' or 'fail' tick boxes (not kidding!) so this form must be given as feedback to the panel. Otherwise why would they have that on there? Perhaps it was all idle chit chat. I must just have a cynical mind ...
  8. Except that of various other parents at the audition who I knew and spoke to afterwards they also confirmed their DC had been asked this in the physio, hence the reason we thought it may not have just been idle chat.
  9. Hmm yea, it did seem a bit like they waited till they had the kids on their own and away from parents. i wondered why they needed to know this? was it information taken into account when making decisions? Anyhow, I would have liked to know in advance they were asking this so thought I would share it on here for any parents whose children are at finals next week, good luck all!
  10. BTW - last year at finals in the physio assessment they asked the kids which schools if any they had had offers from already. I don't of course know for sure how this info was used, but was interesting I thought ...
  11. Thanks Balletbean, those are very useful tips. DD hasn't had another migraine since, hoping they will be isolated incidences!
  12. UPDATE - ROH customer service have been in touch, and a very nice man called Graham has arranged two tickets for DD and I to see Jewels opening night on 1 April! What a nice ending to a sorry tale.
  13. Yes, better than last year. They had 6 MDS to offer at funding finals across all years. I think there were over 50 in total going for them last year. Good luck to everyone who is auditioning today.
  14. Hmmm, can't help feeling a little cynical seeing this.
  15. Blister plasters, get them from Boots. Will make them heal and stop the pain
  16. Yay so pleased for you and your dd c
  17. Yep have heard of one JA from London, and 2 from Eastleigh. Congrats to all who have got yeses. Such an achievement. And well done to all the finalists, whatever the outcome.
  18. Very sorry to hear of the nos and hope your children are ok. I know it is hard - when dd got no from finals at her preferred school last year she cried bitterly but she is now so happy at the vocational school she did go to and thriving there, and looking back says she is now certain that this was the best place for her.
  19. I don't know about what happened yesterday, but I think previous years nos gone out first, followed by yeses.
  20. I knew of one girl who joined yr 9 just before christmas but I didn't think anyone was assessed out then.
  21. Very exciting, well done to the boys with yeses!!
  22. Summer school are now supposed to be coming out Friday. Which might mean tomorrow is year 7 results day, as there seem to have been all the y 8 and up results sent out now.
  23. Just saw a reply on RBS instagram repeating offers would be sent out some time this week. But no day confirmed.
  24. Good luck to you mummyboy and everyone waiting on all results
  25. Previously they have sent out results in order of the audition date. The girls who auditioned for y8-11 the week before y 7 finals still haven't heard though so am guessing they will send out those results before any from last weekends final. They have been waiting for 10 days now! It sounds like the poor old Royal email dragon is going to be working overtime this week if, as they claim, they are also sending out 3000 results for summer school this week.l ????
