  1. Do you know about the national dance cats website? ( sorry I don't know how to post a link) if you are near any of the centres they provide excellent trainig in ballet and contempoary dance. It is funded by means tested mds and could be a good way of extra training. On my DDS cat they provide help and support with auditions plus lots of other things including travel allowance. Auditions have already happened but it is worth contacting any of the centres that you could get to and see if they would see your DD. Had the same idea as s&p , you can apply at 16 but not 17.
  2. white tutu skirt 8 layers stiff pleated net. White thick cotton Lycra pant and basque, hook and eye fasting. Measuement around top of basque (waist) 26in unstretched , around bottom of basque where net starts (hips) 30ins. Lovely skirt in good condition only worn a few times £20 + £3.20 postage. capezio trolley bag used once £10 + £6 postage with my Hermes or possible collect from somerset.
  3. Grishko do a super hard shank as a special order. The American version of this forum ballet talk has a pointe shoe experts mat be its worth asking there as there are other things you cando like adding extra shank tacks.
  4. What is the sizing like on these? DD is usually a size 8 but does not like anything tight around the waist so not sure what size to go for. If anyone that has the skirt could measure the waistband that would be a great help. Thanks.
  5. Just back from a very enjoyable evening. Thought the mermaid and the prince of course were excellent. Hfbrew we met your Ds's relatives as they were sat behind us and we got chatting, they are lovely people.
  6. Going to see this with Dd tonight in Taunton. Hfbrew would love to know the casting for this.
  7. Pastel - at the audition they did say that the course will run fom September even if they do not get the accreditation.
  8. We have tried graze boxes but I ended up eating them, for some unknown reason DD did not like them. Can you get gift cards for Costa? The asda card is a great idea and there is one close.
  9. So I know September is a while away and we are still waiting on funding that may or may not happen. But DD has realised that she probably won't be able to get home every week. 'That's ok' she said 'you can send me things in the post' !! What things are essentials for dancers away from home on a tight budget and any ideas for fun things? In my DD's case phone credit and chocolate would be essential.
  10. I have heard of it DDs CAT has a contempoary piece in it but Dd is not in the dance so we will not be there.
  11. London studio centre website states that because they are a private college they can charge what they like- £13250 and students can only get up to £6000. That is a lot of money to find.
  12. I want that sewing machine that gathered the net so easily.
  13. Janice

    Rambert auditions

Hope this helps someone, Dd has a friend who has been offered reserve list but was not asked to do solo or interview.
  14. Anjuli_Bai this makes perfect sense. I have to be very careful what I say to DD sometimes as I know often her decision are the ones she thinks I want her to make. On the plus side I had a long Skype chat with DD and she said that she has decided it is time to pull her socks up,work harder and find some confidence in herself.
  15. My Dd to is also struggling with confidence, she is always saying she is rubbish. She can only seem to see the no's at the moment and gives no credit to the things she has achieved. There have been some good suggestions posted and nothing more i can add but send a vertual hug to you and your Dd. For me and my dd i think that maybe it is our time to get of this ride.
  16. Just back from move it, we had such a great day. We met the lovely Sheila from Just Ballet, they have some absolutely gorgeous leotards and skirts well worth a look. But the highlight of DD's day was Diversity walking past us as we were taking a break in a quiet corner.
  17. 2 dancersmum you are right it is her confidence that is the problem she is always telling me that she is rubbish. I thought she would be in level 4 and I do think that is the right level for her. Most of her classes now are non syllabus not sure the level except for one of the classes which I know is basic because they have a lad from the urban programme in the class. She is not rubbish but as you say she has had a lot to deal with over the couple of years, but I know she will enjoy the two days otherwise I would not let her do it. I live in hope that one day she may believe it when someone tells her that actually she is a beautiful dancer (when she puts her mind to it).
  18. Unless they have changed group 4 was advanced foundation and up. We had an e-mail saying that we would be contacted after the closing date but as Dd had read on here of others already knowing they had a place she e-mailed to ask.
  19. I did ask before entering and was told to include as much info as possible and they would decide the level. I am sure it will be ok she just has no confidence in herself. I let her enter for the experience and the chance for extra classes and coaching ,it looks like a fab opportunity.
  20. Dd has a place in level 4 , but is now worried because she was hoping for level 3 as she thinks she is not good enough for level 4. She is only studying grade 8 at the moment although she took her intermediate in 2012, so we were not sure what level she would be in.
  21. What about rubbing alcohol, I remember reading somewhere that it works on some shoes as different brands use different glue and not all will soften with water.
  22. LinMM if you open the 4od app and go to a-z programmes find big ballet it will then show the 3 episodes, underneath this it says series 1 and series 2 open series 2 and it should come up with the performance .
