  1. Select*from, I do 3 hours a week, 1 hour every other day.
  2. Morning, I'm hoping some of you balletcoers might be able to give some advice on this. Last saturday I went for a pointe shoe fitting as the shoes I've got were starting to become a bit soft and I could feel the floor with my big toe. The fitter said that I had broken in the shoes perfectly and that the shoes I have are a perfect fit. Now, I had gone to the shop the previous week as I needed to go and make an appointment and whilst I was there another, different fitter had a look at my shoes and at my records and said to me that it might be worth trying a different pair of shoes with a harder shank so that they lasted longer (I've had only that pair since the middle of june and I only do one pointe class a week) however when I mentioned this to the fitter last saturday she said that she didn't see why I should change the design of my shoes when the ones I have fit perfectly. I tried a few pairs of harder shanked ones and we found a pair that would be ideal however I'm not sure whether to get those ones or just get a new pair in the design I've got. The only factor that is making me want to try the new pair is in the hope that they last longer as we don't have enough money to spare to buy a new pair of pointe shoes every 3/4 months. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, if that all sounded like a ramble. Nutcracker-x
  3. The Royal Opera House have some nice pop up ones x
  4. Glad to hear your DD has settled in well at Tring. She'll soon catch up and it will soon seem as if she's been at the school since the start of the term and didn't start half way through
  5. Bloch do some nice green ones though I'm not sure whether they would be suitable for MT. Would be worth a look though Nutcracker-x
  6. In the school I'm at we do English, Maths and at least double of single award Science (triple award is an option) and then we pick 4 other options. Depending on what science you were doing you end up with 7 or 8 GCSE's. To me this is enough and if we were to do any more there simply wouldn't be enough time in the school week.
  7. What's about one from the firebird?
  8. I second Janets advice. The search on the RAD website is very helpful.
  9. Hi, Just thought I'd post to ask how DC are getting on in their vocational schools. Hope they have settled into school and enjoying vocational school life Nutcracker-x xx
  10. Its the 8th for the SS application forms and then the 15th for the other applications x
  11. Will these classes just be being held on the school site or in the other associate venues aswell? xx
  12. Swimming can't do too much harm as otherwise it wouldn't be part of the curriculum at WL. However saying that a post I read on Lisa Howells blog suggested that swimming could be linked with tight hip flexors however their wasn't much evidence for this. Personally I wouldn't worry too much as at 9, kids should be free to do what they want and as long as your DD is happy then that is what matters.
  13. The dates for next years SS are on the RBS website. Noticed that application dates are earlier than usual?
  14. Hi, Does anybody know of any leather, split sole ballet shoes that come in a very narrow width and are also durable? My feet are extremely narrow and I find it hard to find shoes that fit without being overly expensive. Thanks in advance x
  15. Hi, Just been reading your post and it reminds me of something my ballet teacher told me when I told her I wanted a career in dance. She said that at the age of 14 she decided that she really wanted to dance professionally with the Australian ballet company (she is originally from Australia) however when she told her teacher of this she they had said that is was very, very unlikely as she didn't have the right physique. However she went on to dance professionally with rhe Australian Ballet and she even was trained by Gailene Stock. It just goes to show that just because a few people say that something is unlikely to happen doesn't mean it can't happen. I hope that you come to the right decision on what is best for you and that you are happy with whatever decision you make. Nutcracker-x xxxx
  16. I would be interested, would be more convenient if it was residential and round about £200-£300 x
  17. I went to see the RBS summer peformance on saturday night with my mum and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially loved the last dance can't remember the name of the piece at the moment but it included students from all 3 years of the upper school. Would definately consider going again next year.

  20. Hi, At the moment I am trying to find a good ballet school in the merseyside area that does more than 3 classes per week for 14 year olds along with private lessons. I was wondering if anyone on the forum knew of any that could be recommended. Thanks x
