  1. Having been quite pleased to get seats for Giselle, I now find that the girls have 50% chance of their ballet exams on that evening!!!
  2. How long do you need to park there? The nearest car park is just underneath, shared with Aldi. Not sure what the rates are. Should be possible to park a 5 min walk away for free in the general direction of Friern Barnet/the Finchley Vue
  3. A nice little review of SB by Miss Lewis on the EYB Facebook page. BTW, I asked Scott about official photographs and he said that they had considered it before but it was a bit of an administrative nightmare. Seems like the sort of thing where an officially sanctioned parent might be able to do for them possibly as a next-best-alternative....
  4. Sad that it is suggested that people are "angry". I suppose they think she's holed-up with Liam Payne on some Caribbean island or something. I just booked for Giselle on a date that she's slated to perform. If they swap her, it'll be sad, but we'll live....
  5. I thought there had been some recent cases where groove copying resulted in an infringement, notably the "blurred lines" one
  6. Andrew Lloyd Webber also on the banned list. I once saw a routine done to the electric parade music, but didn't mention it!
  7. Disney music can have problems with copyright. Not sure if it applies to ballet, but not allowed with gymnastics routines.
  8. I've got some good guest, cats and Jewel ones if anyone wants to pm me I can give a link... But that's an excellent idea!
  9. I thought friends seemed to be a good role with some fun dances. BTW - Don't suppose anyone hung around to the bitter end of the photo session did they? We had to leave to go for dinner so missed out on DD1's posing! By the way On The Green was excellent - and very quick - could have been in and out with 2 courses within 45 mins, although I'll have to go back to enjoy a proper meal at leisure...
  10. Wasn't she! We're also baffled by her age. Mind you, she seemed more switched-on than many of her larger colleagues! Has your DD been promoted to a guest, then?
  11. By the way, what did people think of the show?
  12. Just in case anyone thinks otherwise, I agree with the rules of this forum. I think there is still a grey area for how organisations like EYB can manage what the children post themselves. Personally I'm quite liberal but can see that, for some, there are issues with social media (as distinct from managed publicity shots) that must conflict with their enthusiasm for their children to take part in things. Anyway, I didn't want to make a big deal of it - just can't help but be fascinated by grey areas! ;-)
  13. That wouldn't make any sense to me! Suspect there's a lot of pure old-fashionism in ballet, but that argument seems weaker than the anti-Gaynor Minden school of thought that suggests that they prevent building of strength in the foot. Plenty of good evidence and acceptance from authority in running and skiing!
  14. Just wondered if it was compulsory and how that relates to, say, someone in the show wanting to put a photo of their group on their Facebook page. I know many have done it and can't possibly have permission from all those involved. A grey area, I suspect!
  15. It's a very interesting subject. Not sure if all parents have opted to allow publicity shots of their children in EYB website and Facebook. Must be a minefield for them, relying on no awkward parents!
  16. Ah, yes, that makes sense. A shame, but understandable.
  17. Anyway, you all had a bit of a purple patch tonight - difference between Thursday and Saturday night quite remarkable. Just imagine if you did more! Took quite a few pics at the photo session to remember it by. Would it be OK/politic to upload one or two?
  18. Btw, some friends of ours have a spare ticket for today's matinee if anyone's interested
  19. I personally love the big dances, so my tops are: 1) Waltz 2) Aurora & prince Pd2 (esp spin & dive moves!) 3) Cats 4) Polonaise 5) Not a dance, but Carabosse & Auntie Lilac were a joy! Is it true that Lilac is white because Miss Lewis is allergic to purple?! I still find Rose Adagio too stressful to watch happily.
  20. I'd feel less uncomfortable saying "Toi Toi Toi" than "Merde". It reminds me when I was at a conference (Apple developers, IIRC) and the M-word was used as a punchline on a cartoon - in a speech bubble. The guy next to me, an American, turned asked asked "what does Murdy mean?" So I felt rather superior for a second, then guilty at being snobbish for a while longer!
  21. I'm presuming that they might reduce bunions if the weight is more evenly distributed to all the toes?
  22. Yes. Lady Beauty and the "Jewels" have short solos (maybe about 30-40s worth, but 2 or 3 each). I suppose Cinderella kind of does. Obviously the Pro's have by far the biggest solos. Going again tonight (and Saturday!) will be interesting to compare Amy and Adele's performances.
  23. What?! You just say "merde" to someone?! Extraordinary!
