  1. Yes, it seems to be a new thing. Previous years all finals for year 7 girls have lasted for a day. Interesting to hear they are changing the format.
  2. Fantastic news Loulabelle. Well done to your dd. x
  3. I don't think they were sent after finals last year - summer school results were sent out on the same day as results for prelims for us, the emails came within minutes of each other!
  4. Have just seen that upper school results are coming out today, so I would guess they aren't going to be turning to summer school applications until that was all done. They will have been very busy with the lower school auditions then results, then the upper school auditions and results. I can imagine now they will turn their attention to the summer school. They did say 1 March for results so they will need to go through them all in next two weeks really to be sending out results on time. MA results aren't due till Easter so they will have done summer school before then I would think.
  5. Yes us too. Am sure it is standard reply
  6. Really sorry to hear this DP. It is one of my biggest worries with audition forms - "did I tick the right box or not?"
  7. Oh no DancingPrincess. So sorry to hear that you thought you had ticked both boxes. Did they say anything re when you would hear for MAs?
  8. If you read the comments you will see no one has a fixation on a job title (in fact is you who keeps bringing that up). It is that the job remit (head of outreach) is not equivalent to School Artistic Director, yet the decisions being made under that job remit are decisions taken by School Artistic Director in other vocational schools, and therefore people are disappointed that is not the case here.
  9. Yes Seymour, there were two people on panel at lower school
  10. Not the job title, the relevance of their role to be in that position of choosing the candidates. To use your example I don't think that the chief exec of Dixons putting a telly in a boot equates to who chooses the students for a ballet school. One is delivery to a customer, the other is the careful selection of the life blood of the school. Just as any major decision at board level for the future of Dixons would be taken by the chief exec, it is reasonable to expect the director of a ballet school to be present at auditions.
  11. So a one-off personal reason why they didn't attend, rather than an annual date elsewhere? And, the head of ballet auditioning in her place sounds like someone who is a valid deputy.
  12. MPH - the point everyone is making though is that in the dance world at vocational schools it is normal practise for the school artistic director to be present at all auditions. For Elmhurst and Tring I know from experience they are at both prelims and finals.
  13. One of the points being made is that st other vocational schools the director of the school does attend both prelim and final auditions. This was the case at Elmhurst and tring last year. Also the fact is the head of outreach has not been given the job of school director so that is why people find it odd that they have so much say over who goes there. If they had been chosen for that role then fine, but as they haven't people may well question it.
  14. Err so why does he continue to not be there for the selection at prelims?!?
  15. Have heard of a yes for year 9 finals from London
  16. Hi DP, we were in the 10am class, first one of the day and it was all for year 8 apart from one girl who had been put in the wrong time slot by mistake and was for year 9! Maybe you should contact them if you don't hear today? Although I would say hearing late = good news possible?!?
  17. Surely this is a big question - why don't UK students get encouraged/trained to enter competitions as a matter of course like International students??
  18. Dancing Princess - we were London 22 Jan for year 8 and results came yesterday. All the people I know from that audition also have had their results through.
  19. Lots of Birmingham yeses! Congrats all. Are the dc JAs?
  20. I agree taxi! Seems the same at lower school (for royal), school director wasn't at year 8/9/10 audition in London, or last year at year 7 audition, but the head of outreach is always at them. Which is fine, but it does beg the question who is doing the choosing, the school's director or head of outreach?
  21. Year 8/9/10 results from London seem to be out and I think Manchester. Year 7 still waiting from looks of things. Mummy boy, we are all fine no sadness here. Odds are so slim for year 8 and up that we didn't expect anything but a no. Haven't heard of a single yes for year 8 finals yet from London!
  22. Phew must be simply thy they will follow but not referenced in the email
  23. Sorry to hear that abitwornout. No surprise here either. No for year 8 finals - London audition. Can I just check, did it mention anything in the email about waiting for associates results? It didn't say anything in our email and now worried I forgot to tick the associates box ...
